Thanks for all the positive replies and if i can inspire some of you with my work i must have done something right.
And here is at least a small update. And just for your interest, i have created a seperate post for my possessed terminators for collecting ideas for weapon loadouts for them here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/534015.page#5747735
My little side project looks like that now. I think i'm on the right way to create a female power armor that looks female and jet armored enough, especially if i finish her feets and shoulder area. Bot i'm not too sure what to put in her other hand.
Here is Ahriman. With that he is finished now with the exception of his backpack. But that might be a tricky one. Or i could use an old metal sorcerer backpack.
Also i'm thinking about a kitbashing project. Bulked and armored up sentinel legs on a chaosed talos pain engine body and maybe using the leftover bitz from my forgefiend as melee weapons. What do you guys think of that?

I have a small question on how to base my terminator. As he is supposed to grab his fallen foe it is quite tricky to setup the base properly. I have made this basic layout for testing how to add everything to the base. But i can't think of a theme to go for. I need to set it up so that the foe at least partially sits on something or it wouldn't look realistic.
Also i don't know how i feel about adding a sister like that. I don't want to create a scene that suggests rape. It should be "just" a chaos terminator that finishs of a defeated foe but first wants to look the victim onto the eyes, amused about their weakness.
But on the other hand i will have a hard time putting a more armored model there as the space is rather limited. What would you do?

From behind its definitely a rape scene!! I joke but he definitely looks like hes "going down"
Perhaps a ruins scene? like the corner piece of a building. OR lying against another corpse. as the termie chews his way threw the squad? a small piece of tank debris?
And the female in power armour is looking good. I assume your going for a more realistic look than anything typically "female modelled" IE skimpy. A short sword in her other hand? or a curvatious dagger? The first thought I had was of the weapons used my the females in mortal kombat. Perhaps a whip? Or small crudel(spelling?)?
For your sentitaloforgefiend! I say bluetack it and let us see! I know only the body and legs from memory. Also, your work is very inspiring I check your stuff daily just to see how they are coming. (plus im secretly stealing your skills and soul through the interweb).

I think if he's possibly holding her in a less aggressive way, maybe cradling her, it'd remove imagery of rape, as he'd be showing compassion; but at the same time, you'd not be able to ignore the fact he killed her himself, so it has this nice kind of clashing motifs.
Like, he could be cradling her with one powerfist arm, but with his other hand he could have just stabbed her with a knife?
If you want someone to look like they're staring into the eyes of their opponent as they die, I always thought lifting someone into the air and choking the life out of them would look pretty cool. I know they made a chaos Champion in this stance way back when; it looked absolutely fantastic!

If you scroll down the page a bit, Guita put the hellbrute onto sentinel legs with some extra armour plates. Might give you an idea of how sentinel legs look on a bulkier body
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/1350/395043.page
Maybe for the power armored female give her a marine helmet in her other hand? Maybe give her a power fist holding the marine helmet with a bit of spine sticking out to show the head is still inside.
I don't know how much you can change the termis pose but if you could, perhaps have it looking down with disdain at the victim and pointing a combibolter at them? Without changing the pose, maybe give the termi a lightning claw that's enveloping the face, one eye showing through in terror?

The helbrute with sentinel legs was actually my inspiration for a conversion like that. And as i always thought that a pain engine would work good as a more slaanesh demon engine i got this idea. But i'm kinda torn as i think the pain engine has a larger body than a breadnought. And i wanted to be sure before i bought the kits. But i think i'll risk it. If the talos is to bigf i still have a helbrute lying around that i could use to recreate Guita's model.
And my idea for the termi was a combination of the things you said. One power fist holding the victim around the neck/head and the other pointing a gun at the head. Well i think i'll just try it out. If i doesn't work i have to repurpose the pieces. I can't really change the pose of the termie without resculpting much of the legs.
A powerfist is an interesting idea for my female power armor and with a helmet in this hand the fingers would be easier to create. i'll probably do something like that.
And she has a head now. I wanted to go with an aegyptian /tzeentch theme here so i tried to create a matching head and hair.
I also added a few details to my underslung weapons. The plasma one is still to small but i like the handle on the laser one. With that normal bolter arms will be able to hold it. I plan on adding a few attachment points where i can add cables running to the backpack and then it is finished.
And i also restarted another older project, my possessed spider legged rhinos. Not much has changed but at least i started to work on it.

It's kinda strange. For each project i have finished i started 3 long-running new ones ... I have so many unfinsihed stuff that it isn't funny anymore. So i've tried to reduce the projects i'm currently working on.
1) My possessed terminators who currently reside in this topic: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/534015.page
2) building bases for all my older unbased models so that i can actually make a group shot without the use of ton of blue tac.
3) My spider rhino pair. But this is the project with the least priority of those three.
And all my other stuff will be worked on after i finish those. This includes:
- scratchbuild Baneblade
- Defiler
- Counts as Nurgle marines
- my second demon princess
- the eternal siren
- missle havoks
- cultists
- defiling the rest of my loyalists(although i don't konw if i will actually do this)
- mutated counts as vindicator
- a bunch of random missing chaos marines
- a random chaos demon engine (just an idea of mine)
- slaanesh subjugator titan (just an idea of mine)
- ...
- painting
And to not leave you pictureless here are the bases i'm currently working on:
I also searched for a resin casting starter set that i'm planing on buying in a few weeks or so once i have enough stuff that can be cast build and ready.
And what do you want me to work on? Then i can try to plan the next stuff with what you want to see.

I've found a reliatively cheap starter set with Smooth-Cast resin and Oommoo mould silicon. I've heard those products used in some different casting tutorials so i think it is a good start.

Well my current favorite projects are both spider rhino and termies. I have planed to work on both but with a stronger focus on the termies.
This is where my spider rhino stands:
My goal is to build two of them. This one will have a more bio-organic look. As i'm plaing on magnetizing them i have to plan them out. I'm thinking of turning the red thing in front in a predator turret mounted with noise marine style predator weapons and sponsons to match. I don't know what i will do at his back but the front will be some sort of mawlike opening where i can magentize either a techno-organic demon head with mounted combi bolter or a massive cannon so that i can use him as vindicator too.
But despite the missing idea for the back i need to think of a way to attach a turret to him without getting into problems with the exposed spine. So i have to design some sort of sponson that can serve as additional details if the turret isn't used. I have the advantage that i need to design both turret and sponson so i can get creatice there.
But maybe you have ideas for my problems (sponson and backside)?
The other one will be more on the insectoid side. Add a spiderlike head and some form of abdomen partly fused with the rhino armor. On top of the abdomen i'll build another sponson where i can mount it's turret. But i'll start building the other one first.
What do you think of my ideas? And should i bulk the legs out some more or are they large enough?
And what do you think of the turret i want to used? I will widen it somewhat but other than that i'll probably leave it mostly unchanged.

I think the legs could be bulked out a bit but not much. Just from what it looks like now, maybe consider having a tail come out the back and curve over the top, with the spine reappearing on the tail and mount weapons to the end. It would give it a bit of a scorpion feel but that might help with the sponson weapons, maybe claw like protrusions towards the front. Or for the sponson organic arches out the side, like ribs but with a bit of muscle and have the weapons sort of hanging underneath. It's a very mutated and organic construction so maybe simplify the back, jut a big bulbous piece of carapace armour? The turret looks a bit like a head, maybe use it in the front as the too of a skull and have the vindi cannon between the upper and lower jaws? It looks like it would be a bit awkward to fit the turret over the spine as is right now.
I haven't used oommoo before but I have used the resin. It's very simple to use and the final product is very easy to work with. It may just be the mould material I use but I haven't had the resin stick to the would yet. However do make sure you get the ratio right of the resin won't harden and will destroy the mould. I mismixed a batch and lost three test mould because the non cured material just doesn't come off without trashing the mould itself. However it does take extremely fine detail very well. Are you planning on casting any models or just bases?

I thought on maybe adding some hydraulics to the side and one armor panel over it.
Just from what it looks like now, maybe consider having a tail come out the back and curve over the top, with the spine reappearing on the tail and mount weapons to the end. Normally i'm not the biggest fan on the scorpion look. But it would probably work quite well with the slightly forward lean the model has. Than i could mount the main gun on the tail and maybe magnetize the claws and mount the sponsons there.
And while the turret think has some large area that would work great as insectlike eyes i think it is too large for an head, especially if i have to add a lower jaw on it. But for my other spider inspired one it is a possible option as i probably won't use a jawlike approach there. Holding it onto the model it looks best mounted lower close to the ground and i wouldn't be able to add a vindicator gun like that.
I haven't used oommoo before but I have used the resin. It's very simple to use and the final product is very easy to work with. The starter set i will probably buy comes with a release agent so i'm on the safe side there. What i'm a little unsure is the demould time on the resin. They state it with 3-5 minutes which would give my very little work time. As you used the same resin what is your experience with that?
Well i will try to both cast bases and models/bitz. The reason why i'm sculpting my possessed terminator more modular is that i plan on cast them - or at least most of the pieces.
Falhurk wrote:I just wanted to say this is by far one of the most interesting blogs to follow. What kind of tools do you use to sculpt?
Thanks.
I use a standard Metal tool from the Army painter tool set. (Although it broke recently and i still need a replacement ) This is my most used tool. I use it to move the putty around and create the basic shape and small details with it. I also have a collection of extra firm Clay Shapers that i use for more organic looking stuff and to smooth surfaces. I also have random collection of stuff for special ocasions like a needle for small holes, different sized cable end sleeves to press small rivets in and so on.

I'd be tempted to greenstuff and remodel the sides of the Rhino to make it more prevalent that the legs are emerging from the wheel wells. Perhaps add bent metal, mutated fleshy fronds, etc...

I'll add something the the sides to get a better transition between the legs and sides. Maybe some split and bent armor like you already mentioned and/or some form of exposed muscles.
The sides aren't glued on yet as i still need some access to the joints to strengthen them further. Also i can add additional details on the sides better(like the side sponsons, if i add any) with them off.

I usually give it about 10 minutes or a bit over. Generally because of the way I cast the moulds, I have a layer on top so I just check after 10 minutes and see if its hard. If its not I give it some more time. Best way I think is to do a few test moulds and see what happens with the resin

Not much has happened here in the form of picture updates. And i still have nothing to show you that is worth showing.
I just want to say that i'm not dead (or something) and am continue working. But i'm getting more stressed out with my student assistent work that'll lead to my computer sience master thesis. As a result i have less time for sculpting (or are too tired to do precise work).
I still hope that my resin order will get to me tomorrow so that i can make my first tries over the weekend.
And i'm also waiting for replacement sculpting tools because the ones i ordered where damaged and unuseable.
At least the terminator bitz are here and you'll probably see some progress on my possessed terminators soon. (Just a remainder, there are located here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/534015.page)

I've made my first resin casts. I tried both one piece bases and two piece moulds. I had mixed too much but other than that i'm quite happy how they turned out. I had too fix a small error in the setup of the torso piece mould with carving one additional vent in to avoid creating a massive air pocket. But the resulst where nice, a bunch of air bubbles but that was expected. Now i have another reason to work on my possessed terminators some more.
