X-Men Apocalypse
Captain America: Civil War

Screw the next four, my favorite this year has already hit theaters and the rest don't matter!

The Civil War movie has about as much to do with the Civil War comic as the Age of Ultron movie had to do with the Age of Ultron comic.

I just had to click 'Screw the 4' because of Deadpool, however I'm looking forward to all of them fairly equally (except Apocalypse, but that's only because I haven't seen the previous few X Men films yet).

Suicide Squad. I hate the idea of Civil War, haven't watched the previous X-men movie yet, and don't really care for Doctor Strange, but Suicide Squad looks like it will be fun as long as this isn't just one big con by DC.

Definitely none of the above.

I never really got a feel for the X-Men. Their stories just don't resonate with me. I don't know if I'm just not in their target audience, or if the franchise is just a big miss, but the X-Men just don't excite me.

Dr. Strange has...potential. The magical world in Marvel Comics has always disappointed me immensely, but when it comes to the supernatural, the Marvel movies have divorced themselves from mysticism as much as possible. If they go that route, Dr. Strange could be interesting, but the slim possibility that I'd like it more than the comics isn't enough to get me to deal with a theater experience.

Suicide Squad looks like they took the artistic license that comic movies are usually given and are running as far as they can with it. I think there will be some good stuff there, but probably some abysmal stuff too. This is the only one I might see in the theater, but probably not.

Civil War is a no-go. The Civil War in the comics was the impetus for me to quit buying Marvel entirely. Ugh. If the reviews are nothing but a glut of people having hysterics that the movie is nothing like the comics, then I might give it a try when it comes out for home viewing, but even then only if I'm not paying money for it.

Whoa, Negative Nellie, I hear you say, is there anything you ARE excited about?

The big comic movie I wanted this year already came out: Deadpool. (And it was awesome.) The other big comic book release (okay, it was originally for TV, but it had comics, too) was X-Files, and that already came out, too.

And while I know there is a BOAT load of internet hate for them, I'm also looking forward to Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles 2. (I'm a Highlander fan, so I have a pretty high threshhold for terrible sequels/remakes.)

Man. Just. I forgot those last 2 existed until you brought them up. I actually went to see the Jungle Book yesterday (decent film, pretty good voice acting) and they had the trailer for it, but ugh, TMNT2 is just another Michael Bay pleasuring himself for 2 hours. I mean the script seems almost non-existent, Megan Fox is a terrible April O'Neil, Shredder looks nothing like the original Shredder, and the turtles have no character depth at all to them. The only person I think is a decent representation is Casey Jones.

As for GB2, I saw the trailer. That was enough. It just looks like a PR stunt, some black/women jokes thrown in (i.e. the typical black lady is scared of ghosts schtick), and Chris Hemsworth being in there just to ogle, and he'll probably take his shirt off at some point.

I'm probably looking forward to Civil War the most, but I'll probably see all of them except Suicide Squad. I did thoroughly enjoy Deadpool and BvS, but Civil War will probably be the superhero movie of the year for me.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I feel like the only one who doesn't have any interest in Suicide Squad. It just looks like such a try-hard, by the numbers gritty thriller that it makes me yawn just typing about it. Also, Harley is the only character in the lineup I've heard of, and she sounds all wrong.

I'm excited about Civil War because I love quips and well-filmed choreograhy. I know I'll enjoy the film. Maybe not as much as Deadpool, but it will definitely be worth the price of admission.

X-Men Apocalypse looks decent, but I'm not expecting too much. My wife really wants to see it for Psylocke. ("Whoa, who's that?"). I'm not going to argue with her.

Dr Strange might be good, too. At this point, I trust the Marvel Brand to deliver, and that's the only reason I'd bother seeing it.

BVS is a tricky one for me, because I was expecting it to suck once the Doomsday trailer came out, and it pretty much did. It was a fun movie in parts, but not so much that I could forget the gaping, hours-long flaws. I'd rate it with SWTFA in terms of being fun to watch, but forgettable, flawed and ultimately disappointing.
