Instead of focussing on army types that already exsist id like to see an army that is DISRUPTION. By that I mean an army that forces your enemy to second guess everything, like force opponents to take gets hot rolls all the time, opponents subtract x to movement. Force all opponents to count as moving through dangerous terrain. Saves, wounds, and hits are reversed. I.e. in krder to hit me you need to roll misses, if you want to wound you need to fail your to wound rolls, if you wanf to make an 3+ armor save you need to roll a 1 or 2. Or even be able to move units before your opponenfs roll to scatter when firing or deep striking, in order to cause mishaps or misses. Something else that I would like to see is perils of the warp happening regardless of a psychic tests results.

GW has been releasing codices way faster than they used to. They might have plans for a new factions to be released once they're done with the current ones.

We haven't even had 6th edition for a year yet, but we now have 4 codices and 2 supplements, with another codex rumours in May and another in July/August. With the rumour of Black Templars being rolled into Codex Space Marines, that would give us nearly 50% of the games codices within one year of 6th editions release. If they keep this rate up, we should have all armies updated by early 2015. Considering editions last about 4 years, that will give them a year or two of no releases. There's definitely something being planned.

The problem with introducing a bunch of minor races as allies is that it would generate a lot of whining from players that want their allies expanded to a full race. Then whenever things change and some unpopular minor race was dropped there would be nerd rage for 50 or more years to follow.
I dont think GW wants to do another "fantasy army in space" release so I doubt that space skaven (Hrud) will make from the fluff to the table top.
I think it is highly likely that the BT will be rolled into the upcoming SM codex so perhaps that will be the opening for a new faction. It wont be squats or something that looks like "dwarves in space" you can rely on that.

There's ways to do Hrud without making them Space Skaven. Being primarily sub-terrainean doesn't make them space rats.

Honestly, I'd be all over a Mechanicus codex. Especially if they put a Knight in as the oval base big kit. It's pretty much the only way GW will ever get me to spring for a new army anymore. Give us Mechanicus.

That's what I think, too. But don't forget that the entire Sisters of Battle range has to be redone. To all effects, getting them up to date would be like releasing a brand new faction.
Perhaps some other army is also slated for a big redesign. My bet's on the Imperial Guard - Some of the miniatures in that range are really starting to show their age- and maybe a chaos second wave with the promised plastic Thousand Sons and whatnots.
Beyond that? Rumor has it that Finecast is only a stopgap measure towards an all-plastic range of miniatures. If so, getting rid of Finecast would require some massive retooling. GW might want to have all their armies updated in preparation for that fateful day...

I believe, just trying to throw out ideas, that a short range shooting or melee army that specializes in stealth could be interesting. Imagine having squads upon squads deploying at the enemies door step before anything happens. A sorta sneaky sorta shooty but not full blown either.

Something that has not been done except by Codex:Catachans is an elite light infantry army. Where it is a really small army composed of non-spacemarine equivalents with very few vehicles.
What about the Codex:Xenos Hunters? There was a mention in an older 3rd-4th ed whitedwarf concerning the release of a Xenos Hunters army. As said by one of the guys along the lines of Kelly, Hoare, or somebody like that.
Speaking of which, does anybody use Codex: Catachans anymore?

The Ordo Xenos doesn't deploy like the Hereticus or Malleus, as they don't have a standing military force they can use. The Malleus can call on the Grey Knights, and the Hereticus can call on the Sisters, but the Xenos mostly just calls on the Deathwatch Killteams for clandestine operations, or gets the Guard in for larger operations.

Yeah, just like they did for Lost and the Damned, Craftworld Eldar, Kult of Speed, Tyranid Seed Swarms, Kroot Mercenaries...
GW doesn't like doing this. It's pretty obvious since they have plenty of unsupported armies from 3rd and 4th edition still.

I still feel the best chance for a allies supplement will be from forgeworld, besides I would love to see their take on Zoats, or teralian dogsoldiers, or various new kroot off shoots, plus it would be a nice tidy way of adding small force contingents to the game and testing the waters for future expansions due to popularity.
Hell I would love to see a flora and fauna section in that supplement with various "neutral" lifeforms that could be added to a game, like a catachan devil or some such, and giving it some random activity rules, there are all kinds of coolness that could come from this line of development.
I have done this stuff before for my game groups but to see a professional approach to it would be awesome.

Of course they are - as would any models made for an allies supplement, just like Squats are still useable. They're Citadel miniatures and can be used to represent anything similar in stats (like Guard). Armies built with those army lists, however, are not useable without basically reworking into another army. People with a Kroot Mercenary list can't, for example, properly field them using the Tau codex. They're useable, when placed in a legal army.
The army rules and lists specifically, GW does not keep updated.
So yes, if they did an allies codex, you could still use the models if the codex was later dropped. Just like any citadel miniature. You wouldn't be using them as you intended to originally, because GW just doesn't support dead army lists.

Before I settled with Eldar due to my dislike of the new Tau, I was, obviously, going to do a Tau Army. I hated just having Tau though in an army that should have some humans, some Terralian (sp), some Demiurge (sp) and so on. So I was going to custom make all bar 2 of my Firewarrior squads in around a 3,000 point army. That way I could just change it up when I wanted to and have the allies in there too.
Personally I'd prefer them to do more of the mini-codex again. Craftworld Eldar is one that should be redone for example - but as usual Space Marines get pretty much all the love here...
If they did a new race I'd rather they did Terralian Dog soldiers. A mercenary army that will have kinda salvaged technology but won't look scrappy like the Orks, it'll just be reverse engineered instead.. They'd have good and funny fluff too and an original look.
The Hrud would be amazing too. A bugger to paint but they'd look amazing. They'd be very interesting to play as.

the only problem is with the current game types its really impossible to introduce a vehicle based army with minimal troops.
The armoured company was legal for a while. I don't remember the exact army compositions but I think they had about 7-8 Russes and a couple Demolishers in ~1850 points.

I dont think its necessary just about filling in an army type it would just be nice to see a new army. I personally find it abit boring that ak armies are essentially bad guys in some way or form I would like to see some really goody two shoes!
An allies codex would be good, similar to dogs of war I guess.

As far as new mechanics go, I had an idea a while back for a bimodal army. Basically, every unit in the army would have two different profiles, with different strengths and weaknesses, and you could choose between them each round. For example, the basic troops would have a shooty profile and a defensive profile. In shooty mode they'd have BS4, T3, 5+ armor, and in defensive mode they'd have BS2, T4, 3+ armor. Meanwhile their WS and S would be very low in both forms, maybe 2s. So you'd have the ability to bunker them in on an objective, or make them more fragile but also more deadly, while they would always be vulnerable to melee. Vehicles would be able to shift armor to protect certain facings. The idea here would be an army that does most of its adaptation to enemy strategy in the actual game rather than in the list-building.

Hey Fellas,
The coolest thing GW could do would be to release a "Tour Of the Outer Fringes"
Monthly releases in WD that would give us a new Unit / Character and a Miniature release to go with it.

Yeah, I know. their line is still pretty incomplete, though, and I'd like to see GW's take on Space Skaven. Frankly, again, regardless of my misgivings about the company, most of GW's sculpts in the past few years have been quite, quite good. I have to admit I might be willing to pay GW's prices for Space Skaven, depending on how they were done, if not for the fact I think the company is on the wrong track in a lot of other ways, but that's a bit off-topic. I like a few of their other armies, but none of them enough to pay the asking price.
I do plan on picking up some of those Space Rats whenever I finish my other projects, but that's only if I think I can either figure out what to proxy them as in 40K and come up with a decent list that uses only those rat men and other third party minis, or if I think I can drum up interest in Warpath. I'm a gamer first, and not much of a collector/painter/modeler; all of that is peripheral to the gaming (though they're definitely positive aspects) for me, so if I'm not going to use miniatures in a game, no matter how cool they are I won't buy them.
