This looks like a good game.

However, CMON absolutely *sucks* once the kickstarter is over. No updates, etc. So I find it extremely hard to back anything by these guys.

They gave all the important updates (delays, shipping estimates, etc). What else are you looking for?

I get enough junk email about erectile enhancers and lotteries in Africa. Like Catyrpelius, I'm okay with not getting as many KS updates.

I back the Sedition Wars KS. I've effectively gotten 1 update per month. Most of the early ones were dealing with their screwing up the pledge manager. For the amount of money that was given to them, I figured they could invest more than 10 minutes a month in letting us know whats up. But, everyone can have their own viewpoint.

While this is techincally true Mike McVey has been putting out pretty constant updates over on his forum about the status of the game. Most of those updates have made their way into the Sedition Wars Kickstarter thread here on Dakka Dakka. If you didn't know where to look for it though your left thinking they haven't been updating you on the project much.

Roughly around $2,100 until the next stretch goal is broken. It's looking like your getting quite a bit for your boardgameing dollar.

Uuh, at that price point I'm guessing not bloody much
The KS main page says $25(+intl shipping) gets you all stretch goals so I don't think those will be too impressive anymore; there's just not that much room in $25 for a lot of product

A little info on the game contents posted by Kevin Clark:

Kevin Clark less than a minute ago

I have some answers to some of the common questions asked on here.

First of all, the tiles are good quality card stock, and are roughly 65mm x 65mm in size.

The box will not hold all the extras (specifically the tokens of the guys) though they will be sent in a package so you will be able to hold them.

The stretch goals do come with color matched capture markers.

The stretch goals are not going to be included in the retail version of the game.

I think that is everything I have a answer to at the moment. Anything I missed?

And it just passed $25,000 I wonder what they have lined up next and did they even think this would hit $25k in 16 days let alone 2.

No kidding, right? I wouldn't think they expected this to do so well so quickly. With that being said, you really are getting a fair amount for your boardgaming dollar, as someone said before.

At $25, I'd probably have bought it without any stretch goals, and as such, I'm fairly okay if they dont add anymore. As it stands, coming on late will still net you all the achieved stretch goals which amounts to a fair amount of fun little minis.

House rules anyone? More cards!

Since we've unlocked all the extra Guilds, how about some extra cards that should come in handy for larger games? If we hit this stretch goal every Kickstarter set will get

5 additional Militia cards
4 additional Personality cards

I don't see the point in Kickstarting a product that would get made anyways.

There's very little similar between this KS and the Wyrd one, particularly when it comes to layout.

Plus, had you read it, you'd have seen that they're using this as a barometer for potential future Cadwallon projects. IIRC from conversations with Chern An at GenCon, C'MON would like to revitalize the whole Cadwallon/Confrontation universe in a variety of formats.

Anyways, I'll reiterate that the way this is set up is the proper way to set up a KS. Just what we've come to expect from a C'MON produced product. Other companies, instead of bucking what works and stubbornly "doing it their own way," should take note.

Will it be "properly run" "just as we've come to expect from CMON" by going completely dark on the updates once they've gotten your money, too? In all seriousness, while they usually run a smooth and well-planned campaign, they're hardly the shining beacon or perfection.

More interesting to me is the timeframe. Ending it three days before Christmas might not be the very best way to get an even measure of the popularity of future Cadwall stuff. At least it's relatively cheap, but even so, the timing is awful - and not in an "I can't afford it, so it sucks!!" way either. (I can afford this one, easily).

They said they would kickstart confrontation proper I imagine after the holidays. They have been play testing it for a while but the state the original casts came back were very poor. I know the second they put that kickstarter up I'll join!

CMON have Wrath of Kings lined up for February Kickstart so they are unlikely to do a confrontation KS too close to that.

Black Ball games, who have apparently been brought in to work on Confrontation: Phoenix, or whatever it's being called now, have just started asking for playtesters on sites like dragonpainting.net. They almost immediately filled their capacity for playtesters.
I'd imagine that we won't see a Confrontation Kickstarter until the summer at least.

This was so cheap and with a relatively short turn around for a kickstarter project that I had to jump on board. Still a shame that cadwallon:city of thieves is not on uk AppStore yet.

Looks like a neat game thats relatively inexpensive

However can anyone tell me who "owns" confrontation? I know CMoN owns the minis line but FFG has the rights to the boardgames yes?

They've now added an optional game board made of rigid laminated card (not required to play the game) for $15 (plus $5 international shipping) and if it hits $75k anyone who buys the optional game board will get a large KS exclusive box that will hold the board and all the added pieces. Rules for 4x4 and 5x5 grids are in the works and will be available as a PDF.

Well I stumped up for the board as its a neat little addition plus would definately prefer a big box to hold all the extra gubbins in. Just have to hope that it hits the big 75k with five days to go.

Might not make that goal, people are kinda upset on the kickstarter comments about the price going from $25 up to $40 to get a box to hold everything (and the board).

I'm one of them myself honestly. At $25 its cool, at $40.....not so much....

Thinking hard about dropping out of this one.

Yep I'm in for $30 ($20 Early bird plus $10 shipping) that's me done I've no interest in the board or larger box not what I backed this KS for I don't understand why people are so upset about an optional extra that isn't required to play the game ($25 for the game and your all set) granted the small box won't hold the extra Guild markers and cards and will ship in a separate plain box but I tend to store all my gaming pieces in small food storage plastic boxes anyway. This KS just wasn't set up in a way that allows for a board and larger box to be added at no extra charge as they were never intended to be part of the game and were only added after backers requests - the same backers who are now dropping out.

Sounds like a bad case of cutting your nose off to spite your face. Happy with what you where goin to get at $25 then why cancel over an entirely optional purchase? It also seems to be a lot of whiney yanks again. Lots of non US backers seem happy with this despite getting stiffed for heavy shipping charges.

I am happy at $25. I think for that price its worth the money. I'm not happy about all the freebies that won't fit in the box it comes in. That is just a recipe for stuff getting lost in my house (I have 3.5 kids). Where my personal issue comes in is that I now have the option to get a box to fit everything in from the manufacture but it requires me to pay an extra $15 to get a board I don't really care about nor would I pay for.

Now I know I can go out and get a tackle box or whatever to store it all in, but I don't want to.

I'm not saying its not a deal at $25. I just don't think that the value is there for me anymore.

How can the value disappear just because you have the option to add a board? If your that bothered about getting the box just wait for it to hit $75k and pay $15 for the box and get a free board. The product still has exactly the same value as it did before that option existed.

So, the value has gone down for you because you're now getting more for your money because of all the stretch goals?

Actually, with Kickstarter that's quite possible. Sometimes people pledge anticipating stretch goals adding to things. If the stretch goals cost an additional fee, or for example the launch stretch goals are free but if you want the box that fits them you have to pay more, that can de-value it for people based on initial expectations.

Not saying it necessarily should be that way... just that it is!

The big box and board are a plus for me. I was actaully alittle hesitant when I heard that the game plus stretch goals would fit into the original box.

Latest update:

Now this is a little game that could! Here's an additional game mechanic that's completely optional and should add a little spice to the base game.

Kickstarter only, these optional cards represent Guild Backers that will add to your score, but not provide support when capturing, throwing an interesting into the game.

Guild Backers
These cards represent an important figure within their aligned guild. They fight to forward their guild’s goals and overall influence within Cadwallon. Guild Backer cards are worth 1 Guild Point and have no Support Value.

The player adds Guild Points for each of his Guild Backers. Should a player control four or more District Cards belonging to a Guild Backer’s specific guild, that player is awarded 5 additional Guild Points.

Also included are Rules Cards for handling more than 4 players, specific to this Kickstarter!
