that said our boxes come in packs of 5, and you can deploy squads of 3, so generally if you buy a box of custodes guard GW expects you to make one sheild captain, 1 "banner bearer" and a squad of 3. but yeah more independant characters would be nice so that we can at least buy a single HQ if we need it.

it can be good or bad depending on your individual needs. it's... differant. Truthfully I kinda like it, (I've been advising people to just buy the ETB primaris Marines and then use 3 of the primaris in the box as a starting place for Primaris Leuitenants for that reason) but if you JUST need a HQ, or want a HQ that really stands out and pops.. yeah it could be annoying

Then again you can get for like 15€ more(30 vs 45) 4 more guys. If you are lucky. difference could be even less.

If you don't need the rest you can likely sell them for 20 or so and get HQ cheaper...

ohh agreed. as I said the big thing lost is a unique looking HQ, and honestly, with the mono pose HQs thats less and less an issue. (god I'd kill for something like the old space marine commander box for some more armies)

Regarding his oversized head, has anyone considered the possibility that it's actually a helmet shaped just like his actual head?

Great SoS sculpt but the Custode has some serious Hair-esy going on!

I've asked this before, but who the hell sculpted valerian? And who at gw gave their blessing for this awful sculpt?!

Were they in such a hurry or what? Even if you put a helmet on valerian, his misericordia position is still really off putting, it hangs by his freking knee...

Though regarding the complaints that he is not big enough: I think it just looks like that based on how the picture was taken. If you were to put Valerian and Aleya next to each other, she'd be smaller I think.

DW'll likely get access to Phobos down the road, my money says they'll feature front and center in a PA book that'll likely give them rules for Phobos kill teams.

I am still baffled that someone at GW gave their blessing for this sculpt. I mean the reception for this particular model was overwhelmingly bad, someone at GW had to see that the sculpt was off.

Also I'm still pissed that the designer said he wanted to make Valerian look like he was young and still had to prove himself. I mean did they specifically get someone for the job who had absolutely no idea about the character? Freaking ridiculous if you ask me.

Codex Space Marines released in augest, so that was 3-4 months ago. so no no it hasn't been 7 months. unless you;re refering to the original shadowspear release.

As I said give it some time, we know death watch are getting something for PA. I'd be willing to bet that what death watch will get is a "Umbra Kill team" that is based arouind phobos armor.

Phobos units for death watch have a few design challanges that the other Marine armies don't have.
1: special issue ammo - how does it interact with things like the bolt sniper rifle, the marksman and occultus bolt carbines
2: Kill team squads. - what sets DW apart, other then it's specialist ammo, is DW having kill teams made up of various unit types each giving buffs to the squad etc.

these two things means GW needs to devise some new rules, think about interactions with other ones and do some play testing, big differance from say.. blood angels where you can just drop a squad of eliminators in and it performs more or less the same as it would in any other marine 'dex
