I don't know, I can see where rockets seem a liittle bit underpowered than you would expect, but as far as balancing goes I think they are perfect. I just would naturally expect them to have more splash damage, but if they did, then they would be overly powerful and make the game unbalanced.

Simple tip, don't play TDM, everyone just camps as recon.

So I'm thinking of buying BF3 on PS3, and I've read a lot of negative review about the multiplayer on PS3, and alot of positive reviews. I'm thinking of buying mostly for multiplayer, though a good campaign is nice too. What does Dakka think I should do?
note: I don't have a good gaming PC or an Xbox, its PS3 or nothing, unless you count Wii.

If it weren't for the fact that development for this title was PC-led, I'd have to fall back to the standard 'Consoles, holding back game development by a decade since 2001...

Not to derail, but the "think of how much damage consoles do with the second-hand market!" argument is effectively dead.
Most every game now with a MP component(and many without!) include a one-time use "code" within the first-hand copies of a game. You can buy it new, get the code and play. The code is associated with your account from then on--usually entitling you to some kind of free download...
Or you can buy a copy, pre-owned, and have to pay anywhere from $5-$10 to buy a new code. Most people won't justify that much for a code which "completes" their game in some form or another.
I will also add that if console hardware is "constraining graphical development", you should look back at PC games. Most "graphical development" was never that monumental. The jump we saw from the PS2/Xbox graphics to the PS3/360 graphics was actually pretty big.

I'm just wondering how long that "pay only 10$ extra to play the full game" going to last. It won't take long before you need to start typing key codes with on screen keyboard.
And "constraining graphical development" isn't the whole story. With better tech you get better performance (bf3 has one of the best crossfire/sli scaling) and better performace is everything. Ever wondered why consoles developers always whine about that darn memory budget? Because it's one big ass limitation in making games. Msoft and Sony were so smart when desided to be cheap in the cheapest part in a computer. There are cellphones that kick the gak out of current gen consoles.
But bf3 isn't a great example of pc's capabilities. I find it rather sad as dice tried to please gods and peasants while fighting an ork horde and they failed in all three. PC has great performance but suffers from ridiculous bugs, consoles have less bugs but suffer from ridiculous performance and finally most features/balancing (no voip, most vanilla maps suck ballz) is lacking because EA pushed too early release.
EDIT: beta's long neck monster was funny, I miss him

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

We do that already. No-one honestly gives a gak.

Cool. You do know that most people would play a game with crap graphics if it was flipping amazing, right? Like, oh! Hold on! MINECRAFT.
If you play games because they look cool, rethink gaming.

Oh noez! No VOIP? It's not like you can just type into a damned chat bar or anything...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and illuknisaa, stop trolling the Console Gamers. Honestly, even the PC gamers are getting tired of you doing it.

So you just walk into gamestop buy a game and then resell it? without even playing it? Because you know when you use that code (that unlocks the entire game) you can't use it another account.

Oh so you think performance only grants better graphics? Graphics is a choice of artistic style not some gimmicky trick.

I use Ventrilo for BF3, much better VOIP than most game-provided VOIPs.
Performance helps graphics and the better a console or computer is at handling different processes at the same time then it can allow graphics to be a bit better. If they have to sacrifice processing power to get the game to look awesome then you start cutting into gameplay and features.
If you buy a used game then tough gak. You don't pay the company that keeps the servers up. Its like playing a F2P game and then complaining about how the people who actually pay for items are better.
PC was not always the lead console...and BF3 on xbox far outsold BF3 on PC, so I can see why they did.
I'm not saying that console is better than PC, but I can understand why they switched, I think they began to realize that consoles would have a larger player community.
