Models look nice. Game does not interest me in the least.

If they had better package deals for the models, I'd be in.

I like this. I remember their was another "Digitally enhanced" minature game a few years ago, and they had allot of missteps, design flaws, higher coast of entry, and alot of really dumb looking miniatures.

(Edit: Ah! Ex illis was it's name! But yah. Between Miniature DMR, high coast of entry, bland generic setting, and a host of other issues that game crashed and burned prety hard. Golem Arcana realy feels like it paid attention to the mistakes that made.)

It feels almost like they paid attention to thows mistakes and used alot of thows lessons in making this game.

Question I know I have about this game:

-What kind of plastic is the prepainted figures? Is it that rubbery plastic other preprinted are? How easy is it to repaint the plastics?

Alot of these figures look like they got some realy good detail for pre-painted, and could be fun to repaint in different colour schemes.

They've said they're considering a pledge where you can get unpainted versions of the 4 codex factions instead of the prepaints(but the ones included with the base game will remain pre-paints).

Update:

Hey Everyone! THANK YOU for the great start! 20% of our goal on the first day??? Huzzah!

Here’s more great news - we've been listening to your feedback and have decided to move our figure unlocks from the Stretch Goals section directly into the Optional Items Menu.
That means you can purchase the Urugal Necromantic Fencer, Gudanna Blood Channeler, Zekia Fen Lord, AND the awesome Durani Colossus right now!

Seeing a Colossus on the battlefield can cause even the most seasoned warrior’s knees to tremble. It takes up an entire terrain region on the board. It has four attacks. And it requires three Golem Knights to control it - which means you can take advantage of all three Knight’s special abilities!

But that’s not all! Because all the figures are being unlocked for purchase without a stretch goal, we’re going to lay out a roadmap, so you’ll know what figures are coming and which codex they belong to. They’re still in development so we can’t show all of them to you today but the roadmap will show you how many there are and which codex they’ll belong to. We will reveal which ones they are and what they look like over the next several weeks as their concept art becomes available.

Because we’re moving all our figures from the Stretch Goals list onto the Optional Items Menu, we’re reworking our entire set of stretch goals. That means some really cool Software Features and Bonus Items will appear earlier in the stretch goals - so stay tuned! We’ll put those up at a later date.

The updated codex's for each faction:

Enjoy.

For those completionists/wanting a better deal, due to popular demand the developers have announced a pledge level for 1 of every figure which should go live in the next few days

also as of today the stretch goals are being reworked, all minis are available from the beginning, the new new stretch goals are all either free stuff or upgrades for the central app

Awesome, hey John great to see you here.

If you don't mind me asking is there any chance we could see some bigger 360 shots of some of the golems, its hard to see all the details on the KS pics (their kinda small).

John, is there any chance of you selling unpainted plastic models? The resins are not any cheaper than the prepainted minis, and I don't want either of those options, anyway.

for anyone interested there will be 2 new pledges that have been asked for

1. a 1 of every mini pledge

2. a 1 of every mini in unpainted resin pledge

a lot of people have been asking for these so they should have them up in the next few days (im not a developer i don't know precise dates)

cheers, matt

I like this one. The aesthetic isn't my favorite, but the concept is interesting enough to pull me in to backing. The way it's presented leads me to believe you can use the pen as much or as little as you want for actual gameplay, assuming the movement and combat mechanics are exposed.

I can't say there is 'no chance' as the project evolves, but currently the two options you mentioned are what we're focused on.

Hi folks,

Got a shot to show off that is a bit higher resolution than what's on the Kickstarter page showing off the Durani Harpy, Winged Preserver, and Fire Ram.

If I can get anymore I'll share those as well.

Click on the image for full resolution.

Update:

Hi again!

We thought you'd like to see the new Urugal Necromantic Fencer in more detail. Here it is from concept art through 3D sculpting to a final rendering of how it will look without paint.

And here's the badboy of the battlefield, the Durani Codex Colossus with a scale reference so you can get a sense of its ginormity.

We can't wait to show you more golem figures as they move through preproduction!

Enjoy.

After looking at those high-res pics, I'm definitely feeling Durani the most out of the four codexes...

It'd help 'em sell their product if they'd some what the figures look like when painted by an expert, not just the rough 'n ready prepaints.

Considering that the miniatures will largely be sold as pre-paints, that would be deceptive of them to show pro-painted versions of the miniatures...except maybe in an update should they end up selling individual unpainted resin versions of the golems.

Hey John, I like your world and I've been working on one that's pretty similar, a lot of stuff I have I think would slip right in if you needed more content. Wrote this up a bit ago, lemme know if this is what your going for.

The golems

“There are no walls thick enough to heed these monsters, our forts are tinder and our weapons, toys.
I pray now for all tribes and empires of this world that do not count these golems among them. For they too are doomed to fade in the night.”
- Olis Wolf-King of the fallen Wolven empire

When the first codex's were revealed, tribes became empires and empires fell to dust. The landscape of Kalth was changed virtually overnight when the first golems were made. Tribes, kingdoms and empires pursued ancient rivalries without remorse. Let loose on their enemies, mindless golems killed indiscriminately and were free from the moral bondage of their masters. Power lay with the hand that held a codex, the books of light that could only be read by those with “The golden blood”. During this age entire peoples perished without a trace, the bloodlines of millions of people cut short, no heirs to pursue their holy revenge, no ears to hear their dying plea's.

After this dark period, when the dust had settled, the people of the new empires had witnessed the carnage that their leader had unleashed. The ones with golden blood, now kings and emperors found themselves hated and feared by their own people. The wise enacted new laws to limit their power and place restrictions on the use of golems, laws that required golems to have riders, so that they might prevent the mindless bloodshed that yet stains their hands.

Update:

We have two new reward tiers available!

The first one is $375 and is streamlined for those of you who only want the base game and one of every additional pre-painted figure. The second tier, at $475, is for folks who want all of the above PLUS Beta access. Check them out and tell your friends about them!

Today, we’re putting a spotlight on the intimidating Fen Lord, a Titan crafted from the Zekia Codex. Titans are considered the main offensive weapon of any faction. While they move a bit slower than the smaller War Sprites and Ogres, Titans compensate with three destructive attacks which can be used each turn. Their size makes them equal to two of the smaller golems and thus, they take up half a square map region.

Here is the Fen Lord from concept art through 3D sculpting to a final rendering of how it will look without paint.

Enjoy.

They are releasing unpainted resin figures for individual purchase, but they're dependent on receiving orders during the Kickstarter of at least 50 total per mini. You don't have the option between painted and unpainted in the core game; everything will be pre-painted plastic miniatures.

Tim, exactly what Drunken Boxer said.

DufenDorgen, I would suggest watching our careers page, (http://harebrained-schemes.com/about/job-openings/)
For anything that catches your eye when we go looking for more folks.

What do you folks think about the fiction we're working on, (more of it can be found under the 'Lore' tab at http://golemarcana.com/)?
