Achtung Panther !
Update #67 · Apr 26, 2013 · 14 comments

Here is a "wip" sample of a Panther tank for HoN (Panzer Lehr from the panzer group). As you can see, our models are quite in line in terms of historicity and design. Enjoy ! (Tactical markings will be added later).

Alph, I believe I have passed my kickstarter addiction on to you . I'm in the "recovery" stage... or rather, the "I spent several grand on Kickstarter last year and have nothing to show for it yet" stage, so let me see if I actually get stuff back on my investments

Really glad to see this do well, I am interested in it and would love to hear how you like the gameplay when you get the game! Maybe you can bring it to a Con we're both going to... AdeptiCon 2014 comes to mind

I've already been given approval for Adepticon 2014 - so sure, maybe I'll bring this game along for the ride!

And yeah, I've got a Kickstarter problem.

But I am getting better!

I've already passed on a few that I rally wanted in on...

MYTH comes to mind.

But then I went in for ARENA REX too...

...and, of course, HEROES OF NORMANDIE!

Sounds great . Time for me to get "approval", too...!

This campaign is at 4.5 times it's original target, so it did really well . Not seeing too much of an uptick at the end here, but I'm not sure if that tends to be different for "true boardgames" rather than "piles of miniatures masquerading as board games"

Agreed - I don't see a huge last few hours surge coming here either, but I'm quite happy with what we're getting already too!

Though having said that:

...it has been cruising along at a nice clip these last few days!

With an average pledge of £153!

Frankly they have done an amazing job of turning the trend around. I am amazed they beat 85K, and not just beat it but smashed it. The balance of 'free' add-ons to purchased extras was good. Though really expensive for a card board vice minis game, they have really exceeded what I thought they would on this project.

Same here!

I could NOT resist the "Shadows over Normandie" expansion, but I was able to resist all the others.

Even though they have a 'buy 3 get one free' deal, I could justify the additional £60/$90USD to do it.

Maybe later!

Gentlemen,

This is not a victory.
This is a HUGE SUCCESS !
This moment is awesome, YOU are awesome !
All this is thank to YOU ! We dreamt a game, you made it come to life !

When you will be old and that your grand children will ask you " hey gran'pa, what did you do during the great Normandie Kickstarter campaign you will be proud to say : I was there, standing proudly at the side of Devil Pig Games during these last ten unbelievable minutes."

We are full of joy and alcool so don't expect any communication in the next 24h00 (And as tomorow is sunday, that's two good reasons for doing nothing...).

Thank you again to all of you, you rock !!

PLAY HEROIC ! PLAY BLOODY ! PLAY HEROES OF NORMANDIE !

I've been sadly lacking with the updates here - apologies!

Least shocking news here?

The game is being delayed...

What's going on ?
Update #98 · Jul 5, 2013 · 32 comments

Yes, good question, what's going on ? Some people asked us on the Devil Pig forum at what point are we at two months from the release.
But before answering this question i've some news to tell.

First we were at the Q-Con in Belfast, invited by the wonderfull guys from Weegamers. A huge thank to them for their amazing welcoming and kindness.

We were today at the Japan Expo in Paris and we met some other great guys (we will talk about that later, you'll see) and worked for our game distribution.

We received 10 prototypes sample copies of the core game box, final quality from our manufacturer. To tell the truth we're more than happy about it.
Guys, IT'S AWESOME !
We're waiting for the wooden tokens to take a picture and show it to you. Next week i guess.

On the 10th we'll meet Chris from Modifius to talk about Shadows over Normandie.

And all this days we worked, work and will work hard on the game !
What's done ?
US command / US weapon platoon / US recon platoon / US Tank platoon / US Miller's rangers / US / alternate platoon / US/GE Extra units & véhicles set II / GE command / GE SS group / GE tank group / GE sturmpioniers / GE alternate platoon / More zombies / Dust mode / Achtung cthulhu mode .
Some details to finish and we will post those you didn't see.

Victim of our success and because we were very generous (yes, we were ! We don't regret anything and it was a part of our success) and enthusiastic, we added a lot of stuff we didn't expected.
It would have be OK if Essen doesn't exist. Our manufacturer told us few days ago that if we want to be ready for Septembre, we have to send him the files for the end of July. He has a lot of customers that press him because they want to be at Essen with their products then he pressed us.

We don't want to spoil our game quality for that so we decided to delay the release. We will be two months late and will deliver the game in November.
I'm sure you'll understand that and keep supporting us. You want the best so do we.

Ho, we have a surprise, the Landing became an entire scenario pack so we added punchboard and all of them pass from the 30X20 to the 30X30 format. This way we were able to add one section of US COMBAT ENGINEER and one section of FESTUNGSKOMPANIE. Boats are now tokens so are the Bunkers.

We know we don't feed you with enough updates those days and are not very present on the forum, sorry for that. We're focusing on production for the best.

Here's some Investigators and Cthulhu vilains...

We hope you're OK with that and let you know about our progress.

The Devil Pig Games Team

I think it will be well worth the wait!

I am sad that there is no ability to buy into this now, as I noticed it only after the kickstarter finished. Frankly it looks bloody good.

It is definitely something I will buy, as I am a huge fan of their first game "Frontiers". It was sci-fi based, and Heroes of Normandie is basically an expanded version of Frontiers, with a grid map system where Frontiers is open movement like minis games.

Unfortunately, their shipping to the USA was basically half the price of the lowest pledge that would get you a boxed set, for which I would rather wait for the retail release and save the 25 dollars.

I wholly expect the game to rock, though, as Frontiers is tons of fun.

GENCON !

rodeo bul

Ok soldiers, here's my report about Operation Gencon.

We were on the Iello US booth, invited by our distributor for USA. We made around 30-40 demos during these four days.

Everything went well. More than that i want to say... We have a story that tells how the public loved the game. Our first tester was an FFG demontrator. He loved the game so much that he came back the last day to tell us goodbye. I asked him if i missed a good game to buy for myself. His answer was "Heroes of Normandy". He played 30 to 40 different games and HoN was his favorite. He added that he usualy doesn't like wargames...

Marco did an interview of me so you can enjoy my wonderfull english. That's too bad he did it the second day, i was better the last one.

http://boardgamegeek.com/video/32519/heroes-of-normandie/video-preview-with-the-designer-gencon-2013

We drank a lot, saw tons of motorbikes, ride the rodeo bull, ate lots of burgers, walked too much, played too little...

Last thing, here's the Devil Pigs patch, hand made by french foreign legion official supplier. You can't see it properly but the silver circle is really silvery, not a grey lame stuff... Enjoy

I sincerely hope the general release of HoN is full of great stuff, because I am getting hugely jealous of the Kickstarter stuff and how cool it looks! I just couldn't justify the enormous shipping to the US, so I have to be satisfied by being "normal".

I was put off by the shipping too - initially.

Then it got lowered just enough for me to say - Screw it, why not?!?

We still have to work on the "D-Day" title graphism.

Americans finally did it but it was a slaughter !

Mezike about 2 hours ago

Chaps, check the previous updates! Specifically #98 and several of the ones that followed. The Landing stretch goal and the beach transition tiles were incorporated into a scenario pack with some additional free content. All pledges will get a copy with the base game! Quite frankly DPG are being totally awesome with this surprise addition :-)

Creator Devil Pig Games about 2 hours ago

It's the Landing (first & second stretch goals) we tranformed into our first scenario pack (we made an update about that). It's now called D-Day, and it's included into every pledge !

I didn't get in on the KS, but i would still absolutely buy a scenario pack like that separately when I am able buy the game at retail.

Update #120

What's up ?

Et en français, un peu plus bas...

So, at what point are we ?That's a question a lot of you keep asking and we kept not answering. Untill today. Because we did'nt have a proper answer... We do, now.

We finished a first batch and it's ready to go to print. Production will start at the end of the week. After that we will have to wait for the delivery in our storage facility then dispatching the whole stuff around the world to you, backers. Production should last for 2 to 3 weeks, 1 to 2 weeks for transportation and then 2 to 3 weeks for backers delivery.
It means you'll receive your package in 5 to 8 weeks. We're really sorry for the delay.

What's the first batch ? Why is there a first batch ?
The first batch is everything except the scenarios packs Sainte Mère Eglise, Carentan and Pegasus Bridge and Shadows over Normandie. We promised a lot and it was too much work for only two guys. We did a great job, we were commited to the game 10 to 12 hours a day and we had a huge pleasure to work. But we should have learn a duplicator spell to make it...
That's our first mistake.
The second was that we wanted to go to print once we receive our partners orders to save money on the print run. We should have launch our own production progressively without waiting for third parties. Now we know and won't make the same mistake twice. That's one of the reason we hired Stephane, the new team member, to manage this part of the business.
Yann and I are game designers and obviously lame quartermasters.

So, yes, there's a second batch wich, of course, is without additional delivery fees for you. We won't go to Bahamas for hollydays this year...

What else can we say ?Nothing. That's our fault and we don't blame others for that. We're learning as we're doing. You'll have more than enough to play waiting for the second batch, don't worry. We're sure that you will not explore all the facets of the first batch before receiving the second one. We think you don't fully apprehend what you'll get and what you'll be able to do with... You'll have a shock. And we hope, for the most hardcore of you, that the community will help us to supply you with new scenarios on our website. We will also try to put regularly « print and play » stuff to download.

But because we're who we are, we feel bad about that and decided to upgrade Shadows over Normandie. It becomes a stand alone game with almost the same amount of elements than the core game box (cards, Order tokens, tiles and punchboards). We know, it won't benefit to all of you. For the others we hope that the « piggy surprise » will be big enough to make you forgive us for that.

Cheers and thank you again for your amazing support.

Yann, Clem and Stephane

PS : We will be at Essen for those who want to meet us.
Booth is Schwerkraft's, Hall 2, F136.
We will be present on the booth :
Thursday : from 11:30 to 12:30 and from 16:00 to 17:15
Friday : from 11:00 to 12:30, from 13:30 to 14:45 and from 17:30 to18:15
Saturday : From 11:00 to 12:30, from 13:00 to 14:45 and from 16:30 to 18:30
Sunday : From 11:00 to 13:00 Le 20 octobre 2013 17:24
