It's a good time to be alive for us comic book fans, as our favorite characters have been put onto the big screen, and most of the time (sorry, Lex and the entire FF last year!) the actors have done an awesome job filling some pretty crazy-big shoes. Which movie, of the ones left, are you the most excited for? I threw a fifth option in there in case you REALLY loved Batman vs Superman or Deadpool, and the next four are of no interest to you and you don't intend to see them. I know we've had big debates on whether DC is better than Marvel on the big screen, people attacking the non-favorite studio...so I thought it would be nice to see which movie is the most heavily anticipated.

Cap is definitely my most anticipated, but I doubt anything will beat Deadpool for me. But I think it'll be close.

Did I miss any comic book movies? I think 6 total this year is pretty impressive!

Also...this is my first poll on here! So be gentle...

Well, going into the year it was definitely BvS, and frankly, I can't see anything beating it; as I said in the other thread, I think it may be my favourite comic book movie of all time.

Suicide Squad I can't wait for either, mainly because everything we've seen looked awesome and if it's anything like Assault on Arkham it should be great. Apocalypse looks similarly epic, and there frankly hasn't been an X-men film I haven't liked (I enjoyed Last Stand and Wolverine Origins a lot, and don't count Deadpool even if it's technically part of the same setting as it's just so at odds with the style and tone). First Class/DofP/Apocalypse could end up being the most perfect comic book trilogy since The Dark Knight.

The thing Strange has going for it is that it's something different, and potentially just the shake up the MCU needs. Cumberbatch seems a perfect choice for the role, as the visuals and costume design and such look great thus far.

Bizarrely, I have every faith Civil War will be awesome, and I love the comic, but it's the one I'm least excited for this year... maybe it's because I basically know how it'll play out from the comic, maybe because it's sandwiched between BvS and Apocalypse that are both somehow 'more' than just Avengers punching each other, I don't know, I'm just not getting as excited for it as I was Age of Ultron or Guardians. I'm sure it'll still be every bit as good, but it's going up against very, very strong competition this time around...

Still, as someone who will basically watch any comic book movie, DC or Marvel (though not F4, always hated them), this is indeed a good year...

Hmm tricky

Suicide Squad looks awesome from the trailers

Last 2 X Men films were fantastic - hope this is one is the same but never a fan of Apoclaypse - but it does have Psylocke

Cap A 3 - also looks great - although spiderman in it is a downer for me

Hugely underwhelmed by Strange - looks like another Inception and I found that film tedious at best
.........

sooo - 3 hits and a single possible miss

Civil War hands down. Amazing plot, great actors, should be solid.

Doctor Strange looks good, and he's a pretty unknown character (in terms of mass marketing), so he's good to explore, and I like Benedict Cumberbatch in most films.

Suicide Squad is the only one I'm kinda meh on. Not a fan of Joker's look, even though I love Leto, and most of the pictures I've seen look iffy. I'll probably rent it from Redbox, but not gonna be one I see in theaters.

Ninja Turtles... Because it looks like it will be campy and stupid just like the original cartoon.

The Rocksteady/Bebop dialog so far is hilarious. I hope Krang and Shredder fight like an old married couple in this movie.

I also think Suicide Squad will be braindead fun... Which will probably do well, which will make movie execs crazy as they clamour to make a super movieverse out of DC properties.

Gotta say Doctor Strange, if only because it'll be a bit different from other comic book features I've seen thus far. Also looking forward to Black Panther. Seriously underrated hero that one

Suicide Squad for sure.

X-Men...eh. I really liked First Class, but as Singer gets more involved, my meh factor increases.

Avengers 2.5...not excited at all. I'm a Cap fan, and would prefer a Cap film to be an actual Cap film. Not : Umpteen Avengers! And Black Panther! And Spidey! And oh yeah Cap too.

It does appear that the concept of solo films beyond origin stories is just about dead at Marvel. Isn't Thor 3 even going to be a Thor-Hulk buddy film now? Their films are starting to blur together.

Nothing personal, but don't judge Civil War so harshly yet. Aside from having one of the best storylines (Iron Man agrees with president, says all heroes should register their legal names, Cap says no, we have to be independent, we can't be government controlled, fights ensue), it's got a knockout cast.

Also, that's what I like about Marvel over DC, everything's related. Sure, solo films are nice, but beyond origin stories, solo films don't really happen. Everything's too connected.

Civil War for sure.

I was never really a Captain American fan (outside of Ultimate Captain America), but the more Cap movies Marvel releases, the more I like him. The Winter Soldier is my favorite of the standalone Marvel films and I'm really looking forward to the next one (and so are my daughters).

I guess I'll go with Dr.Strange. I know nothing about the character or the movie but that lack of familiarity means it's the one I'm most open to. I'm not really into the X-Men stuff. I haven't really liked any of the DC stuff and the focus on villain (anti-hero in this context?) characters doesn't appeal to me on a more general level. I was literally falling asleep during the last captain america movie despite it being almost everyone else's favorite. So my overall initial impression of all these movies is pretty negative, save Dr.Strange. I generally like the marvel movies except Cap 2, especially when they've been introducing new characters I'm not familiar with. Some of my more comic-book nerd friends have been pretty hyped up about the character in general and it kind of sounds like they'll have to go off the deep end in terms of magical bs is is A-OK by me.

TN/AL/MS state line.

I'll hop on the Civil War bandwagon too. So far I haven't seen anything I don't like, and I really want to see what they do with Black Panther.

Bebop and Rocksteady look awesome, and will probably be the sole reason I see the new Turtle movie.

I just want it to be a Cap film period. Bucky...fine. Sharon, great. Fury...cool. They're Cap's people. Not Spidey, not Black Panther, not Ant-Man, etc.

I usually don't really like superheroes (apart from Batman, Batman is cool), but Suicide Squad seemed really fun from the trailer.

Personally, I voted for "screw the next 4" because Deadpool already came out....

But I am starting to move into the camp of "looking forward" to Suicide Squad, mostly due to the later trailers (the first one was kinda meh for me, but especially this last one made it look pretty good)

I'm also kinda looking forward to Civil War, just because I'm fairly certain that MCU has gotten "it" figured out, and we won't really be let down.

To be honest, PH and WWH have very little to do with Civil War other than being an excuse to get Hulk out of the picture so whichever side he chose didn't win automatically. They are awesome stories in their own right, though, and I hope we get at least elements of Planet Hulk in Thor 3.

CW is decent, but suffers from the same problems as most Marvel crossovers in that it's too short and too 'fat'- 6 issues per character, but so many concurrent storylines that it all gets a bit muddled. One of the reasons I prefer Avengers vs X-men, that was 12 issues rather than 6 and much tighter, everything of note was in the 'main' run, the tie-ins were just that, not essential (whereas you really need at least 2 or 3 other runs to really 'get' Civil War, I feel).

Can't say I agree with you, but I'm glad that the two are separate. If X-Men was part of the MCU it would be very crowded indeed. Plus the whole mutant thing is a separate issue on its own really.

There's rumours of there being a Deadpool cameo in a scene in X-Men, isn't there?

Ok, sure, I have an X-Men bias, so that's what I'm most looking forward to.

Civil War, it's weird. I'm like, "yeah, ok, sure, it's gonna be a great film" so I'm not excited about it? There's no element of mystery about it that gets me super excited about it.

Ok, sure, plot twists will happen. - Probably many and some major ones. But yeah, whatever. Whatever happens, happens.

Definitely none of the above.

I never really got a feel for the X-Men. Their stories just don't resonate with me. I don't know if I'm just not in their target audience, or if the franchise is just a big miss, but the X-Men just don't excite me.

Dr. Strange has...potential. The magical world in Marvel Comics has always disappointed me immensely, but when it comes to the supernatural, the Marvel movies have divorced themselves from mysticism as much as possible. If they go that route, Dr. Strange could be interesting, but the slim possibility that I'd like it more than the comics isn't enough to get me to deal with a theater experience.

Suicide Squad looks like they took the artistic license that comic movies are usually given and are running as far as they can with it. I think there will be some good stuff there, but probably some abysmal stuff too. This is the only one I might see in the theater, but probably not.

Civil War is a no-go. The Civil War in the comics was the impetus for me to quit buying Marvel entirely. Ugh. If the reviews are nothing but a glut of people having hysterics that the movie is nothing like the comics, then I might give it a try when it comes out for home viewing, but even then only if I'm not paying money for it.

Whoa, Negative Nellie, I hear you say, is there anything you ARE excited about?

The big comic movie I wanted this year already came out: Deadpool. (And it was awesome.) The other big comic book release (okay, it was originally for TV, but it had comics, too) was X-Files, and that already came out, too.

And while I know there is a BOAT load of internet hate for them, I'm also looking forward to Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles 2. (I'm a Highlander fan, so I have a pretty high threshhold for terrible sequels/remakes.)

Welcome to the Freakshow!

Of the 4, I'm only really interested in Suicide Squad, because it looks like the most fun and least overblown.
For me, the Avengers films, and the solo Avenger films, were all a bit... dull. Maybe I don't like superhero movies, or maybe I just don't like any of the Avengers, I'm not sure which.

Dr Strange looks like it might be ok, though I doubt I'll ever get around to watching it, and I did enjoy the 2 latest x-men films, so Apocalypse might be on my "Get it on DVD when it's cheap" list.

But yeah, Suicide Squad would be my pick of the bunch.

I'll probably go see all of them...but...

Suicide Squad looks to be a potential game-changer. Civil War will only be a good film if multiple characters (at least 2) get killed off and I don't see that happening...even though the MCU is massively overstuffed with minor heroes and needs a good purge, for the sake of simplifying plot lines and adding a degree of realism to the film.

Apocalypse will be interesting, especially with Storm as a villain. Isn't that Rodgers' girlfriend or wife in it as well? I doubt it will be as good as Days of Future Past. I'm thoroughly nonplussed by the Doctor Strange teaser. I'm afraid to get my hopes high for that one, even though I really, REALLY want it to be good. I'm extremely fascinated with magic, the Occult, and secret societies...it seemingly has everything I'd want to see in a film...but somethings are too good to be true.
