Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Not to derail, but the "think of how much damage consoles do with the second-hand market!" argument is effectively dead.
Most every game now with a MP component(and many without!) include a one-time use "code" within the first-hand copies of a game. You can buy it new, get the code and play. The code is associated with your account from then on--usually entitling you to some kind of free download...
Or you can buy a copy, pre-owned, and have to pay anywhere from $5-$10 to buy a new code. Most people won't justify that much for a code which "completes" their game in some form or another.
I will also add that if console hardware is "constraining graphical development", you should look back at PC games. Most "graphical development" was never that monumental. The jump we saw from the PS2/Xbox graphics to the PS3/360 graphics was actually pretty big.
Well I knew nothing about these codes since my only console (360) decided to red ring of death on me a few years back. Microsoft didn't take responsibility for the error code I was getting.
But with regards to 'graphical leaps':
I'll just wheel out Crysis 1 (PC Exclusive? Woop.)...
Oh and with that, Skyrim and its abysmal close-up textures and view distance... I had Oblivion modded with Qarl's TP and visibility mods 'n' all sorts and my machine isn't exactly godlike; and there I was pushing ahead of the consoles. So yeah, I feel that if Bethesda thought Oblivion (and Skyrim) are pushing the graphics as far as they'll go, clearly the PC format must have superior capabilities?

Which is now available on the 360, directly from the Marketplace as a download.
I'd also point out that Crysis was practically unplayable by most systems of the day.
Oh and with that, Skyrim and its abysmal close-up textures and view distance... But that's not the "actual game". That's modding. Oblivion/Fallout 3 were developed for consoles and PCs simultaneously. The fact that "TP and visibility mods 'n' all sorts" push you ahead of consoles does not inherently mean that you're "pushing ahead of the consoles". It means that someone modded the game to push ahead of the consoles.
So, I started using the AN-94...I have to say, once you get used to the goofy recoil, it's a pretty good gun. It has been nerfed since BF:BC2, but still a damned fine gun.

Crysis was a benchmark for measuring your e-peen. It was the elitist's way of saying 'my PC raeps.'
Is this marketplace download comparable?
Modded or not, the fact that the PCs are running the games 'better', with improved textures and the like, suggests that the consoles are behind. I don't think Bethesda was lazy with the textures 'n' draw distance, they simply knew the limits of the consoles they were dealing with. It wasn't a pc-led development. I'm sure that even console gamers must be aware of the perpetual misery for the PC gamer that is the 'console port'.

Anyone find it wierd in SP that your character is the most badass close combat monster in quick time events, but when you try to knife anyone you get owned?

It took a while to rid myself of that 'knifing instinct' that CoD so utterly breeds into you... you can't knife in one hit from the front and it's just better to shoot.
Ofc, a prone enemy with his back to you? You own his arse with a finisher

I've almost broken "knifing reflex", but I still catch myself doing it haha
Lol I think it was worse for me on CoD itself... there are so many moments I can think of where I broke into a sprint to go for a knife kill and got shot from somewhere; you always catch yourself thinking 'darn, I could've easily just shot him.'
Gah, I miss CoD... A shame that I refused to buy MW3. I wonder if people still play MW2; I mean, it's the same game.
Henners91 wrote:Gah, I miss CoD... A shame that I refused to buy MW3. I wonder if people still play MW2; I mean, it's the same game.
I'm almost positive people still play MW2. And you know, I borrowed MW3 from my brother for a couple weeks, just to see how it was...and they made the game worse. My biggest beef was that the maps were all terribly small and poorly designed.
Well it might be OT, but I am not buying a game that I would rate as a mere expansion pack.
It's still based on an engine that dates back to Quake III Arena and has remained unaltered throughout all the Infinity Ward incarnations.
It's graphically the same as MW2, uses the same sounds and, I'd wager (I've not played it) plays exactly the same. There's nothing radical there and it feels like a £50 price tag for a 6 hour campaign that never particularly gripped me in the first place.
I think Treyarch are the better developer nowadays; I liked WaW just fine, the splayer perhaps more than the mplayer (the latter felt a bit 'safe' in its adherence to CoD4's style of play) but at least they push the engine... both WaW and Black Ops are much prettier than IW's efforts, IW just seem lazy... though perhaps they couldn't avoid it with MW3 since, nowadays, they're a corpse diced up by Activision. Black Ops also had a rather good storyline and a helluva lot more new content for the multiplayer, though I didn't approve of the purchasing system for unlocks (made it all too easy to get my ideal setup, imho).
I'd level your criticism at Black Ops as well though, much too small... CoD 4 definitely had the best maps but I ultimately prefered MW2, despite the abundance of cheesy setups. It seems like a chore to snipe in the recent CoDs (where on Earth is my Wasteland, Black Ops?!)
Automatically Appended Next Post: Perhaps it's just the inevitable result of having a game scheduled to re-release every November: it's not a work of art, just a production line.
But again, respect to Treyarch for trying to rock the boat with their efforts. I will buy the next Treyarch game. I'm not touching IW again unless they go into a 'future warfare' setting, but I am hoping that DICE will beat them to the punch with a BF2143 (2142 being the best of the BFs. Period.)

Ah, I gotcha. I have several friends like that....I'm sorry, but it's a game lol it's supposed to be played for fun. Plus, I find that if I worry about winning, I actually do worse.
I always find that in battlfield i fight harder as my teams M-coms or tickets deplete, that and i just find it awesome to sit and cut people apart with an MG
Give me my PKP and I'm happy. I really don't know what they were thinking when they set up the support tree. They give you the best gun in the tree right off the bat. What's the point of the M240B and the M60 after you've got the PKP? Higher damage, longer range, and just as controllable and you get it well before the other two. I'm used to the idea of weapons getting better as you rank up.
I played a good bit of COD:BO and the one thing I wish they'd bring over is visual weapons customization. No change to the weapon, just the ability to maybe tweak the look of them a bit. For instance adding customized logos, maybe small things like slings, tape on the stocks, magazines taped together or the like. Little things to personalize them a bit because while you can change camo it's hard to impossible to tell one assault from another, same for any class.

Does anyone else feel like the combined use of SOFLAM and javelins is a little overpowered? I honestly don't know what to stop it when I'm in a chopper, I always get shot down pretty quick when a good team is using both of those.

Maybe I'm just not skilled enough with the attack helicopters, but they always lock on and take me down before I can fire an accurate volley of rockets at them.

They send out a very obvious laser beam which can be destroyed easily ie with mav (as it lock on to them) pre flight.
Or don't fly.

I think the SOFLAM is a touch annoying...
Set one up facing an aircraft carrier or enemy airfield and any anti-air chaps have an instant lock on...
Can be abused methinks...
