I know it's technically not an e sport, but that's the closest analogy, I.e.a game based on skill (rather than athletic ability) that would not normally be covered by mainstream media (I think it's going to be a while still before you see e sports on Sky Sports/ESPN)

Yeah but so are a lot of other actual sports. And twitch is hardly mainstream media. And ESPN covers all kinds of esports by now. And yea, that includes TV coverage.

If you have access to the archive can you download videos to watch offline? If I could get this for my daily commute I would subscribe in a heartbeat.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Yes, via third party tools.

He wanted to know whether or not you could download them at home, then put 'em on your phone and watch them offline on a train ride. Which you can do by using 3rd party download tools. Twitch itself doesn't offer that on their own - afaik.

sad to see that GW is continuing this trend of dickel and diming his customers. This should be viewed as an advertissement and a way to reach new customers, not a proft making venture

You're talking about the same network that used to cover Magic: The Gathering. ESPN hasn't been "traditional sports only" for at least a decade and a half.

Warhammer Live Mailbag will be a regular feature of our Thursday shows where talk about a variety hobby-related topics, and you'll have your chance to have your say!
We start off talking about Warhammer Live itself, specifically, what games you'd like to see from it in the future.

Is there a classic piece of Warhammer 40,00 lore you'd like to see re-enacted? An army of the Mortal Realms you want to witness in battle, or a grudge match between two iconic heroes you want to see resolved - let us know, and we'll discuss the best suggestions this Thursday.

I'm excited for this, AoS has been a delight to play lately and their streams have been improving (though still have a way to go).

Sucks that it's Sub Only mode, though :\

It is not sub only. You will always be able to watch live for free. The sub is for on demand stuff if you can't watch live.

I meant for chat, I like being able to talk to people during streams.

The sub chat only thing is a bit tight !

That might well put people off, lots of folk wont watch a stream if they cant chat.

Eh, it's not uncommon for Twitch in general. Cuts down on spam, especially for more popular channels. And for GW, who has so many detractors, blocking out shitposters is a pretty good idea.

Friday will be the same schedule with two 40k games. Campaign, so don't expect meta-breaker lists, but it should be entertaining imo.

Well, thankfully today was "Christmas Dinner" day, so there was no problem with me watching a good hour and half of Warhammer Live @ work while I waited for the "let's go to the restaurant" hour

I really liked what I saw, the 2 commenters were so much fun and the different (new!) camera angles were damn good! No more fixed top-camera, now you have sides too!

I had never used twitch before but I had to give it a go to see what the Warhammer channel was like as its fairly novel for GW to embrace social media. I quite enjoyed despite not liking AoS but I'd have liked closer camera angles and they need a dice tower or something similar with a tight camera angle so you can keep track of what people are rolling. A solid B+ for me and I'm looking forward to tonight's show to see what the dev studio guys have to discuss.

So... this is a thing where you pay to watch people play warhammer?

Any reason to pay for this over going to the local gaming store?

You can sit at home while painting and listen/watch people play.

You don't have to pay to watch live. The pay wall is for the chat and watching on demand. GW communicated this poorly.

And live games are only one part. They will also have interviews with designers, painters, sculptors, etc.

It's fun. Teething issues and tech glitches aside, it's fairly entertaining as background viewing.

I used my Amazon Prime to sub to the channel for free (may only be for 30 days though?) and I'm working from home, listening to Rob say 'super' every third word. I watched one game live yesterday, and watching archive of the second now.
