Twin hand-flamers on the Sergeant. Models may have two pistol class weapons and fire them both in the shooting phase.

Is it confirmed he can take two of them? Someone brought up the way they word the options "switch x for y" but I didn't see it answered.

I haven't seen it confirmed yet but a lot of rumor threads became whining threads so it's more likely I just missed it in the clutter.

it is a worrying trend though. Just looking at Dark Angels this makes me shiver my timbers.
Just HAVING to have scouts in a pure RW or DW List is off-putting. So I feel with my red brothers here, it just takes away from your playstyle (and in the case of DW is horribly unfluffy!)

I actually nowadays nearly always take Scouts to my DW lists since DW is so horribly overpriced, I just can't do without a cheap scoring unit. So it wouldn't be a big change, although obviously I'd prefer DW remaining troops.

I'm a big BA fan and was close to starting them based on old WD codex (!) but the Wardex totally killed my interest so I went with Deathwing instead. This new book actually looks like big improvement in both making more sense and becoming more effective army. Sure, if the all-jump pack army was your 'thing' the changes are unfortunate. Really, GW never should have gone to that direction with BA.

They haven't always been fielded as all Assault Marines, so I don't care.

I like throwbacks to the game I started playing.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Don't worry, they'll probably be back in a few, shiny (and pricy) supplement book released the week after the codex

Speaking of the shiny new supplement, why has GW not released info on it yet

Worst case: it's not coming.
More likely: everyone is so caught up on the Codex that it won't be announced as upcoming till the next White Dwarf so it's still 2+ weeks away.

It looks like Shield of Baal: Exterminatus will be the BA supplement in the same sense that Leviathan was a supplement to the Tyranid book.

Kinda hoping for a Flesh Tearers supplement but I'm really not sure what it would include, maybe assault terminators kinda like The Red Butchers?

Sent in an email letting them know I won't be buying any GW product while the oversight about BA assault marines not being troops exists. Suggested that they could simply errata them to recover me as a customer.

If you are also one of the ones affected, or you just want to chime in because you might be affected by something similar (such as bikes not being troops for white scars, or necron immortals jumping out of troops section, etc,) then here's the only place I found to go to to send them some feedback.

I honestly don't think they will errata it. If anything, they will put them in a supplement. A formation or a special detachment that will allow them as troops instead (if they do so). With everything becoming scoring, the whole ability to shuffle force org slots has begun to vanish. A thing of the past. (or purely reserved for supplements in rare cases). *shrug* I hate to see another play sit it out, but I think people know by now that no amount of angry letters will change GW's mind once they have decided on something.

They'll shrug it off. They get enough sales just fine.

Blood Angels are probably the only Space Marine chapter I'd play. I don't really like Assault Marines so I probably wouldn't use them anyway. The thing I'm most... Annoyed? About, is WS4 on Death Company, and them not being troops anymore. But apart from that, is there anything else I've missed that's really bad..? I've seen a lot of people whining but mostly it just seems to be about AM not being troops.

You can take 7 Elite choices though in the BA specific formation so Death Company in elites doesn't mean much.

I'm intrigued about the Priests more than anything.

How exactly are you getting 7? Everything so far has pointed to 4 with one compulsory.

unbound is fairly idiotic.. just because you're playing with friends doesn't mean you want to abandon all competitiveness and lose your army wide rules.... for example tell a dark eldar play to take unbound loosing his bonus in night fighting or say buff from haemonculous coven....

Sorry, but could you elaborate on this?

Since when does Unbound make you lose army-wide rules?

I think he means, you lose the bonuses for detachments. By definition, you also lose bonuses for formations, chapter tactics, coven, etc..

Citation? The closest thing I could find is that the 1st company deploys with JPs when not in terminator armour, which would sort of lend credibility to the whole elite slot thing.

Ah. Given that most people would be playing with two HQs anyway, it would just be a matter of filling troops out.

Actually........we have a way to Boost your WS now , so you can get them back to WS5 +1Int and a power that gives you plus 1 attack (on top of rage). S0o0o0o0o my DC army just got a lot better :-D . Yayyyy my friends will hate seeing my Black marines again.

**Edit** also you have a +1 ST. with furious Charge.

Yea there's a potential for 6 WS5 int5 st5 attacks on the Charge, with Astorath Re-roll Failed to hit + wounds or with just a chaplain failed to hits. Throw a couple Power swords in there and watch your opponents cry

So I know it's only rumours at the moment but I've seen in a few places the loss of ASM as troops....

Dunno about everyone else but this makes me worry that we've just become the "red" space marines..... I was initially worried when the new tactical blood angels box set was released and it seems my worries were well founded...

An army where it's entire special rules+warlord traits focus is around assault and jump packs, and then to take away their stable troop choice in favour of slow non-assault troops which you have to have 2 squads of...... dropping prob 200 or so points essentially completely out of sync with the rest of your army.

Maybe I'm worrying about nothing, but considering how many assault marines I have and how the past 3 editions I've had a team where it's entire focus is fast combat.... these rumours are disappointing to say the least.

Worrying about nothing? Lol most of the main changes of the new codex are already leaked here:

Words cannot describe how fething enfurating that is.

Old psychic powers replaced with new terrible ones? Yes
Honor guard straight up deleted? Yes
ASM troops? Of course not.
Tycho even borderline usesble? feth no.
Chaplains buff DC? Nope.
Godawful relics? You betcha.
Mephiston Lord of Death again? Nope, still lord of spankers.
Access to Astartes tech? Nope.

Worst of all Sang priests take up an HQ slot.

Dante is now a proper badass
Points drops

feth GW in their greedy asses with a morningstar mace. They made us wait two fething editions to have our codex, already the worst by a mile, nerfed. Ill keep an eye out for a cool supplement, but as of now there is no way in hell Ill EVER drop money on.another GW product. Not.finishong my Necrons. Not picking up planned steel legion to back upy CF.

seriously, the codex isn't out for all consumers yet. it's not like they rolled the codex into Space Marines either. It's still it's own codex with special rules and units.
