Nice.
I like to see the older minis getting a bit of attention. That land raider model is a classic. I remember when those things were all the rage, and NOW that FW is producing one at ten times the price, they are all the rage again. Awesome as ever skalk.

The old school LR is cool as hell! I also like the repurposing of the older Rhino's too. I have about 10 of them that I ended up converting out to become Ork trucks. As plain as they are, I like it b/c it opens them up for more conversion capabilities. Keep up the cool work!

Really good work. Looks the part and without any GW pieces. Especially like the Lambo' exhaust (as they hold a special place in my heart).

Dr H- Thank you. I placed 3rd! It is a small matter that only 4 people entered. I have an awesome Dark Apostle for my Cultists.
I've been very busy w/ IRL and getting things set for the Junk Pile contest, but this last weekend I took some time solely for myself and worked on my Iron Hammers. I have quite a bit of fluff for them but I'll post it some other time.

Definitely interested. They look nice and clean and wonderfully old school. Warpsmith looks legit too. Are you going to add weapons/bits to the other three tendrils?

@ Moltar / Galorn- I've been working on the back story a lot recently so I'll have it posted sooner than later. And yes, I'm going to add the Melta attachment on the Warsmith tendrils as soon as I find the specific one I'm looking for. I was digging through my Special Weapons bitz box the other day and found it has gone missing. It might be in my 'need to sort' misc bitz box.
@ monkeytroll- I really did not want to use newer equipment but I had a game recently where I totally forgot to use the HB and missed out on 6 turns of ST 5 AP 5 Heavy 3. Gah. I was playing against 'Nids and I was trying to chop my way through a ridiculous horde of Termagaunts and the thing that poops them out in close proximity. 18 shots could have been the game changer.
Obviously I haven't stayed completely within the RT / 2nd Ed range as I have the Havoc ML mounted on everything I can and I'm using current LC on all three Dreads and 2 ML. The original LC really never looked right to me and I only have one anyway. The Dreads are magnetized on both arms and the plastic is a lot easier for the magnets to support.
The Warsmith is (to me) a decent conversion and I can totally see him wearing different armor to support the bulkier backpack full of Mech goodies like an internal Melta powerpack and a Flamer fuel tank, plus all the servo stuff for the tendrils etc.
Everything is super clean and it is on purpose. The 'Eavy Metal team didn't start making things dirty and gritty until way past my first tour of duty during late RT and all of 2nd Ed. I'm not even using washes.
You may also notice I've gone w/ the Goblin Green while every other model I've done in the last 4 years has been grimdark wasteland. Again, it's on purpose. Quite a few of my Mk VI Marines were painted in 94-96 and GG was they way to go back then. And doing my best to keep w/ tradition, all the paint I am using is the original stuff I used back then. The Ral Partha steel & Ral Partha bronze had to be replaced as my original stuff did not withstand the test of time, but I am using the exact same pots of Boltgun Metal, Goblin Green, and Go Fasta Red. I won't be adding any colors to the palate. If it was good enough back then, it's good enough now.
I am looking for a 2nd Ed Vindicator. I liked the model but never picked one up until 2010-ish for my Plague Marines, and if I don't find one soon the Plague Marines will wind up with a new plain 'ol Rhino and the Demolisher Cannon will take a quick soak in some Pine Sol. The dormant Machine Spirit will awaken and serve a more noble purpose.

Well now, if you have the rhino I believe I can supply you with all the metal parts neccesary for the vindi
My Crusaders Penitent chapter use old-skool equipment, and the only way I could get hold of the old rhino for a while was by getting the vindicator, which wasn't updated for several years after the actual rhino, so I have several lots of most of the kit.
PM me your address and I'll get together a package for you.

Looking fun I'm especially looking forward to seeing the Warpsmith done up although one based upon an old style tech marine would be great!

Hmm.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, eBay score:
$65 including S&H for 4 MK1 Rhinos. They usually go for $20+ each even in terrible condition. I don't know what these will look like when they get here but I can guarantee they will wind up looking very 'belongs in Skalk's army' when I'm done w/ them.
