Lore wise I would have to say my favorite units:

The Drop Pod: I mean it's simple but what screams Space Marine more than this one piece of equipment, screaming out of orbit, slamming into the ground blowing open to send death into the heart of the enemy.

The Space Marine: the Ultimate defender of humanity, and the shining Relic of a long gone era, still burning and fighting with all of their fiber first the goal laid out by the Emperor.

The Baneblade. 319 tons of armored "feth you!".

Picking a favorite unit is even worse than trying to pick a favorite army. I think I might have to give it to Chaos Sorcerers though. Based purely off of codex entries it sounds like the only restrictions a Sorcerer suffers from is their level of power and imagination, and as imagination is boundless and Chaos can provide many opportunities to increase one's power it seems likely that one could pull off some truly astounding shenanigans.

I think Death Jesters are pretty awesome. So good at killing people they find ways of making it funny.

I think someone else said it already, but Sternguard vets. They often get used as suicide squads in the game, but the lore is pretty different.

In all the 40k novels I have read, Space Marine dreadnoughts are by far my favourite. The way they talk and behave is just sooo cool. I also love how they speak in the original Dawn of War games (only played DoW 1 and its expansions).

Lorewise, I love the fact that a half dead marine gets wired to a great big killing machine, loves the carnage they do in the emperors name and the fact that they sleep/lay dormant most of the time and are only usually woken up for battle.

I love Titans. Nothing says "Humanity, Feth Yea!" Like a massive war machine with guns that can destroy cities in one shot.

Hard to choose, but Death Jesters maybe.

Stealth suits. The technology and tactics are both very interesting.

The Whirlwind Hunter.

From an STC, because in 4 THOUSAND years no one in the Adeptus Mechanicus could solder a radar dish and some missiles to a Rhino chassis.

Berzerkers all day every day. Lictors come in at a close second, though, as do Warp Talons. I just wish they were better...I do use Lictors a lot though, with Deathleaper.

Blood Angels Death Company. I just like the fact that they suffer from Bat Guano Psychosis and all of their buddies take and repaint their armour black. (Cue Rolling Stones; Paint it Black) Group them all together and point in a general direction and say "Horus is over there, see him? He is trying to kill DADDY!!!"

Nurglings and gretchin - I have always been a fan of the vicious, little weedy guys.

Deathwatch kill teams and eversor assassins are an absolute straight tie for me.

A chief Apothecary in a space marine chapter. In your hands lies the chapter's due and future.

Tankbustas. Rocket on a stick, nuff said.

I love the Dreadnought. I picture a guy with half his body ripped off, being drug away by his comrades, firing a bolt pistol at the enemy with his one good arm, yelling at the guys carrying to let him keep fighting.

Now, he is still living, not going to die. He wants to keep fighting, but he is way too damaged to do so in his current state.

So they put him in a giant, mechanical, suit of DOOM!

I love the way 1d4chan describes Dreadnoughts. As long as they still have functioning weapons, they will keep trying to kill you. Dreadnoughts are one of the things in my army that I give elaborate backstories. I have two Dreads and they both have names and descriptions of who they were prior to being interred and what their exploits since then have been.

I also love Terminators of all types. It is a shame that they suck so much in the rules. But still, I love their appearance and their concept. I do kinda dislike that they teleport to where they go. Given their heavily armored and hunched appearance, I would love to see them jumping out of Thunderhawks the way Assault Marines do. But whatever. They are nearly indestructible in the fluff and it takes a lot of focus fire to bring one down. Also, assault cannons.

The Cadre Fireblade.

The Idea of a Tau Fire Warrior deciding to stick in the trenches and help the new meat instead of taking up arms in a Battlesuit I liked a lot.

I always ran a Fireblade as my Warlord in my old Tau lists

Lictors or Wraiths

Necron Pariah.

The Solitaire. One of the biggest badasses in the galaxy, they look cool as hell, they have that mystique about them even to other Eldar, the actual extent of their powers and abilities aren't even known, I love how they pretty much live amongst other Eldar, hidden as seemingly normal people, and on top of that, every time one dies, Cegorach takes on Slaanesh with their soul as the prize for the victor. How badass is that?

Words can not actually express how happy I was to see that these guys and girls got some pretty badass rules and an awesome model.

Macharius Vanquisher heavy tank... Not bad, but point-wise inefficient.

Should be Heavy 2 S7 AP3 Large blast / Heavy 2 S9 AP1 Armourbane and have access to Infernus shells and Beast Hunter shells.
