Won't be surprised if a lot of goblin armies are considering a switch right now to the Pathfinder goblins... I always found the GW ones to be a bit...bleh. These, while not my cup of tea - are a bit less schtick and look like something you might be worried about. 9 for $9 as add on options if you want a bunch of them.

The dragon, well - there is really only one or two Reaper dragons which I am not a big fan of. So far we have 4 giants, an ettin, a gnoll, a big ogre, two demons, a giant skeleton and a trio of elder gods. That is 13 miniatures which are not dragons. On the dragon column, we have 4 which have been reached and 2 in the shoot which should be out. That is two to one not dragon to dragon. The way they break it down - yes, you do seem to be getting a dragon every time you turn around...but perception is a bugger (11 options - 5 of which were dragons).

Should be plenty of stuff for everyone, including a lot of not-dragons. Now, if you don't mind a little picture spam (because lets be honest...the pictures make this whole thing even more impressive) - this is what $100 will get you:

And once you get those - you can choose to add-on any of these:

And if you want more - well, here you go:

Of course, if you think Bones stink to high heaven, at lest consider these:

A $1 pledge will get your foot in the door and you can pick up some inexpensive paints or figure cases. No reason to miss out on the fun just because you don't need the miniatures (and there is another Paint sarcophagus lid coming up next on the map).

So far, it's still cheaper for me to just wait and buy the ones I want. If I knew someone in SoCal going for vampire, I would throw in a lot on the options (even with a service charge), but since those options are not available without wasting $100 as a pledge, Reaper can do without my money.

I'm kinda in the same spot. I'd love to get the ice giant queen (which, for some reason, is called the frost giant princess on their store) and a few of the better sculpted hero models, but I have no use for most of that stuff.

Bob,
That's a fair enough assessment, especially if there aren't that many figs you really want. The kickstarter isn't for everyone, but consider also that at Vampire level you're getting the figs for less than half of retail.

That might make it worthwhile to buy the Vampire level, even if only to trade or sell off the extras.

I'm from the future. The future of space

I want everything and I still am not pledging beyond a little bit.

The reason is that my local store stocks Reaper and I like going there when the new releases for the month arrive and I get the miniatures I want, with ample time to paint them before the next once I want arrive.

I already have 300+ unpainted miniatures that I'm slowly working through and I just don't need another dump of 100+ onto that pile.

There would be no point to the kickstarter if there weren't people buying them as a product after they are released.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

That's not true. Reaper is making a huge stack of money out of the deal.

That trade and sell of extras is a big point to doing this! I think of it as an investment. I have great models bought at about half retail price. I can trade/sell what I don't want.

Plus if I need money, I could sell them all and have money again.

I'm sure they won't lose money on it, but Reaper has always been about working well with local retailers and getting their products on the shelves of retailers. They may bring in a one time lump sum for the kickstarter, but the kickstarter is happening to develop products for future sales, not just the one time sale to KS backers.

Bones sales making up a third of their miniatures sold with the release of the first 12 skus is what caused the kickstarter. And that happened through regular sales channels. The Kickstarter is being done to develop the line for ongoing business.

Kickstarter backers are getting a great deal and getting a huge amount of miniatures for their pledge. I think the post Kickstarter sales when they actually are available to retailers will be where this really makes money for Reaper though.

I think Reaper is really thinking about the future with the development of this line. Not just a one time splash sale through Kickstarter.

Either way you spend, it's good for reaper. However plugging into the kickstarter means two additional things;
1) That more bones will get made right away rather than the slower standard release schedule.
2)You help your fellow pledgers get more free stuff!

Still, the kickstarter is not for everyone and I have massive respect for those who regularly from their FLGS.

As far as where the money goes and why you have to look at it in business terms.
Kickstarter is about Reaper raising capital for a new line. FLGS and online sales are about making profit from that investment. They are both equally important to business, but you can't have the profit without the investment....

How were they marking this stuff for customs again? The highest individual pledge item? Or was that someone else?

This is going to cost me a ton.

It's in the faq on the kickstarter, should be highest individual pledge level.

Someone has put together a pic of all the paint sets, 72 dollars for 48 paints. +1 dollar for the minimum pledge. It's a steal of a deal.

I have truly been on the fence about getting these. I have no need for most of the figs, but I really REALLY like that Clockwork Dragon, and the inexpensive mini case. Now I did also just get an airbrush, so I am thinking maybe I should buy these as training figs, and then sell them on ebay as painted sets.

Very stoked to see these guys in the mix.

Even moreso since if the same pattern continues, they will be availalble as a 5 dollar upgrade when their goal level is reached. I'm thinking very strongly about getting them rather than the IMEF troopers. There are many more nova poses in basic trooper type positions and they would look good better in multiple in a unit than the more unique sculpts of the IMEF troops.

Or maybe I'll just get both!

Also, including the sergeant in the first Chronoscope upgrade, there would be 6 NOVA troopers in the Bones line.

Okay, this is officially starting to "go nuts".

GenCon effect is in full swing already, with about $80k pledged in just one half of today. I think we're about to start seeing $150k+ per day coming in from this point onwards.

We'll definitely be looking at an open $1m treasure chest by the end of this weekend.

I wonder if GenCon is really affecting the kickstarter as Reaper isn't attending GenCon this year.

Maybe we'll see even more interest in the kickstarter when they GenCon'ers get back home and check their inboxes!

My theory about the recent raise in pledges is the "Chronoscope" effect. Check out the graph here:
http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/1513061270/reaper-miniatures-bones-an-evolution-of-gaming-min/#chart-daily
The day Chronoscope figs were revealed, the pledged amount jumped from $21k to $51k per day and every day since has been higher than any day pre-chronoscope-reveal.

The first kick is Chronoscope. The second kick is Pathfinder (they even blogged about it). The third kick will be...

Seriously though, early next week is when the GenCon bump should happen. At this point though, I don't know whether it will be significantly measurable. However, for most of the con activity - people are doing stuff that is in front of them. There are different people at GenCon who are supporting the Reaper Kickstarter (both civilians and vendors like Paizo and Outrider Hobbies). When people go home and talk to friends and fellow gamers about it - there should be another 50 or so miniatures in the stack and still 5 or 6 days left to go. That will help things out more as well.

Then of course you have the fence sitters. If you read through the various postings regarding this, about every 10th comment is someone saying - meh, it is good...but I think I'll wait till the last day. WTF - how much stuff do you really need before you get in on it? So far, the people who have been working it have helped to bring in almost 4,000 backers and over $700,000 in pledges. Almost twice as much money and fast approaching 3 times as many backers as Mantic had when it finished. It is twice the size of Sedition Wars and 3 times the size of Zombicide when they both had the same number of days left.

Seriously, if you are planning on joining up - go all in, and do it now. Watch the stretch goals fall like dominoes and think about the goodies you will be getting in March. Unlike a lot of campaigns, you don't have to worry about Reaper not having something to come next. As great as this has been so far - it has only really scratched the surface of what they have to off. After that - get into the comments or their forums and tell em what you think. They listen, and will do what they can to make things happen.

BTW czakk - those troopers look good painted up like that.

Good Point! I'm not into RPG's and hadn't even thought about Pathfinder, but I recall they have quite a presence at my FLGS. They may be as-or-more responsible for the jump than Chronoscope.

Either way, it's going to be an exciting week!

I hate posts like this. As I keep saying, when you pay for other people's stuff you can berate them for not going "all in" when it suits you.
