What happens to the dead he raised if he dies.
Any Walker can raise the dead. I think they just had the Night's King do it to make him more threatening. Plus it was a giant middle finger to Jon Snow, who he seems to be very interested in. (Azor Ahai? Targaryen? Just a fellow Lord Commander?)
I really liked that Wildling woman who spoke up in favor of joining Tormund. She got a nice little bit of development and story with all those children.
When Tormund shouts out to the giant, does he call it "Wan Wan?"
The Tyrion/Danny dialogue was nice. I wish GRRM had hurried up with it.
I'm really looking forward to the Robert Strong moment. I'm curious if that'll be the ending of one of the next two episodes, just him standing there or picking Cersei up after her walk.
Now that Kevan has shown up, are we going to see Varys again?
The Dorne story looks like it could save itself in the next episode, based on the preview.

I don't think he will hurry it up.
When he was do some sit and talk with an audience about finishing the series he said something that jumped out at "If I finish the series in 7 books"
He doesn't mean there could be 8? right? right?
Automatically Appended Next Post: So Euron "crows eye" Greyjoy has basically been confirmed for the season 6 casting call.
It described as a "pretty good part for this season"
I really hope they don't screw up the Greyjoys like they did with the abomination that is the Sand snakes.
No mention of his dumb as a stump brother Victarion. would be disappointed if the left him out.
starting to feel like HBO will get there wish of an additional 3 season to the 7 seasons in contract between HBO and GRRM.
GRRM should just ask for a blank check right now and do a jig in front of them.

Spoiler:
I think all the above and perhaps a fellow Stark too.
That ep was definitely the high point of this season. Cool stuff happened, but I think it was also very well directed. The silence for the last few minutes of the episode was really effective.
AduroT wrote: Was surprised the giant survived the fight. (Wonder if Giants can be raised)
Hmm, yeah I was kind of hoping or curious what would happen to the giant. The White Walkers have been shown with risen horses, right? So we know their power is not only for humans.

Glad to see they finally had some real action, and more than 5 minutes on a given subplot. The giant was my favorite, wading out into 10 feet of water like "Hey fellas, why's your boat so slow?"
dunno what happens in the books but I'd like to see Bran do something to help against the white walkers, since they had to fight through the zombies and stuff to get to wherever he is and we haven't seen him or Hodor since.

I've definitely been more invested in the show myself when they're giving us 'new stuff'. I'm usually the grumpy type, but yeah, for most of the previous seasons it's been a case of 'oh, it's that bit, I wonder when this next bit will happen'. Now that there's new stuff happening, I'm properly interested in the show.

So, we were already actually past the end of Bran's story last season, so thats why we won't be seeing him this year at all. This season will effectively pass everything that Martin has written.
Additionally, I really don't understand all of you that think this season has been bad. At worst we've have some slow episodes because there's been a lot of exposition. But bad? Mediocre even? No.
The "worst" episode of the season was, I guess, episode 6, and even that was a really solid episode. The Snakes have proved to be a bit 1 dimensional so far, sure, and there was all the hand wringing over Sansa, but come on.
But then again, I think this has been, overall, the far and away best season of the show. What do I know.

Hopefully we will never see Bran and co ever again - he's off down the rabbit hole with some not elves or whatever - god I hated that bit of the books.
We (thats a friend and me) Watching the new episode tomorrow night - hope its as good as the rest of this season

The sand snakes, and by extension Dorne, have been terrible. By far the worst disappointment of this season.
I agree.
It's the one area where the showrunners haven't eclipsed the novels in terms of quality. But then again, there really wasn't that much good to work with there in the first place.
I trust that the plan is solid.
And IMO, whatever is about to happen there is going to end up in the fulfilling of the prophecy for Cersi, where her OTHER younger brother, Jaime, ultimately is responsible for her demise.

Haven't met anyone liking the boys yet. I mean...they're just boring. Dead. Boring. They contribute nothing, do nothing and meet some totallynotelves. Lay off the dope Martin!
Watching the episode today after dinner. Exciiiited!
Hopes:
- No Dorne at all, Jaime and Bronn just go Please don't bypass the language filter like this. reds8n and sail back.
- naked Cersei
- no more gaping plotholes
- Stannis killing his daughter with his sword (*winks at people familiar with the story*)
- Stannis getting slaughtered by the Boltons
- Tyrion
- Daenarys getting killed, Tyrion taking over (a man can still hope!)
- no more Wall scenes
- more Beyond the Wall scenes
- Samwell getting killed off
I'm totally rooting for either Daenarys getting killed off and Tyrion taking over or Daenarys ruling over the kingdoms or rather sitting on the throne being the naive boob (not using the other, more appropriate b-word...) she is while Tyrion handles the rest. #teamtyrion

Agree with most of that - (apart from all the Dany dying Stuff - a Tyrion /Dany team up should work well )
I think Natalie Dormer is sexier and often gets her kit off so maybe we will get both
Hoping Ramsey is in it for a bit yet - he is such a great bad guy.

This is the episode I've been waiting for since the Fist of the First Men cop out (off screen battle - we only see the aftermath) of Season 2 - an all out battle against the White Walkers. I know a lot of people hate all the High Fantasy stuff with the White Walkers, Children of the Forest, Faceless Men and Shadow babies etc; and prefer the more grounded real world medieval stuff of Kings Landing, Meereen etc. But I lap all this stuff up. I fething love it (I'm a Tolkien fan ).
I love the impending doom and apocalypse / Long Night mk II vibe of this episode. It was probably my favourite episode of all 5 Seasons so far. Its just a shame that Dorne is so crap.
Hopefully we will never see Bran and co ever again - he's off down the rabbit hole with some not elves or whatever - god I hated that bit of the books.

*raises hand*
I do. But thats less to do with them being interesting storylines in their own right, and more to do with the potential for those storylines (with Bran being the Three Eyed Raven's successor in training) in future books and seasons to expose a lot of secrets and revelations. Such as R+L=J, more revelations about the White Walkers, more details about the Long Night, glimpses and flashbacks into the past.

Valyrian Steel blades still existing:
Longclaw - Jon
Oathkeeper - Brienne
Widow's Wail - Somewhere in Kings Landing? Tommen?
Heartsbane - Randyl Tarly
Who else?
arya's needle is valyrian steel IIRC

I didn't mind Bran, but it bugs me that they spent so much time on his side story and then *poof* he's gone. It's like, why did we watch his story at all then? seems like wasted time if they don't continue it.
I still think Hodor is going to become a white walker killing machine. Or at Bran will be, and Hodor can push him around in a little cart.

Or Hodor will be a remote control White Walker killing machine. Oh wait, he already is.

Dagger used to kill Bran in the failed attack in season one.
Automatically Appended Next Post: well theres Hodor, but pure blood giant is one hell of a wrecking machine, just tearing apart zombies and smashing them to pulp.
then just wading to the boats, but interesting i always suspected valyian steel, the house that made it had a thing for dragon fire maybe the blade is imbued with a fraction of that's power.
the polar opposite of ice.

No, I'm pretty sure that Jon had the smith at Winterfell make that for her.
From AWOIAF:
Blades known to still exist: Heartsbane, the ancestral two-handed greatsword of House Tarly, currently in the possession of Lord Randyll Tarly.
Lady Forlorn, the ancestral sword of House Corbray, currently in the possession of Ser Lyn Corbray.
Longclaw, the ancestral Valyrian steel bastard sword of House Mormont. Currently in the possession of Jon Snow.
Nightfall, the ancestral blade of House Harlaw and currently wielded by Ser Harras Harlaw.
Oathkeeper, one of two Valyrian blades reforged by Tobho Mott from Ice. The blade was made for Ser Jaime Lannister, but he has given it to Brienne of Tarth for use in her quest to locate Sansa Stark. The blade was given its name, Oathkeeper, at that time.
Red Rain, the sword of House Drumm, which was stolen by them in a raid.[7] Given the name and coloring, possibly the ancestral sword of House Reyne.
Widow's Wail, one of two Valyrian blades reforged by Tobho Mott from Ice. Following Joffrey Baratheon's death, ownership of Widow's Wail has presumably passed to his younger brother, Tommen.
The dagger with dragonbone hilt wielded by Bran Stark's failed assassin, and currently in the possession of Petyr Baelish.
Valyrian steel arakh owned by Caggo.[8]
Valyrian steel axe reputedly possessed by House Celtigar.[9]
Blades with known fates: Ice, the ancestral two-handed greatsword of House Stark. Following Eddard Stark's execution in King's Landing, it is reforged into two longswords (Widow's Wail and Oathkeeper).
Blades with unknown fates: Blackfyre, the sword of Aegon I Targaryen. Carried by all Targaryen kings until Aegon IV, who gave it to his bastard Daemon, who rose in rebellion against the Targaryens, taking the sword's name for his house. Its whereabouts are currently unknown.
Brightroar, the ancestral sword of House Lannister, lost when King Tommen II Lannister of the Rock sailed to Valyria and never returned.
Dark Sister, the sword wielded by Visenya Targaryen. Its last known owner was Bryden "Bloodraven" Rivers.
Lamentation, the ancestral sword of House Royce, lost in the Storming of the Dragonpit.[10]
Orphan-Maker, the ancestral sword of House Roxton. Its last known owner was Ser Jon Roxton.[11]
Truth, a Valyrian steel sword last carried by Moredo Rogare of Lys.[12]
Vigilance, the ancestral sword of House Hightower. Its last known owner was Lord Ormund Hightower.[11]
But this isn't a complete list by any stretch...I believe it's said that there's at least a couple hundred out there.
Just reflecting further on the episode, that ending scene is one of my favourite scenes in the entire show. I loved what they did there, the silence, everything.

Ya, I loved it. The first thing that came to my mind was the very beginning of The Excorcist, where Father Merrin is at the archealogical dig and he's standing opposite the statue of Satan. Kind of setting up the confrontation for later.

Heres a few predictions for the next two episodes, and my reasoning.
1. Jon Snow will be ship wrecked, explaining how he appears in next weeks promo on the wrong side of the Wall (North), with Alliser Thorne glowering down at him.
2. Arya will kill Meryn Trant.
3. Stannis kills Shireen.
4. Stannis loses the Battle of Ice.
5. Melisandre will flee Winterfell and return to the Wall, just in time to [DO I REALLY NEED TO SPELL THIS OUT? ]
1.
Spoiler:
In the books, several of the ships sent by Jon (who remained at the Wall) were ship wrecked in a storm. There are also reports of "dead things in the water". So the White Walkers may be responsible for the storm and dispatch Wights to attack the shipwrecked survivors. Which explains why the White Walkers "let them go".
2.
Spoiler:
In the books, she goes rogue and kills a Lannister soldier for revenge, without permission from the Faceless Men (IIRC he was one of the soldiers at Harrenhal), who happens to be in Braavos escorting a diplomatic mission from the Crown to the Iron Bank.
On the show, Cersei dispatched the Master of Coin Mace Tyrell to Braavos to negotiate with the Iron Bank. She sent the Kingsguard Meryn Trant to escort Lord Tyrell. If you recall back to Season 1, Meryn Trant was the Kingsguard who killed Arya's "dancing" teacher Syrio Forell. There were leaked photos from filming on the Braavos set, showing Arya in her oyster girl costume and MERYN TRANT together in a market place.
So I'm calling it, Arya will kill Meryn fething Trant for what he do to Syrio Forell.
3.
Spoiler:
He has a messiah complex, thinking he is Azor Ahai. Azor Ahai killed his "love" by plunging a sword into her heart, which created Lightbringer.
