I love gears, but I have to admit the online isn't special in any way. It's not bad, but epic campaign is why we play gears. Also, I wish we could do offline beast mode!

When you look back at the word count of your short story after writing an intro and it's already at 1000 words without even referencing 40k terribly directly.

When spellcheck doesn't recognize "lasgun"

LOL only 1000 words? Or wait no that's an intro so that's probably fine. Yeah, I find myself thinking "time for space marine intervention!" in war movies that seem a lost cause.

yeah, only an intro, I wrote something like 8,000 words on my last short story and I couldn't even finish that one, I just got too contradictory with the characters I was writing about since they were based on my actual army.

I'm too meticulous with mine. My short stories turn into half-novels.

Also, you have to resist the temptation to use Deus Ex Machinae and to simply state characteristics of characters-you have to demonstrate those characteristics which is hard because no matter how you want your characters to be, your personality will always be evident in every single one of them. Only multi-personality disorder individuals find this easy. Most authors actually need to fully re-write their work several times to the point where they get sick of it (5 re-writes is usually the magic number-that's why gakky books have typos and classics don't)

By the time I finish a story I am so sick of it I can't even proof-read it, I need someone else to.

Posts such as this or ones that go on about the number of posts you have acquired are spam.

These will get the thread locked.

As will, despite the myriad of warnings before, users continuing to quote massive blocks of previous posts for no good reason.
