Actually there are few a questions that this page brings up.

Hypothetical situation-You have a Law considered unenforceable because everyone breaks it.
What happens if the government refuses to recognise the will of its people and brands everyone who breaks the law as criminal?
How would such large numbers be viewed?
Would it constitute a threat to national security?
Would this be viewed as a terrorist movement as per the patriot act?
How would we house the increased inmate population?
How would we rectify the drop in available labour force?

Not saying it would happen, just positing the idea.

Its interesting that someone mentioned littering laws as unenforcable but essentially a good idea. Perhaps this is true - it got me thinking about the recent smoking ban. As far as I'm aware these have been fairly well observed, certainly in Glasgow where I live. You could argue its the Brits being compliant/docile as usual, but they have a smoking ban in Paris now too!

As far as trolling etc. goes, I have no axe to grind with anyone on here. I object to being accused of talking rubbish, who wouldn't? But I don't see why my cumbrian friend should apologise for having a different viewpoint.

Are all the threads on here this interesting?! This forum is so much more moderate than the media forums I usually frequent! Very refreshing - keep up the good debate!

No, Charlton Heston stood up for Civil Rights, back in the 60's and did participate in numerous marches with his fellow citizens in support for equal rights. This is not necessarily a 'liberal cause'. Heston is well known for upholding the rights of the individual and this is why he took part I believe.

You know they still do drag hunts instead yes ? Same basic principle just without the kill at the end.

I gather there's quite a few.........."accidental" deaths of foxes when they get caught up in the process, which is technically legal.

With regards to unenforcable laws : no-one here ever lend or borrow a CD/DVD/VIDEO/etc etc ? I don't know anyone who was around in the 80s who didn't have a couple of draws of cassettes all copied quite happily.

Especially those ones that cut off half way through a song on side one and then you have the eternal debate: When I turn the tape over do I just carry on from where it was or start that song from the beginning.


EDIT @ Mr. Verm. I know about his stance with civil rights etc-- which is a liberal cause to me but hey !-- but I was under the impression that he had done the whole journey from left wing to right wing. Like DEnnis Hopper and a few others.

And yes you can take firearms onto Federal/State Parks, linky I remember doing so numerous times throughout my life with family and on backpacking trips.

As far as for bear repellant, it depends on the bear. Mace is usually a gakky and dumb option and will just piss of the animal. For black/brown bears a 44/45 ACP would work nicely in defending yourself if one decided on you for a snack. A shotgun would be more effective for a larger animal. The first step though in keeping clear of wildlife is to be audible (bells on your daypack/pack) and to always look around you when you are hiking, not at the ground of the butt in front of you. Stop and listen as well periodically for animal sounds. Situational Awareness is usually what keeps people alive in the wilderness in conjunction with other skills.

ya know, they keep telling me i need situational awareness here in Iraq...but i have never seen a bear here guess i just dont have enough awareness

on a more serious note...when gun control topics come up, i invariably see people mention gun collectors, and others counterpoint that with something along the lines of "collectors could opt to buy non-firing weapons, especially if all they are doing is collecting them for display purposes"

anyone have an idea as to why anyone would think this?? i mean, if i'm a "gun collector" i personally want to be able to take parts of my collection to the range and pop off some rounds at beer bottles, soda cans or what have you.

Its a state by state thing. In Texas CCW is illegal on school grounds and events (not parking lots unless specifically posted). Having said that, if yiou searched night students at UH you'd probably find one in three with something-its in a bad neighborhood in a big way.

That is because the people who suggest that aren't gun collectors and don't know anything about gun collecting. They're making an argument against private ownership and are viewing the collector argument as an attempt to create a loophole as opposed to what it really is, namely, collectors who are upset that someone is dismissing their hobby as being unnecessary when there exist "non-firing replicas".

allright, if i find one that allows this, and is around my area. i am SO making a chainsword to carry around

concealed carry not close combat. Sorry-no boradswords allowed...

i dont know about Concealed carry laws on school grounds.... would be nice if they let the teachers and professors conceal and carry though.
