I didn't get a lot of gaming related stuff this year but I did get a much needed storm raven, for which I am very thankful.

Since when should you be thankful for getting a lump of coal? Sorry, I couldn't resist following your cue there ..

I got
- A pile of Antenociti's Workshop G.O.T. stuff (their sci-fi police and vehicle) for use in Infinity.
- Dreadball
- Some exodus wars stuff for use with Epic. (Squats! Hurrah! )
- A few Infinity blister packs.

Nothing miniature-gaming related, however something that is somewhat in the same area of (nerd) interest.

I used to always want the LEGO Star Wars Slave 1, but I could never really justify buying it (to myself), because if you think GW is expensive..... LEGO is pretty damn expensive stuff too and it is obviously not something a grown man actually needs (then again, who decides such things? ). Anyway, I hadn't been paying attention to it, and LEGO in general, for quite some years until this year's Christmas shopping came along, and my cousin's small son likes LEGO, so off to the store it was to get him a present.

And there I stumbled upon it again. One of those " I forget you existed too!" moments. Sticker price: 89,95 (euros). The box was a bit damaged, so initially I hesitated and left it there, only to of course regret it later after I got back home. Checking online I found out the LEGO Slave 1 was discontinued in may 2011, and some internet stores are already even asking 150,- (euros) for it. So I thought "to hell with it, it's Christmas and I can actually easily afford this, so if it is still there tomorrow I'm getting it".

Now the best part of it all, this (large department) store has these signs next to their registers that basically say [scanned prices are final, no arguments]. A couple of years ago they had a sale where like thirty identical jeans were stacked up on the shelf, and the only one left in my size, which is a nothing out of the ordinary size in between other regular sizes, had a clearly wrong (much higher) price tag on it, but when I asked about it they pointed to one such sign and said "sorry, we can't do anything about it".
So, while I was standing there at one of the registers, fully prepared to dish out the 89,95, and exactly at the same moment my eye fell on said little sign again, bringing back slight feelings of annoyance at the jeans happening back then, the woman scans the box and says "29,- euros please"..... inside my head I went .... lmao.

(for those of you worried, I didn't forget about my cousin's kid, and got him a bad-ass yellow LEGO city Mining Truck (which has nothing on Boba Fett's ride, but I'm not going to tell him that as he is only 6 years old ))

You're right, your family probably doesn't love you if they got you some fancy shiny Panzees.
If they really loved you, they would have gotten you some nice beefy orks! Green is best after all! Just like the Christmas tree.

"Just the act of orks looting it defiles it! There are Techpriests rolling over in their graves!" "Yeah! I'm rolling over them in their graves!"
"The usage of shipping containers is much like 40k technology: It's been handed down from tech-priest to tech priest, until none of us really remember how it works and we go through many pointless rituals in the belief that it will keep it alive. " - Dayspring

Didn't get anything off my family, but a friend did get me an AoW Dwarf Noble.

Amusingly, this is the same friend I'd gotten Ifalna to paint the Goblin-on-shieldbearer-with-pint-o-beer for earlier in the year...

Since I am in China with no family and Xmas isn't a thing here I got I got / gave myself:

2 25th anny Crimson Fisters (one to mod and one for as is)

Sky Shield landing pad (which was priced wrong at approx £18)

Agies Def Line

Forgefiend (not a fan of the model but the gaming looks fun with it)

Drop pod with tac squad (remember those limit edit packs they did last year?)

All for 20% off! Which is a deal indeed in China.

Happy NY guys!

I got 10 MK IV marines from forge world and a set of tigrus pattern bolters the start of my betrayer legion.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Got a couple of 1/35 kits to do up, and the finecast White dwarf director (and it was frikkin excellent quality for a change too!).

I'm a massive fan of PJ's earlier work, and so will be doing a little tribute dio, full of disturbing and silly references to his lesser known films.

Not entirely related but, I was really pleased to receive some cool fantasy and art ref books. Always good for project inspiration!

My new hero! THAT was a gift unto itself.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
