Yeah, that would be nice. I thought about getting DV simply for the steal of getting a bunch of marines, chosen, and Terminators on top of it all, if I didn't have to worry about breaking my first models trying to shave off the insignia of the Dark Angels because I don't intend on collecting them at all in the near future.

I'd rather just see a 50 dollar rulebook that is clear and concise than a new starter. Lately starters suck in that they are the only way to get certain models from the codex for the armies contained. Deth Koptas, Chosen, Hellbrute, etc. To blatant of a way to try to force people with that army to buy the starter if they don't want to convert those models. You can always shop for the bitz, but it's stupid for GW not to produce them in separate unit boxes, especially on starters that are out of print, like Black Reach.

Some of us would like those units without getting "more" Space Marines.

I expect it'll be SM vs Necrons. The dream for me however would be Nids and SoB. That would sell so well, an everyone would sell off the bid part for really cheap!

I want to see something that represents the way the game has been heading.

So, a riptide, a wraithknight, two inquisitors and 22 tac marines. (Plus 2 power swords and crested helmets to make 'captains'.) Mix and match at will! Lol...

In all seriousness, though, bugs vs. Guard would be so cool.

It will be 2 relatively new armies. My guess is nids and guard. What would be utterly amazing is if they stuck something of armor in the box for the guard.

Well, my wishlist 40k starter box has always been "Massacre at Sanctuary 101".

It's the perfect set up for a starter box. Horders of basic bad guys, just like dark vengeance (necron warriors galore, supported with a single overlord and some scarabs and destroyers), with a small number of elite heroes (battle sisters, seraphim and a canoness). You wouldn't even need the Immolator or the Rhino from the original box, although one of the two would be awesome.

It also represents all the basic types (infantry, jump infantry, jetbike, beast, maybe vehicle), could easily be altered slightly to include monstrous creatures (tomb spyder) or walkers (penitent engine), making it good for teaching games. It includes mixed armour saves (3+, 4+ and 5+), different strength/ap weapons (bolters/gauss flayers, staff of light, meltaguns, gauss cannons), it includes single and multi-wound models... a ready made scenario that can easily be altered into a short campaign (first encounter, running battle, shrine defence). It includes template and potentially blast weapons (flamers, tomb spyder)...

It's the perfect set up for a starter box. You literally couldn't ask for anything more to be included for teaching people the game and introducing the lore (Sisters epitomise the Imperium's do-what-we-must-to-save-what-we-can attitude even better than the glory boy space marines, while Necrons are the face of the Implacable Threat).

So why the heck has this never been a thing?!

thre is no 7th ed coming this soon.

if anything its a repackaging / limited edition that will include the ain rulebook and all the supplements, all in one, with special cover, inlays, inserts, etc. itll also cost the total of all books plus 15% just because its gw.

but it wont be 7th.... so this topic is moot.

I don't care what figures are in it, just clear concise rules, with little in the way of ambiguity and an errata/faq sheet for all the printed codex speacial rules wargear would be sufficient.

While I'm at it, I'd also like an end to poverty and war......

That's all it's really going to be. In true and wonderful GW fashion, you won't be able to get the updated rulebook without padding their pockets by buying the Superheavy and Fortification supplements as well.

Don't let forum love of sisters become a mistake of society yearning for sisters as an army.

Personally, I love the Guard vs Tyranids suggestion, as that would appeal to other sci-fi folks. However, I think Marines vs Tau or Marines vs Tyranids would also do well.

Marines sell, and they sell well. Regardless of fluff Marines are the most popular army, which is fine. Look at most stories, games, movies, etc. The special snowflake is the norm and not the other way around. Terry Pratchet has a great bit about this with the million to one odds rule. Where in one scene they actually try to make the shot more difficult so that the odds will get closer to a million to one so that they know they will be successful.

if guard vs tyranids makes an appearance it should definitely come with good quality terrain and missions that mimic scenes from 'starship troopers'

i've loved the miniatures from the last two starter boxes so deep down i'd be happy with just an updated rulebook.

What would be a great reversal would be to give the IOM the horde for once, in IG, while the enemy get a small, elite army. Chaos Space Marines. I'd love to see a setup something like this:

IG:
Commissar
1 Platoon Command Squad
2 Platoon Infantry Squad.
1 Veteran Squad
1 armoured Sentinel

Chaos
Demon Prince
10 Chaos Space Marines
5 Chaos Terminators
Possibly something else.

I doubt it's balanced, but it does give you 2 very different armies and covers most if not all unit types and rules. Of course, we're only going to get SM vs something else.

All jokes aside, you can't consider anything for the Imperial side other than Space Marines. Period.

I would like to see marines with some kind of centurion suit or a new larger never seen before vehicle/walker.

The opposing force could be chaos with new types of daemonic vehicles.

D weapons should be mandatory.

that goes beyond forums, that goes out into the shops and the offline gaming community. heck, it goes outside the gaming community and into the pure painting hobby.i bought a seraphim for my ex-wife and painted it up for her as a gift. had there been a afordable unit, i would dont that instead.

MANY gamers dont want an army of them but would love to have a unit or two to use as allies.
MANY men would buy them as ways to entice their better haves into the hobby.
MANY would buy multiple sets to build an army from scratch.
MANY would buy it to stockpile for resale or "just because".

I know i would buy a few sets of them just for coolness value to use as allies.
You can bet that the other army would likely be dirt cheap online. lol

I would also love to see a Battle for Big Toof River starter set. Or the smaller one for the farm. Battle for orks drift.

I hope they don't do sisters. I can see it putting off new people. Like those fantasy game adds with boob ladies on it haha. Plus only a few people would buy it in my opinion but would probably buy heaps of it.
