£90 does seem like a lot... especially when you consider you'll 'have' to add in another £30 for the "Cthulhu" expansion.

Plus another £20 to ship it all to the USA.

I really want to get this one, but it is easy to talk myself out of it at this point!

Or maybe I'm getting this mixed up with Achtung! Cthulhu's Kickstarter, and the "Cthulhu" expansion here is 'free'?

SO that means it is ONLY £120K for the Good Stuff?

One can hope!

There is a 'free' Cthulhu stretch goal at a certain funding level, AND a £30 expansion (which with the PDF rules which will eventually be posted to the DPG web site will be a stand alone game).

I think you could pledge the £30 plus shipping to just get the expansion if you wanted and were not interested in the WW2 historical/Hollywood aspect.

DPG games (if I remember correctly) also said the stretch goal content will eventually be for sale on their website so you could snag the othe Cthulhu content at some point.

Ack!

So I'm still on the hook for a minimum £140!

Plus those other expansions look nice... but they're at £20 each!

You don't have to buy the whole thing. You can just pledge the 45£ and receive the stretch goals noticed as "for all pledges" and purchase the rest, if you like the game, later on our website or in a store (we're discussing right now with distributors...)
The Cthulhu stretch goal is available at this pledge level and you can buy the Shadows over Normandie next winter.

Ho, did I mentionned that i'm one of the author ?

Thank you! Estimated price for shipping on Shadows over Normadie if bought separate?

We don't propose a pledge with Shadows over Normandy only, so it's a bundle with HoN and the shipping cost is the same (10 for europe, 20 for the rest of the world).
(if i understood well the question)

Sorry if unclear.

If I bought HoN now and then bought SoN later in the year, how much would the 2nd shipping be?

ha, mmm, heu... Pfiouuuuu. What can i say ?
I don't really know for the moment because we're negociating with ditributors. So it could be cheaper or at least at the same price. But it's not a statement...

SGT clem - So if we buy the main game + shipping, Shadows over Normandie ships at no additional cost?

Oh, and of course, welcome to Dakka Dakka!

That is good news - and... I'm in!

Probably for a few of the expansions as well!

All kidding aside, it is always good to see game develops/authors here on Dakka Dakka - and answering questions too!

Thanks!

No problem, i think it's a part of my job. I'm working hard to reveal our game to the world so I've to be involved into every aspect of the process. It's also a pleasure to talk with gamers interrested by a game i'm working on.

If people want to get their fix, but can't afford Heroes of Normandie (or can but want something during the wait), pick up a copy of Frontiers (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/29078/frontiers), which was their first sci-fi game, which Heroes' rules are based off of (and expanded upon).

The rulebook isn't very good, but it's definitely "workable". You can easily get the game nowadays for about 20 dollars, and it's an entertaining little gem. It uses an open-tabletop, rather than the grid of the WWII version, so it's is basically a 15mm scale wargame game without the minis.

Plus... if you don't mind Print n' Play, you can head over to Boardgamegeek, where Frontiers has tons of expansion material for free download. (Extra infantry and vehicles for the two main factions, more terrain/buildings, an entire third faction that's as big as the main two, etc).

You can get it on Tanga for about $7 plus shipping.

You're welcome.

I know of folks that have gotten extra copies and used the counters to glue the 'print and play' expansions onto... Also, it does come with a poster type map/terrain mat which is pretty cool, though made of paper.

I have thought of that. It would be a shame to replace the expansion material I worked so hard to make (I used spray adhesive, on top of hand-cutting all of the buildings and units), but the thought of getting it laser-printed at full 300dpi on adhesive paper at Office Max, and then doing what you said above is really tempting.

Shipping Costs updated
Update #37 · Apr 6, 2013 · 9 comments

As we said from the beginning, we were working on shipping costs. We received yesterday the new rates and are pleased to announce you a 25% discount !

We wanted to wait a little bit to tell the world to avoid a drop. But we decided to do it now.

So, we have a favour to ask you. Could you wait a little bit before adjusting your pledge (for example the two last weeks) to avoid the drop that would occasion a step back with the Stretch Goals.

Thank you in advance and thank you a lot for your support !

Premier jet des règles !
Update #39 · Apr 8, 2013 · 2 comments

First of all, we want to apologize to our english spoken backers. This first draft of the rules is only in french. Anyway, you'll be able to download an english version very soon.

Ici :

At this time, June 1944, the human activity couldn't let him unmoved... Here we are, Cthulhu's unleashed on Normandie and our next goal is :

To R'lyeh... Sorry, Berlin !

The people in that Krosmaster forum are absolutely delusional. It's really amazing.

What do you mean by delusional ?
And something else about Krosmaster. For me this is a shame they had the right to make a Kickstarter campaign.
They are a big video game companie and animation studio. They didn't need to do that to publish the game. ANd the worse part is... The game is already availbale in stores (at least in Paris). I was making HoN demo game at a store and Krosmaster was to sell !
:(

Will the expansions (Sainte-Mère-Église, Carentan, Pegasus Bridge and Shadows Over Normandie) be somewhat readily available later on?

And if so, through what channels/stores?

Thanks!

Don't disagree with you at all. As to why they're delusional:

1. They're complaining that some CMoN projects have things that actually have to be developed. You know....one of the things KS is actually for.
2. They're ridiculously optomistic about what they think the project is going to bring it $$ wise.
3. They have completely absurd expectations as to things that can be added to the campaign
4. None of them see the inherent problem in having the campaign be so top heavy instead of promoting more backers.

Honestly, I could go on. I really like the look of the game, but the fact that they're making it so hard to get some of the primary characters from the show drives me insane. At this point I'd prefer to just pick it up retail at a discount if I end up getting it.

Shame how poorly their campaign has been run, as it genuinely looks like a good game.

Love the art for Heroes of Normandie, for sure. And with the reduced shipping, it's becoming much more attractive to me.
