Thanks to both, really appreciated.

Slowly moving onwards, managed to get close to finishing the outdoor power generator (appropriate housing for the battery feeding the internal lights):

First wash is drying now on the main building, will be back.

Cheers.

Dr H: Glad you are liking it thus far. As for the warning sign, it just had to be there. Unending guardsmen can be sent to die in even the most pointless battle, but none can be allowed to die in a domestic accident !

Finished my entry for Bebop's Challenge, my first painted guardsmen:

Guard N° 1

Guard N° 2

Not satisfied, and far from the quality of the entries displayed in the Comp, but good I guess for a first try.

Bases could use more work, for one.

C&C on these will be even more welcome than ever...

Cheers.

I like the work on the faces. Perhaps more contrast between the clothes and armor?

I think you would benefit from a darker background in the pics. At the moment because of the white background, they seem very dark. I can see detail is there, but it is a little lost. I think you have done a great job, but the pics are letting it down ever so slightly. Maybe a beige or light blue background, white is too bright. Others are better at this than me so please ignore me if you want.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks for the input. Agreed, the blue over the grey is maybe too sober. I'll have to work on how to add contrast between the two while still being able to call it camo. Maybe the standard green armour over khaki has a reason to be...

Nevertheless, the background issue had a lot to do with the low key.

@Camkierhi: Spot on . Same pics, on a tan backdrop. Just a minimal post-adjustment to the exposure, and a totally different - and better - look.

Trooper N° 1

Trooper N° 2

(Problem is, all the remaining flaws are the paint's, cant' blame the lousy pics for those any more!)

@Gitsplitta: Thanks! Yes, at least the pics look better now .

After finishing those, I went back to one of the other ongoing projects.

Some paint, a wire fence and wooden steps:

Views:

Close Ups:

And scale shots:

Not done yet, painting for one should get some more work - Highlights for the building, and some touch ups, at least - and adding some more colour to the base if possible, either green - grass or moss -, or some random scatter, to break up the tans.

C&C is always welcome.

Thanks for stopping by.

Great add on for the Quonset hut, that central ac/heat air circulation unit. All you need now is formation outside with imperial guard marine infantry.

@silveroxide: I don't know about a full formation, would the only two I've already painted do?

@Gitsplitta: Thanks for stopping by, glad you like it!

@OneManNoodles: Thanks! Agreed, the fence and barbed wire can get stinging to work with...

Course change, back to the tracked (Not yet, will be) beast:

Basically finished the hull structure (except for the misfitting junction of the engine compartment and the main body!), and primed the main turret after adding a couple details to check for looks...

More to come.

Cheers.

That's really starting to take shape. Don't forget, I think the "standard" configuration is supposed to have twin heavy bolters in the front of each of the side sponsons. (something that I don't think was included in the original version).

Note taken.

The WD vintage model has a bolter on each side of the sponsons' facing, instead of the front-looking twin-linked heavy bolters of the current version.

There's still time to figure out which way to go, both options - remaining faithful to the old model vs. present config - at hand yet.

Not much to show for now, just a (slow) start on the tracks, lots of rolling wheels there are...

Thanks for stopping by.

First fitting of the track assemblies:

Rolling wheels will get hubs at least, to conceal their pipe origins...

Not where I should be

I really like the work your doing on this, looks solid and by the time you paint it, it will be awesome.

Only very small thing, are the cut out bits on the bottom of the side hulls meant to line up with the wheels.

@Dr H: Thanks for the ongoing support!

@Camkierhi: Ditto. Paint? That rings a bell... Paint... Ah, colours, and brushes! Still far from that on this one, but I guess it will eventually come to that !

As for the cut-outs and the wheels, yes, they are, and they will!

In fact, there' s one wheel missing in that tryout, and the one on the back - which would be the drive wheel - should be bigger than the rest. I'm building the track assembly as a separate piece to allow easier painting, this first mock up was to test for fitting and general shape (specially, since I'm using tubing instead of the suggested pieces for the wheels, and do not have appropriate measure quotes or references for those)

Thanks again for stopping by.

@People: Thanks for stooping by.

First, tracks. As planned after the first mock-up, added one additional roll-wheel and enlarged the drive wheels a bit. Hub caps and bolts, and primed. Assembled as a separated piece, it will remain detachable for the time being for ease of painting.

Added rivets. All around. A lot of rivets.

And reassembled.

Further detailing to come up next.

Your C&C are always welcome.

Cheers.

Not where I should be

I do like it, nice work with the tracks, only question, not important but...why have you got the top fully "treaded"! Could have saved materials, like I say not important.

Even WIP still, a better pic (larger, at least) was justified:

@Camkierhi: I could say two things. On one hand, I might be so badly OCDed that the thought of the incomplete tracks would come back and haunt me in my sleep, giving me nighmares of undrying paint and loosening glue...

On the other one, I could confess it wasn't as hard. The outer layer of the tracks are strips of micro corrugated cardboard, recycled from one of the Cub's kindergarten works; free, easy to use material, no big deal.

But I'd rather stick to the OCD theory!

Thanks for stopping by.
