I waited for ten years. He probably didn't.

I wanted to start a DE army back in 2005 or 2006, but never did due to economical reasons. I can't say I've been waiting for a new codex, but I've always thought it's been a shame that GW have 'left out' the DE for so long whilst new Space marines, expansions and others whom already had newer codices went first.

Started my DE force when the starter set came with DE and marines... but I found the army so hard to use (20 warriors vs. 10 marines with flamer and missile launcher and a Land speeder with heavy bolter). So I started Craftworlders instead. I picked up DE about 7 years ago and I have never looked back. But every time a new SM codex or expansion is released, without anything being done to DE or Necrons a little bit of me dides...

same sadly, but i have to say i prefer the 3rd ed codex style to the newer 5th ed style which basicly tells you what you can and cannot have on a unit. 3rd ed one you could CHOSE what could be in a unit....

In what ways, guys?

The option to purchase frag grenades for 1 point each, or searchlights?

No I mean I prefer that the point cost is for each model, not that it says '1 sarge and 4 troopers x, additional troopers z each'

And I prefer when it says 'for each y trooper you may purchase this weapon' instead of 'if full, you may instead pick two'

I just like the old school way of calculating on your own instead of having a ready unit to deploy that you can increase and gear up.

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to the new layout. However, as long as it doesn't require me to change the way I field my army too much, I'm good. I still like taking 2 warrior squads w/ 2 DL's each just as fire support. At 100 pts each, Both squads are some of the cheapest armor killing-est squads out there.

The last game I played my opponent kept dropping everything he had on those two squads and nearly forgot about my Raiders. He still pulled off the win, but I think his focus was off at the start.

I think I agree with Riffzor on this one. But correct me if I'm wrong. The current Eldar Codex still goes by the old system, right? Don't have it with me at the moment, but I only think I've seen it in one of the newer SM-codicies

Yes the Eldar's are still 'good'. I don't have the SM ones, the Chaos one is 'good' though, however the IG are like that, and I find that incredibly anoying.

To be fair, Guard have been like that since the 3rd ed Rule book list(10 for x points vs x points per model).

no chaos space marines, deamons, dark angels and orks are all in 5th ed format. ergo why i hate those codexs so much, no options. Unit A can have this if you have X amount of guys, but unit B which is only slightly different from unit A cannot = all 5th ed codexs. another reason i still play 4th.... that and vehicles could actually move and shoot like modern armor can

So christmas is the date, huh? Again,if they erase every DE model from existence and start over,I'll play them for sure. Either that,or I'll use eldar painted darkly to look like DE.

From what we hear, this is exactly what they have done. The whole army is getting a new look, though it will still play to the same effect.

It's still being described as a glass cannon army but it won't be the army we all know. Redone fluff, every model that exists right now will be redone. It's been described as an Alpha Strike army. It's fragile as hell but when it hits it's going to break stuff in a bad way.

Thank you very much! If they really leave most of the old models in production,I'll be disappointed. They've had 10+ years to make better models. Compared to the new blood angels and what-not, I can only assume the best from GW (although I should probably expect less...).

They play okay, thats not really a problem for me. I just hate ugly models (which is why I've never looked twice at beastmen, lol)

Trust the rumor mongers. Not one SINGLE current model will stay in the range. I'd also expect a few new units just to catch them up with the 30+ that exist now for most armies.

I am so glad to see that there is something positive being done with DE. I mentioned to a friend a few days ago that DE seem to be on the way out and got a few words about all the stuff you guys are bringing up here. I have to say I am really looking forward to all of it. Although I am not sure what I am gonna do with all my old DE units!!!

Yea I'm pretty much transforming all 11 raiders into Rampages for Apocalypse when the new models come out. I don't know what I am gonna do with my 4 Ravagers though, well 11 is an odd number and you need two raiders to make one Rampage so I might just disassemble them as well.

Aslong as I don't have to fork out more than £100 on new models for my army I don't mind. Should be well under seeing as no armour should be more than 11 (as is the proper way to play a piraty army tbh)

Looking forward to it coming out a month before my birthday aswell =D

BTW concerning your "they come this year": Did you mean DE or Grey Knights or both?

DE between September and October; though I'm inclined to think September will just be the official announcement. I've heard GK's for January, I've also heard the "other" shiny metal MEQ army for January though I'm inclined to think GK before Necrons.

Who's to say they can't all come out at once? Granted GW doesn't always work that way but I remember WE's got like 90% of their new minis within a few weeks of release.

Well, I like to trust the guys at BoW (Beasts of War). They guessed GK's in August and DE by Christmas-ish I think it was.

GKs in August is what everybody thought a couple weeks ago. The guys at BoW appear to be a little behind on the news.

They get their rumors off web like most other places do.

Majority originate on Warseer. Sometimes Dakka gets them first but that's I think only because RedS8n happens to be on Dakka first that day.

Too many "in the know" saying DE are next. As much as I want to see DE in August I'm inclined to believe September-November. Fantasy in July and a major 2nd wave of models (Daemons) in Augst makes too tight of a schedule, especially for such a huge release.

Now assuming a September announcement I wouldn't be surprised to see leaks starting around July (not official) of either rules, models or both. I'm thinking GW will make an announcement in late August/early September with perhaps certain models available at Gamesday.

I can't say this for certain but it would be a great way to hype up GD and draw people in. Even people with no intention of starting will want to see models and black box codeciies for, what will be, essentially the biggest release in over a decade.

September seems reserved for the 8th edition Fantasy starter box (2 months after new rules).
And it certainly is not the biggest release in over a decade, it is just a release of the magnitude common until 2006. Remember: Eldar got 2/3 of the range new within 2 months. Dark Elves complete overhaul 2001. And most important Wood Elves 2005 with no old miniature left, also within 2 months in a row, as was usual at that time!

Oops. Still haven't bought my gamesday ticket. Too bad I'm out of moneyz. Oh well, I'm sure I can salvage 25 bucks from my family...

Anyway, I'm hoping the raider is more that 5 pieces (essentially,it's only a few pieces). The raider is one of the ugliest tanks GW makes, next to the tau orca [shivers]
