Wishing I was back at the South Atlantic, closer to ice than the sun

Second the lazy gun. A 100% lethal weapon with a sense of humour what more could one ask for?

The gun from eraser? Not a fan, any weapon that can see through anything but a fridge, plus leaving a trail of smoke rings so that evryone can see where you are. Not exactly a snipers friend advertising your position like that.

I don't care what the flag says, I'm SCOTTISH!!!

Beyond that, I dunno. Jaffa staff weapons look cool, but aren't practical. Zats were cool though. Zap once to stun, twice to kill, thrice to disintegrate the corpse.

So glad the retconned away the disintegration thing on Zat guns. Sheesh that was dumb. Even cooler was the fact that they made fun of that on the actual show (in the episode "Wormhole X-treme!").

If we're talking Stargate weapons, Ronan's gun from Atlantis was really cool!

The revelation space series has the damnedest weapon in it, a semi intelligent robotic construct called a "whip hound" that can be used as a melee weapon in various modes or as an autonomous robotic mobile serpentine drone.

Thank ghawd I found an article describing them.

https://revelationspace.fandom.com/wiki/Whiphound#:~:text=Whiphounds%20are%20multi-purpose%20personal,Yellowstone%20and%20the%20Glitter%20Band.

Maybe not an infantry weapon, unless maybe on a "peacekeeping" mission, but damn original, and I'll love it just for being original and sensible, if you have really high tech.

I guess it's more of an insurgency weapon than an infantry weapon, but the Gristle Gun from eXistenZ is pretty awesome. It's a mutant lizard you turn the bones of into a firearm that fires human teeth as projectiles.

Define "infantry". If guns that require power armour to wield count, I always loved the idea of the "Boom Gun" used by the Glitter Boys in the Rifts RPG. It's basically a railshotgun, in that it fires rounds consisting of multiple flechettes moving at super sonic speed. It creates such a blast when fired the suit requires stabilizing thrusters and anchoring spikes that deploy into the ground when the gun is fired to keep it from being knocked down. Thus "Boom Gun".

Usually, I don't play video games at all, but I've been obsessed with Fallout 1 - New Vegas and really like the guns. They are certainly not the most effective or most scifi things out there, but I especially like the M72 Gauss rifle in Fallout II, the MEC Gauss minigun in Tactics, but also the classic Rheinmetall Vindicator minigun.

The best part is in the Savage Worlds adaptation, the long range of a Boom Gun is 1,000 inches on a battlemap. You can call in shots from a player in the house across the street from where you are gaming, over 83 feet away, (so a scale 1 mile).

I have fired my way OUT of a melee scrum by not locking down before firing so I was thrown backwards, while ALSO killing the little guys who were crawling over me, just with the backblast.

That just screams sci-fi awesome gun imagery.

Yes! The episode that may have been the origin of the Terminator series. Great weapon and terrifying story if you think about it.

Never mind the individual guns, fairly sure that power armour counts as an “infantry weapon”!

.I think this weapon is both iconic and an infantry weapon, when used, is non pareil for sheer accuracy and fire discipline, Also, although many don't know this, the sound it makes was created by striking a railway line with a hammer in the actual movie back in the 70s.

Right, extra special 40k shout out to the Necron Gauss Rifle.

Even at its most basic, it’s a horrifying weapon, and uses unfathomable science.

Just look at the 9th Ed cinematic. One blast, and your mates start dissolving, gurgling away their last as their corporeal form discorporates. And it can’t be pleasant to see those same energies wreath a might battle tank, slowly eating away at its structure.

And just because, it’s also got a super handy hacky blade. Presumably for fun.

I was talking about the old Rifts RPG from the 90s, never played Savage Worlds. Sounds awesome. Have to check it out.
