Jake, congrats on your new family addition! Also, WELL DONE, on the patent leather boot! Convincing! Much better than had you gone the gloss coat route. Everything is shaping up nicely, however, for c and c sake, i dont love the hair. The color seems kinda, raver, cosplay color...which if you were going for that, then awesome! I assumed red, as in, ginger...but i dont have a better ssuggestion so ignore my comments really. Cant wait to see more of this epic mini come to life!

Thank you and thank you! I have never painted red hair. I'm not a huge fan of this color, but I don't know how to make it look better.

I'm happy with the leather, I just don't know if it's too busy or not.

Thanks again. Looks like I have a few hours to kill until I have to be back at the hospital, I'm gonna take a nap here soon. Hmmmm, or maybe I can get a bit of painting in? We'll see if I can stay awa-*zzzzzz*

Congrats on the mini doppelganger!

I was in NY, so I didn't get a chance to check out dakka for a while. You made excellent progress so far. I really like the leather on the coat. The hat brim looks real nice. The skin tone looks a bit green to me - though maybe that's just the pictures. I also am not a huge fan of the hair. I think white hair would look a lot sharper, and make her stand out very nicely - both on the tabletop and as a stand alone model. I'm glad you decided on having the lining on the inside of the coat another color. I always like coats and capes like that better. I think the gloves should also match the boots. That or they should match the hat. What color are you thinking for the shoulder ornaments?

Great job so far! Don't push yourself too much. Get some sleep!

Check out my Project (B)log! I would love any suggestion or comments you may have.

Congratulations with this nice new... miniature

RSJake wrote:I had to look it up, but I thought "plasticine" was C-4 explosive! I'm pretty sure I've heard someone call C-4 that though...

I guess a C4 can be used for sculpting aswell... in some odd way

RSJake wrote:Yes, your wench's makeup did turn out quite well, but your painting skill also puts mine to shame...just out of curiosity, how did you do the makeup? just in case I want to try it, and haven't pulled any hair out for an hour or two.

I'd say, It's not a painting skill, but stubbornness
As for the makeup... I have a little idea how to explain it properly, but I'll try to:
First, I've painted her eyelids and area under the eyebrows with a slightly diluted Scorpion Green. I used to take a very small drop of color on the tip of my brush and had to paint a few layers. Afterwards, I've drawn a tiny white lines for her eyeballs and washed it with Badab Black, aswell as a deeper areas of eye-sockets to darken the eyeshadow. A 005 Pigma Micron was used to imitate the eyeliner - just a simple thin black line on the eyebrows. Same marker I used to place iris and the pupil as one dot. Carefully with this marker though, it's an ink-based and can be easily smeared until it's dry and covered with varnish. To simulate a Lipstick effect I simply painted a center area of her lips with with a Blood Red. If you will cover the whole lips with red it will looks like way too whorish
I'm kinda a beginner in all this so I suggest to google for more professional articles on this subject.
In any case, i hope it was helpful.

RSJake wrote:Thank you and thank you! I have never painted red hair. I'm not a huge fan of this color, but I don't know how to make it look better.

You can paint her hairs with the Blood Red, then wash with Ogryn Flesh and highlight with a 50/50 mix of Blood Red and some bright yellow color. Well, at least that's what I will do to get a red hairs.

Anyway, keep it up!

@monkeyh - Thanks! I should get some time here and there. I forgot how much the wee little ones sleep! And when she sleeps, Momma sleeps, and when momma sleeps, I can get some painting done!

@Wehrkind - Thanks! Was going to post some WIP shots, but I guess that wouldn't be approprate!

@NakedBatBoy - Thanks! I think I'm liking the hair better, maybe because I just don't want to change it. I might add some yellow highlights and see if I can make it look more natural. For the should pauldrons (?) I'm just painting them bronze. Oh, and slepp is for pansies! Hur!

@ishkatar - Thanks! C-4 sculptures would be a blast! Hahahaha! Hmmmm, I had been thinking of getting a Micron pen, I keep forgetting to though. I'll look into that! And yeah, doing the lips is going to get interesting! As for the hair, see above, and yeah, I should give it a wash, and see if that helps too.

@Brother-Captain Scotti - Thanks and Thanks!

@dsteingass - Girlchild, but she will be a geek, I'm sure.

@Vik - Thank you very much!

@dsteingass - Almost there!

@M0rdain - I can't leave stuff on the floor anyway, the cat will attack it I'll never see it again! Hahaha!

OK, So, first thing's first. The stuff I got in the mail!
When I got this stuff from Hasslefree Minis, I was happy!

They will be the heads of some female IG troops, and 2 of them will be used in a special project that will start once I get my Commissar painted.

And then when I got this stuff I was even happier!

One of the plasma pistols to be used in the project mentioned above, and the grot is to be used in the production of a cyber grot for Waaagh Dakka!

And this morning I was coming back from the store and saw a yard sale, and got this!

A desk to make into a work station! Oh Joy! I'm so happy! No more cleaning off the table every night, just flip up the front and it's hidden away!

So, now that the small stuff is out of the way, I'll show you where the Commissar is now, I used a light box I made today from the stuff I was getting at the store this morning!

Still a ways to go, but I can the light at the end of the tunnel!

Thanks again all. Until next time!

Well, you can leave her without any makeup at all and throw a few scars on the cheek for a more brutal appearance.

Indeed. Her hairs looks very good as it is anyway.

Yea you gotta be careful there, those secretaries can only handle so much before they snap...

Great work on the commissar man! Really looking forward to seeing that finished up.

Also, loving the "Anglo Bubbly". Sounds like a derogatory French term for British sparkling wine. Or bubble bath for white folks
