Those who have the limited edition however have the mini rules as a bonus. I wonder how much they will go for on ebay etc?

My plan is to see what the Digital Download options are like. I have all of my other necessary books and stuff on my e-reader because I really don't like schlepping a bunch of hardbacks around to gaming venues.

I ordered it online, from GW. Gasp! Yeah. And the new mission cards too. Why? I had wanted to get some of their online exclusive stuff, and this took me over the free shipping. Plus I want the book day one, on Saturday.

I preordered from my local game store with the psychic cards and mission cards. If it had not been three separate books I would have gone digital.

I like having the rulebook in print, but everything else is digital for me.

The new core rule book feels like a get-one-pay-three-deal. Why can't GW sell
the rules seperate from the background (which doesn't change anyways)?

I won't be buying it. The Gallery book can be seen for free on the GW site, in HD and 360 spins. The Fluff is near as makes no difference the 6th Ed book, and the rules look to be largely bad and/or pointless.

I don't want Space-Wizards getting their own phase (as far as I'm concerned, magic should be a minor part of 40k, and much more passive than active), if I wanted to ignore the FOC I'd be doing it already, and the new missions just add another layer of pointless/random.

IF there is a new starter, and IF it has BA to the quality of DV (as rumoured) then I might get it for the minis and have the book as a bonus, but until then we'll be sticking to 6th.

EDIT: The only thing I want out of this release is the Art book (I've been wanting something like that for a while) but of course, that's not part of the box set and is a separate 45 quid book, so no way.

Ordered the tactical cards and the rulebook from Legions Games in Pittsburgh, Pa. 20% off preorders if you pay in advance. To me its a no brainer. I have zero intention of dropping the game and it will be a must have.
Almost every edition has been better then the previous. Why would this be different? Especially with all the stuff GW leaked. I look forward to the new ways to play.

I'm buying a rulebook for my gaming group. If they wish to look upon the tome of wasted income, they shall have to pay a toll/pitch in for the purchase of said rulebook.

My pre-order is in for the rulebook and the 2 card sets... really looking forward to it.

So if we already own the automatically updating core rules, will they update them to 7th. Anything else makes them vampires in my opinion. I just bought the (brilliant) iBook version of the rules before the 7th ed news broke. I've been away working and literally haven't had a single opportunity to play a game with it yet. So hacked off.

Wait for the starter set version and play other games in the interim. Hang with the other 40k duders who will be rolling sixth for awhile longer.

I'm buying the special edition

Pre-ordered from my FLGS for $55 with club discount. I'm pretty sure that's like $20 less than what I paid for the 6th BRB so I was surprised.

Theres free returns to GW, so might as well buy it, and if it doesnt fit your wishes, return it.

I plan on waiting for someone to sell just the rulebook on e-bay and snag it that way. Don't really want the other parts as the storyline probably the same as 6th which was the same as 5th which was the same as 4th. Past that i don't know because I never read 1st 2nd or 3rd.

I will purchase from my FLGS when it comes out.

1. I like to support them as much as possible.
2. I want to keep playing the latest edition of 40k.

There is no point pre-ordering. All that does is get it posted to you on release day, which means you get it after everyone who buys it in store.

My current plan is to hold off until after the end of the financial year, and then unless some Oz seller has it for a pretty phenominal discount, buy it off eBay.

Although I had been considering just getting the digital version for starters, since I don't have a huge amount of faith that this edition will be any better than 6th... $60 for the ebook format if I use a proxy to get the US price is a little more bearable.

Our gaming group decided this will be our last edition of 40k...and if its worse than 6th, we'll stick with 6th. (Of course, who know if everyone's mind will change whenever 8th comes out). Once the Necron hardback comes out, I'll have everything I want 40k-wise except the odd model here and there, and its on to spending my money on historical games, where the battles were real, and the figures are cheap.

Im in the same situation with 40k pretty much. Unless 8th changes my mind.

This will be my first BRB purchase. I always wanted a fluff/hobby book of 40K and this 3 book edition seem to do quite well with the updated Knights fluff.

I'll buy it from any source that offers the 20% off discount.

If the rules are generally concieved as bad. I will sell the rules portion when the new 40K Starter set is announced with the mini rulebook included.

Even though I just bought the 6th Edition BRB two months ago, I will probably pre-order the boxed set for 7th. I'm in love with the fluff and artwork of the world, so I don't have a problem with the "extras" that come with the rulebook.

I do wonder when they'll finally get around to updating the Dark Eldar, though...

Given the ltd ed version has a small version in it, and DV WILL get the new small rulebook, that seems likelty. however a delay also seems likely - because that way it increases their overall sales. Lots of people *wont* wait. (See: how every automotive manufacturer in the world works. Not everything is available at launch!)

This is the same book they used to sell, in terms of core content, split into three (making it more expensive) in a slip case (making t more expensive) but for the same price. This means the bit you usually want to carry is smaller -t eh rules - meaning you dont necessarily HAVE to buy the small rulebook, like everyone used to.

this is actually a good, player friendly move (not debating the release of 7th, just the format of the book) yet, of course, now people are asking just for the rules alone. well, as for 3 editions previously, you'll get a small rulebook. You will just have to wait while the premium product sells during the premium window - launch.

I'm just stoked to see which people I know will be in the new book - seeing the Taylors and James Karch (now full time on 'eavy metal, as he should have been since the start) in there was frigging awesome. Hope for more of the same!
