Hmmm...for your Contemptor, maybe stick a forgeworld Khorne Berzerker/terminator head in there, and add the "fins" from the plastic ones to the archway above the head? Also, bladed/clawed hands anda t least ONE big axe/chainaxe is a MUST.

Not a painting update today as I'm out all weekend at a tournament.

Here's a few pictures of the army in action. It was 1500 points my army list I think is a few pages back.

Round one was Dawn of War and I was up against a Deathwing Terminator army. I got totally massacred due to not being able to get past all those Storm Shield saves.

Game two and my forces were up against the ork hordes the mission was the one where you have to use opposite corners, I forget what its called. My Raptor squad led by the Sorcerer did an outstanding job this game taking out two huge units of orks about 15 models each and a unit of 10 gretchin in close combat before being taken out by Thrakka. We managed a draw in this game as we both ran out of troop units to hold objectives.

Game three was up against a mobile Chaos force with Plague Marines and Khorne Berzerkers in the colour of Iron Warriors. I had real problem taking out all the transports letting the berserkers get into close combat taking out most of my force. I had one model left at the end of the game the Necrodefiler, as you may have guessed it was a lose for me.

I'll post some pics of tomorrws games as well

Ok time for some pictures of todays games.

Game 4 vs Ultra Marines

This game started quite bad for me when the Dreadnought deep striked in a drop pod on my opponents firs turn in front of my defiler and took it out with a multi melta (destroyed). Its actually in front of it but we put to the side as it wouldn't balance on the hill. I was lucky my Havoc squad disabled the dreadnought so it wasn't going anywhere.

The land raider was a right pain I didn't have the weaponry to spare to concentrate fire power between it and the other units after the defiler was destroyed. The Raptor squad on the left with the sorcerer managed to flank him and take out his terminator and sternguard squads in close combat.

Here's my pic for the best army award only problem is that I was in the corner facing the wall which according to the regulars is the worst place as no one goes round that side of the table. The best painted army went to the person I played played in game 1 the Deathwing army which was cleverly converted Orks, 2nd place went to the Ultra Marine player I just played.

Game 5 vs Space Marines

Well I did really poorly this game I was up against a bike/speeder army I couldn't get in range on my turn and then in came the bikes and I couldn't stop that much fire power and that was pretty much it. The Raptors/Sorcerer couldn't get into combat as the bikes kept running from them. My dice rolls were terrible this game which didn't help but my army was too slow to make a difference vs the bikes.

Game 6 vs Orks

Well I managed to get to the bottom table in the last round of the event.

It was dawn of war and I was up against the same Ork player I drew with yesterday so I had an advantage as I knew how to fight da boyz.

The game started off like this notice the position of the Raptor/Sorcerer unit on the right flank.

A few turns in and the game looked like this

Spot the Raptor unit with the Sorcerer and yes they killed all of the Ork units including the ones in front of them in this pic. The rest of the army destroyed the tanks and nobz (in the Deathroller) followed by poor old Thrakka standing by his lonesome in this pic. I tabled him and lost three Raptors.

Well I had an excellent weekend and learnt lots of things.

1. My Sorcerer needs to be equipped with Melta Bombs.

2. I need to be able to mobilize my troops faster, thinking Rhinos here.

3. I hate Storm Shields on terminators.

4. Chaos Marines on bikes with Meltaguns and Mark of Nurgle could be very useful.

There were quite a lot of different armys this weekend but I did notice a lack of Necrons, Sisters of Battle and Tau. I don't know what came first but second place went to an Eldar player.

Most valuable unit goes to the Raptors with the Sorcerer for taking out a good few thousand points worth of troops over the weekend.

Yeah the Necrodefiler was a great hit everyone said how nice it was.

The only problem with Chaos Land Raiders is they can only fire one weapon if they move, I'm not sure if they are worth the points. Armour value 14 is nice though.

Thanks Gits, it appears I need to work harder though for best painted army next time with the Khorne marines. I need to find a partner to team up with though to be able to play in the November event.

I wasn't worried about winning any games this time round it was more a watch and learn session. I just plan on going to have fun and to keep trying for the best painted army trophy, one day it shall be mine

Don't feel bad about not being best painted. My Mantis Warriors have been in 4 local tournaments (at least) and have never won best painted. Now, I take nothing away from the armies that won... as a matter of fact I voted for each of the winning armies myself... but armies that look great in close-up on the web don't always translate into mass-appeal on the table.

I've done some more work on the Contemptor Dreadnought tonight, but then again I haven't shown you any WIP shot yet have I.

As its chaos I'm not going for a clean look more of a well I'll let you decide what kind of look it is. This picture was taken at night with a spot lamp about an inch away from it, that's how I'm going to spend the rest of the year painting in the evenings. Keeps me warm though. Because of the closeness of the lamp the colours are quite a bit brighter than they look in day light.

Enough of my ramblings here you go World Eaters Contemptor Dreadnought WIP shot.

Did you make out the Khorne symbol?

I stand corrected. That pose is lookin' very menacing from the front! I think the color really brought it together, and I like 1) the color of the limbs not being the same as the chest, and 2) said-chest looking very battle-worn.

And the symbol is also lookin' sweet.

Just a tip, IMO, use the thousand sons as normal marines, paint them like that but this is why: http://www.miniwargaming.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=61125

Lots of comments to reply to today

tipios wrote:I look forward to seeing some CSM bikes from you

I had an idea to mount these guys on beasts of nurgle for The Reborn marines I have planned, not sure though as they are not the fastest of creatures. If I did Thousand Sons ones I know a guy who does some very nice Kiwis that are the perfect size for marines.

I don't think they are as bad as that site makes out. Having just played with them they are quite good, they are a very strategic unit.

I will get a LR not sure for what army though, your idea with the daemon weapon should look good Miss Dee.

Well I'm happy to say I finished the Contemptor Dreadnought today. It was really fun to paint and I'm hoping you will think its up to the same level as the Necrodefler.

Words don't really mean much so here we go lots of pics, these can all be voted on as well

If I can pull off the same level of paint job on the rest of the World Eater force I will be well happy.

The glow was all done by drybrushing starting from the darkest colour, and then building up to a lighter colour when you get closer to the light source

Yeah it was once you start there's no going back, its not something I could just paint over and try again.
