Stormraven Hurricane Bolters absolutely do work for the Rhino Chassis. Back in 7th, there was a custom variant of the Razorback that had twin Assault Cannons and Hurricane Bolters.

What would be cool is a Stormraven sporting some of the Predator Sponsons (HB or Lascannons). Could do 2x2 Twin Lascannons and Twin Multi-Meltas.

Well there's my new project. Assault cannon top from a Baal Pred and Hurricane Bolters sponsons. There was a super Lascannon LR too. That looks fun.

GW dropped the ball on balancing 8th’s points so hard that there may be a hole in every floor of GW HQ. They would have a point if points actually made sense, but points are so fuzzy that they... don’t.

What "time spent on all the bargaining"?

"Fancy a game tomorrow?"

"Yeah, sure. I'll bring my Orks. I've got a new Stompa I've just finished painting."

"OK, cool. I'll get the table set up. how about we do it as a Space Marine raid to blow up the Stompa before it can get to the Imperial base?"

"Sounds good. See you there".

Don’t be obtuse.
I’m talking the “Hm, that doesn’t seem fair, I’ll need to add an extra unit of this thing...”
“Are we going to allow LoWs or special characters?”
“Can I take my Thunderbolt?”
“What level of list do you want to play?”
“What’s the mission special rules?”
“My model has a broken rule, what interpretation do we use for it?”
“Well, what are you thinking on bringing?”

Open Play never works without negotiation, to ensure that both sides are balanced. Otherwise someone can say they’re bringing Space Marines, take a Fellblade and entire Terminator company, and either make the game utterly unfun, or force the other player to turn down the game. That conversation has never taken place, ever, except for possibly the greenest of noobs who don’t know what a Stompa is, or how strong their armies are.

Really like the sound of those two missions, Ascension sounds like a progressive scoring take on Eternal War and the other one will deal with Alpha Strikes nicely.

I'd be curious to see whether major competitive branches take on these Missions, as I'd really like to see a homogenized rule system.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

Yeah, but no faction traits? Because frankly, the faction trait is infinitely more important to the feel of an army than any of those other things.

I'm curious to see if there will be rules changes as well as points changes.

For example, they are increasing the cost of an assault plasma incinerator - which is fair enough. But people will still take them over the heavy ones, because the heavy ones are terrible. They need to be heavy D3 to be worth taking.

Loads of other examples exist of course. The point is, sometimes you need to change a rule that's too good or too bad - not just change its price.

Well, Stratagems are welcome, but I agree that Faction traits are vital. Unfortunately, it seems that they chose not to put them in Chapter Approved... Which sucks. :/

You can bring the list you're talking about in Matched Play as well.

Open Play absolutely works without negotiations. The problem is that people have built up this strange idea that people don't have at least a passing knowledge of someone else when it comes to gaming in groups.

Space wolves, Thousand Sons, Ynnari

I suspect Assassins / Sisters of Silence / Custodes won't get any special rules here, they're more of an add-on force than a full blown faction.

Thanks - good shouts - there is no actual reason why a entire book could not include rules for ALL factions - when they have stuff like the VDR for Marines.

Assassins, Inquisition, Ministorum, are going to be lumped together as Imperial Agents. Sisters of Silence and Custodes will be lumped together as Talons of the Emperor. Ynnari may or may not even get something. So I see it more like the following:

1. Space Eolves,
2. Deathwatch
3. Imperial Agents
4. Talons of the Emperor (or Adepta Sororitas if the Talons armies go in Imperial Agents)
5. Orks
6. Genestealers Cult
7. Dark Eldar
8. Harlequins
9. Tau
10. Necrons
11. Thousand Sons

Seriously, VDR for landraiders should be significantly lower priority to modifications to some of the indexes to bring them to where they need to be until new codices drop.

True, but it's hardly comparable. Designing VDR in narrative games is a lunch-hour job for someone.

Perhaps they will be in Imperial Agents. The problem with Knights, Custodes, and Sisters of Silence is that they don't really comprise armies on their own. Though really, stuff the Talon armies inn Imperial Agents and put Imperial Knights in their place in my list.

So factions without a Codex and one not already promised:

1. DeathWatch
2. Adeptus Ministorium
3. Inquisition
4. Sisters of Silence
5. Custodes
6. Assassins
7. Genestealer Cult
8. Orks
9. Dark Eldar
10.Tau
11. Necrons
12. Imperial Knights
13. Space Wolves
14 Thousand Sons
15. Ynnari
16. Harlequins

If Inquisiton, Assassins, Sisters of Silence and Custodes are into Agents then its 12 but thats a huge range of different requirements.

The problem with Knights, Custodes, and Sisters of Silence is that they don't really comprise armies on their own. Though really, stuff the Talon armies inn Imperial Agents and put Imperial Knights in their place in my list.

if they gave them their 30k units like they lavish onto Marines then they might be more of an army.

Well, Assassins, Sisters of Silence, and Custodes are simply not eligible for relics, warlord traits, or stratagems using the same rules as everyone else, so I'm not sure what you were hoping for. None of them have any HQs and so can't put together a pure detachment, which would be necessary to unlock stratagems. Sisters and Custodes lack characters and so, while you could choose a model from one of their units to be your warlord, you would have nothing that could take a relic or a warlord trait. I guess technically you could make an Assassin your warlord and thereby get access to a relic, but Assassins have a rule that says they don't get warlord traits, so I don't think they want to encourage this.

See my post above - a character data slate for both Custodes and Sisters would have been welcomed and easy to do with the mdoel range they already have. Assassins could easily have a rule to get relics.
