Lets head back out into the garage for a while and work on my AoP board

So, I have cut the board down using a bread knife and cut my trench in for effect, used the tape and toothpick to add the walls with pva glue. Once it dried off I mixed up some plaster and poured in black poster paint and a cheap ass tub of basil leaves for a subtle texture. Then I spread it over the board as shown, before using some cut up chunks of the foam trimmed off previously and watered the mix a bit more and just stirred the chunks into it so act as chunks of rubble from blasted bastions!

That was pretty much the basis before paint, and that was simple too, a few cheap cans from a hardware store, black, brown, cream, grey

start with black in the cracks and under anything that needs shadow or darkening for effect, then brown to establish the earth colour, a light dusting of cream from different angles to subtly apply a dusty highlight, then grey on the stone rubble and re apply brown and black where you need it.

this process from starting to cut to where we are now took about 2 hours with a few coffees and some music cranked up.














Next I'll do some dry brushing and try using pva to make some areas look muddy and wet, not really sure what else I need to do

Yup, that board is the tits duder! Oddly enough, I like the random bits of wood scattered here and there, very hap hazard and naturally chaotic, which can be hard to pull off.

Love the idea of a trench you can park a tank in! Just watch out for pesky GSC types!

I got some 'backup copies' of models I need for my Legion mainly because I like to cut and change things and while they are still expensive they aren't anywhere near as much if I stuff something up! I scored myself a 3 man Scimitar jetbike squad, Perturabo and 2 Iron Circle, and a squad of Tyrant siege Terminators sans missiles at this point and a Leviathan dreadnought! i've started filing the eagle off the jetbikes as these guys are just turning traitor and beginning to show their allegiance.

once I get some more troops and terminators I'll start painting them up!

Oh man that’s a lot of goodies!

I know! I am actually really excited to finish collecting it so I can start painting them all! I ordered another 10 Siege Tyrant terminators because i'm a bit of a fan of the good old Tactical dreadnought armour!

I'm thinking of having my army led by Erasmus Golg who's a named character that unlocks Termies as troops and I can so see a massed line of iron just hammering the fire into the enemy, which is going to be Imperial Fists since I discovered my best mate had been painting some fists up for fun he's now firmly on the bandwagon :-) they may not all be 30K correct but hey! it's a game so let's have some fun!

Thanks Doc, i've not done any more on it yet as i've been suffering from a severe case of procrastination! it's getting better now though. i've assembled more IW models and done a couple of comissions but nothing too noteworthy, soon i'll be into the board again and the models as they are also a kind of important part of the feature.

Sorry for the hiatus lately on these guys! but I've finally picked up a brush and threw it at them again I finished a Praetor and my Leviathan dreadnought and he's brutal I wanted to add some colour on his fist but didn't want to cover him in blood so I've tried to go for a more dried gore look as if he's been smashing bodies for awhile.

A thought on the yellow knee: should the other one be black? Or yellow? Noticing that his shoulder icons are both yellow. Totally groovy with just one being colored, I like asymmetry, but I was just overthinking the (not-)pattern.

I love him BUT I think his head needs a bit more attention - like an angry OSL glow from within the grate or something?

Why is he on such a tiny base, though? That feels very cramped for such a glorious hunk.

What about a yellow head? Would that look o.k?

Red eyes will get lost in a totally yellow head. Do the scalp yellow and the cheeks black, or all black with a nice yellow stripe down the middle.

I quite like the yellow head idea, but I see where Whaley is coming from.

I love the feel of your worn metal Nerdy. It's one in a million. Gives "feel" as well as "look".

Wow, your work on the armour and weathering is exceptional! As someone who just started with their own IW project (albeit for 40k), may I ask how you painted that?

Did you thin your Sepia, Black and Earthshade washes when applying them? And what Silver did you use for the scratches? And what's your recipe for your Yellows?

More Iron from the forge brothers, i'll start with my honest thoughts that I very nearly hit that wall and lost interest again thereby leaving another army languishing in nothingness. BUT I seem to hopefully have pulled through and am here again to show you progress with a finished Spartan (quite the bitch to assemble thanks FW) and some sweet Scimitar jetbikes which I really like the look of.

I'll be starting to do some more on my Armies on Parade board soon and place what i've painted so far to see how it looks which is a bit exciting!

those toothpick I used for the trench walls were a random bag I got with some free stuff so I'm not a help i'm afraid, although if you need some I might have left overs you can have?

Stunning metals man, such delicious texture all over the place - and that includes the yellows and blacks as well.

I wanted to see how the models are looking on the Armies on Parade board so took them into the shed for a bit of a look , not bad but I need to bulk up some ground to give more level area for the Spartan and a few other bits, should look good once I add details and dry brush. I have a bunch of little sand bags and random stuff to pop on.






I also pretty much finished building Kyr Vhalen as my first Warsmith just waiting on a volkite gun and a little liquid GS.

Really gritty (in a good way) force. Loving those hazard stripes - the ones on the dred look incredible.
