Are we looking at the same game?

Infinity is one of the cheatest miniatures games on the market right now. Only their TAGS and other large models get expensive, because, well, they're all metal still.

You both are right in my opinion.

It can get very expensive if you want to have a "complete" set of unit options. It only gets worse if you want to have unique looking units where you have to do conversions, etc.

I was doing some pricing online. The only store in my area that carries Infinity is doing so at a major premium. Apparently their prices are on average 50% higher than what their retail is listed on Miniatures Market (before discounts) A while back I picked up the Mushashi figure in store which ran me $17! It's listed for $10 on MMarket (or just under $9 with discount)

Some of the larger models are pretty expensive, I realize that I will likely only need one or two but some of the walkers and 40mm based minis are $40-$50. I have a bunch of privateer trollblood models of simular size that run around $20-ish at full retail. Problem again comes from my store marking the larger infinity models up 25% which comes out to about $10-$12 above normal retail.

The force sizes are on average much smaller so it offsets the costs, also look like if I shop at places with realistic prices it's much more on par with other mini lines. I guess the moral is to check around on the prices.

I got:
Evil Baby Orphanage

But since my partner didn't know what it was or where to get it, did the old 'I'll get it, you pay me back' thing.

And due to 'supplier delays', it won't be shipped for general retail release until January (considering the official release date from Wyrd was 18th Nov-ish) I think this may be a result of the kickstarter

So technically the only wargaming present I got, I haven't actually got yet, and I paid for myself, so, no wargaming presents for me

I asked the store owner what was up with the pricing and apparently it's because they can't get it through their normal distributors. In order to stock it they've been ordering it from CB directly, They got a small discount which was aproximately what they pay to have it shipped from Spain. If they sell it at normal retail then they break even at best. They want to support the game but they also need to make money so it gets marked up based on what they have to pay in order to stock it, makes sense but makes it painfully expensive for the customer.

I gave him the contact info for a Distributor that does carry infinity, but their required minimum order size to maintain an account is apparently too high. The store doesn't want to keep an account just to stock one line. (that moves very slowly in store)

I suggested that maybe if their prices were in line with other retailers they'd see more Infinity move off the shelf, but that prompted a stare of death... I do know that most of the players there have bought their stuff online as it's crazy to pay retail +50% Just seems to be in a real touchy spot locally, maybe that'll reverse in time when the game gets carried with more distributors?

This thread is depressing me - for the first time since 1997 I got nothing miniatures-related at all this xmas. Its my own fault, since I didn't ask for anything!

Bought my housemate the How to paint citadel miniatures book as part of dragging him kicking and screaming into the hobby.

Think of dying and going to gamer heaven/ hell... depending on how you want to look at her.

First off, I came back home this past few weeks and walked into a room full of boxes. the first few days of opening these was fun... then the WTF phase set in. Overwhelmed isn't the word for it.

Then we went to Disneyland and spent the obligatory fortune on the package and fattened up on shameless self promotions and disney ...... stuff. To say that They have taken over the world would be an understaement as well. Lets leave it at I had a pretty good time, and accomplished a lifelong goal.

Came home to the game filled area and had to reajust the workspace.Got into Dust with a couple of boxes of Americans and Germans, and a building, then went down to the local game store to reaquaint myself with the scene there.

Its a good time to spread the word about Kickstarter.

Other things for christmas- Spend more money, make some money, reajust my area, and aquisitions.

Iron Kingdoms
UFX Line
Dungeon Delves
Kings of War/ Added in three reaper additions: one the ghoul King, Second a Lich, and the third is a necromancer.
