Okay, I wasn't 100% sure where to put this post. I don't think it breaks any forum rules, because it is a giveaway rather than me selling anything. But if the admins want to change it or move it, then please do so and let me know!

Basically, Black Library have given me all 13 novels in the Horus Heresy series to give away on my blog. Totally free to enter. All details on my blog here: http://floor-to-ceiling-books.blogspot.com/2010/07/massive-horus-heresy-giveaway-black.html

Would love to see loads of entries!

Just to clarify - because there has been some confusion. The person who wins the prize will win the whole lot: all 13 books and two audiobooks!

Its an amazing prize, and I think someone will be very happy to get it. I probably won't be entering though, for reasons that other people seem to be debating in the comments of your blog. I understand there may be certain reasons for wanting addresses before announcing a winner, for example to prevent people from entering with multiple email addresses in the same household. whatever the reason, I expect that many people will choose not to enter because of that requirement.

looks like a great contest though, and congrats to anyone who wins that load of books.

A galaxy far far away

So let me get this straight, because they asked for personal info up front to prevent against people entering multiple times you are against entering...but if they only asked for it if you won it would be fine?

I entered because its a cool contest and to support an independent blogger.

I entered. Is there really that much concern over giving a name and an address? I can get thousands of them just by opening my local phonebook. And they are availible to browse for any american city ONLINE!

One of the loop holes in gathering & later trading or selling information is that the person had to have voluntarily given it! So entering a contest for example would justify selling the information at a later date! I worked (shortly) for a company that did just this & also had entered a free car giveaway at the mall in 2007 & STILL get "contests" calling me today about how I just entered something (and didn't).....Also, a name & address (and an email & ip address) by these type of contest/gathering information sites IS in the top 5 web/mail scams in the USA! Just remember "Caveat emptor"

Just giving this a quick bump as a reminder that you have until tomorrow - Friday 30th July - midnight - to enter this competition.

It is to win ALL 13 books published in the Horus Heresy series. Here is the link: http://floor-to-ceiling-books.blogspot.com/2010/07/massive-horus-heresy-giveaway-black.html

If you've read the slightly snarky comments on the blog then you'll know that a number of people have had issues with a) giving away personal address details upfront and b) whether the giveaway is genuine.

If you are really worried about what I am planning to do with all the addresses (which is, by the way, delete them as soon as the competition closes - barring the winner's address, and that one I shall be passing across to Black Library so that the prize can be shipped) then please feel free to enter using just your email address. I shall just have to trust that I don't receive multiple entries from the same person - which is the reason I asked for the address in the first place .

With regards the second point, someone from Warseer has already emailed Black Library to ensure this is genuine and received a confirmation back - also, Graham McNeill has blogged about the giveaway himself. Hope that is enough confirmation for you guys!

I'm just trying to give away a fabulous prize!

Cheers,
Amanda

Aw man, sorry Amanda.

Amanda's quite genuine..we wouldn't have the thread here otherwise. It's all quite above board.

True. But the chances of a company collecting a bunch of geeks that play with toy soldiers is kinda low, and not exactly the same high return that one would get with giving away a car or vacation.....

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...
