You were already talking about doing transfers for the vending machines, etc right Paulson?

I'm thinking something akin to Mass Effect or Halo, where the "keypad" is essentially a holographic interface.

I should have some more models going over the weekend. I also wanted to ask for some opinions on pricing.

What type of price range would you guys be comfortable for terrain like these?

And would you prefer that pieces be available as single items or as sprues of multiple items?

For example a vending machine; I imagine that most people would at best only need a handful of them for a table unless they are filling something like a food court and even then there probably wouldn't be that many present.

Would you want 2-3 differant versions of vending machines? Able to bought as single copies or would the preference be a sprue of several machines?

If they are on a sprue would you prefer all the same style of machine or to have 3 or so differant styles?

I'm trying to work out some numbers to see how viable the various parts would be. There's lots of potential pieces I can make but most I'm seeing as being items that might have about a half dozen copies per board so that does tend to cap the demand a bit. If for example I sell 1 or 2 $5 sprues to each person that's a fair amount of sprues in order to break even once I figure in modelling time , printing & molding.

I would certainly order some, but to make them into more than just food vending machines. We now sell other things in those, so I'd expand the marketing just a tad if I were you.

This would increase sales a bit, maybe. I could see myself wanting about half a dozen regular machines, and a few more busted ones, one their side, to act as cover.

I would totally get the vending machines and data board.

I think if you offered two or three different "bodies" for the vending machines that would cover it. Especially if they fronts were generic and flat so people (read: modelers better than I) could put their own brands on the fronts. Two to a sprue should be enough. If it was two machines to a sprue I would buy two or four depending on price.

The data boards look more usable as they can be free standing in a street or on a corner so I am very interested in those and could see purchasing several (read about 4-8). the board as mentioned can be free standing in open urban spaces, can be used indoors for arrival/departure boards (hmmm... what Paradiso mission would that fit with...) In general I like the idea a lot and various sizes would be cool.

The data kiosk I am kinda, meh, on but they look good.

Big dumpster trash bins would be nice to clutter up an alley in my opinion. The waste bins you showed are nice but I am look for something a bit more substantial.

Yeah, the trash cans I could very easily see myself buying at least ten, the display terminals a few as well and the data terminal (sans keypad, imho) as well.

Anyone know where to get appropriately scaled benches? Either park style or concrete blocks would work.

I have a food vending machine just about done that I patterned after some of the japanese style ones, lots of little windows in the face. If you have any suggestions for various front faces for machines feel free to toss them out there and I'll try and model them.

The shopping mall style cans were something I tossed into the mix as I could easily use them for a lot of modern and zombie games. I'm also working on some square ones like you see at the parks or outside of fast food places. It may not translate all that well for game cover but they'd be good for modern scenic clutter.

Also on the list of stuff to do are larger rolling garbage cans and dumpsters as those would block LOF/LOS much better. I also have a rough idea for some planters as well as several seats and benches. I'm just about done with a row of seating that would work for inside transportation terminals like bus & train stations. Park & bus benches I'll also take a stab at. I don't have a huge printing budget yet so I'll try and focus on the most in demand stuff.

I had a chance to pick up the newer total recall and it'd be sweet to do some security x-ray/identity scanners.

A lot of that stuff looks awesome. I have been wanting to do a city board and had been looking at molds to cast bits like this but it would be nice to buy them premade with more variety as you need a lot of stuff to clutter the streets. Train and bus stations sound really cool and would help streets look a bit more organic.

Really nifty!

I really like to see a lot of stuff on a detailed battlefield, and the setting where you could put in such details and they count is cool.

These models in particular would be really striking.

Please, please, please, the Japanese style food dispensers! That is an awesome idea!

If you could make a sprue of 1 dumpster and 3 or 4 trash cans, that would be great. I'm partial to the round ones, but square ones would be acceptable too. Or multi-bins (for the different types of refuse).

My models came in earlier this week and I started putting them together. They look amazing although some of the parts are such a pain to get glued in place.

I really like the look of the Orc troops and the cutter, which IMO remind me of a mix of appleseed and bubble gum crisis. For game play I'll obviously need to make adjustments to make a playable list but my inital purchase was based totally on looks.

I've decided that I'm going to be doing a lot of customization to make the Pan-O models have a tighter visual synergy. The Armored Cav head seemed a bit too wasp-ish and long for me so I duplicted a cutter head for a transplant. The inital cast came out a bit soft on the details so I'll likely run off another one, but it gives agood idea of how the final fit will be. I'll likely do the same with some of the Orc heads (or the spec ops leader) and transplant them onto light troops.

That's a money headswap, well done even at this stage. Hadn't taken much of a look at the cutter's head - it's usually a camo token or I'm too busy trying to kill it - but it's quite cool.

Something that's occured to me while working on these, currently they are scaled aproximately what their real world counterparts would be.

Soda machines I figured at 6.5 ft tall 4 wide a 3 deep (I scaled it as 5mm per foot) that places the depth of the machine at about 15mm which would be plenty of room to hide a person beind however for table play a miniature base is 25 mm and the model is typically centered in the middle. A model taking cover next to a machine would likely only be about 1/3rd covered due to it's posistion on the base. do you think this would be problematic?

Would you prefer the items to be in proper scale and have to apply some imagination, or would it be preferable to have them oversized to cover more of the models?

I vote for proper scale. I don't really want heroic scale scatter terrain, or for it to look like I'm trying to make some out of scale hobby terrain work.
There are plenty of bigger items that could be made that _will_ obscure whole bases without having to make concessions on stuff like vending machines.

I like!

On the Keypads - What if you did all one control panel and did very a very light raised detail to look like the spiral hacker interface that Infinity have all over. That way you could paint the whole thing then drybrush to bring out the detail of the screen contents. if it was shallow enough it would look like it's just info on the display.

That's a solid idea although I'm not sure I'd be able to model it all that well. I'm still kinda rough on rounded surfaces and stuff like raised texts or details. What I can however is do some graphics in photoshop that people can stick to the screens if they like. I can print out screens on address label sticker sheets and all you'd need to do is cut them out and apply. I'll also do the same for the information sign.

Yesterday I gave the parts a final go over and double checked them for scale before sending them out to the printer. I should have a finalized quote in the next day or so and provide there's no snags I can expect to have the parts available in about two weeks.

Here's my cutter progress, the actual paint is much more flat. My camera is super sensitive and picks up light pools making everything look glossy.

I've had the models for these done for a while but there's some issues with molding them that will require them to be remastered. Before I go through that expense I thought I'd get a feel for people's interest level.

Currently the pieces are sized at 30x30mm and are 2mm thick. Is that a preferred size or would a 25x25mm base better, or 40x40mm? (increasing to a 40mm size would also increase costs)

Would you prefer to buy them cast or would it be preferable to buy molds ala Hirst Arts style that lets you cast your own pieces?

Rough cost for resin would likely fall around $2.50 for a 1x3 tile (30mmx90mm) Molds would likely be around $25-$30 and make 3 seperate pieces per pour 1x3,1x2, 1x1.

These pics are not final versions.

Personally, that's a no, but they look good nonetheless. I just don't know what I'd use them for, is all.

The look good but for them to be work it you would need to do a 8 or 10" mold of each. Casting them in small sections gets old really fast.

I don't know about anyone else but I would be interested in molds to cast my own pieces. I would like to be able to cast multiples of those tiles to make a large modular board ala Zone Mortalis. That would make my dream of shipboard combat affordable and attractive without making me super poor. Would you consider making the molds "to order" if there isn't enough interest in mass producing them?

Great to see these are taking shape!

Those data terminals in particular look awesome (and would be very useful for some of the new missions in Paradiso, especially).

Are you set however on removing the keyboards? Somewhere like Paradiso, Acontencimento (actually, any of the frontier worlds) might well still have them, or at least you could make an argument for that being the case. Is there any chance you could have them as an option perhaps?

I'm still looking into the costs of the molds and if they'd be cost effective to make, it's definately an option I'll be looking itno.

I had them printed with the keypad in place.

Oh good, I was wondering where those were. I checked the price of O scale character pieces today at Udisco, and geez, 9$ for 2 trash cans and 6 cats.

Pre-painted too... it won't do.
