Quite vividly. I hadn't found SW yet, so I used a POORLY CONSTRUCTED SM army against a CSM army with a rhino, vindicator, and noise marines. I lost terribly. Fun tho XP

Not all that wander are lost...... unfortunately, i'm lost.

I had a pure Khorne Berserker army, and was on a team with Necrons and Orks, versus Space Marines, Imperial Guard and Tau. Unfortunately i rolled a rather excessive amount of 1's for Kharn's rolling to hit. This, combined with my brlliant idea of sending all my berserkers into CC together, resulted in Kharn butchering a good proportion of my own army. Needless to say i was decimated, but it was still a hilarious game nonetheless...

...tanks from the 23rd and 48th batallion were flanked by tanks from the enemies' 56th batallion. It was then that General Smedfordshire revealed his secret weapon: a slightly larger tank.

In GW Dublin, I had 750 points of Nids,(old codex btw) against the the guy showing me to play against his very awesome Thousand Sons, I imobilised his dreadnought by turn two, killed off a squad of 1k sons and I lost a lot of termagants. It was a bunch of fun, and my first win.

Not my first "learning the rules" game but my first actual game. I was playing tau vs legion on the damned. I had no idea what I was doing and I was playing probably the best guy at the store. I got viciously smoked.

I remember my first game.

Against another total newbie, at my FLGS.

Both of us got half the rules wrong and neither of us had legal armies. Good times.

Lol i played against a member of the local gw store staff and didnt do to badly. A customer actually came over (must have been a regular) and said to the staff member "you losing again?" even though my dice rolling was off, i was instantly hooked and won the game. Saying that only managed to play three times since.

In the Webway.

My very first game was a beginner game at my FLGS i had the contents of the eldar battleforce + another unit of DA. That's a WS, 15 DA, 10 guardians and a war walker. I remember that most of the beginners had only a unit or two so i played against two of them. I remember one was SM, but i can't remember what the other was, nor the outcome of the game.

My first proper game was against my step brother's necrons, it was a normal VP game, the game was a draw (though iirc he was only about 10 VP from getting a minor victory) i remember i rewarded man of the match to a small unit of DA on the left flank who succesfully destoyed a unit of wraiths and then moved into the middle and shot some more stuff up. Well done them!

My first game... I threw together alist in about 5 minutes (having some random second-hand bugs, and having just bought the codex). The highpoints of the game were:

Lictor Dying vs a tactical squad.

Carnifex getting Mugged by 4 Dreadnaughts.

Leaning exactly why Genestealers hate Flamers.

My first game ever had me borrowing somebody else's Blood Angels in either late 2nd edition or very, very early 3rd edition. I had some Terminators with lightning claws and they killed a rhino or something similar. I can't remember it too well as I must have been 6 or 7 years old at the time.

Now my first game of 40k with my own minis was about 8 years later. About 5 of us really wanted to learn the rules, so we all built armies with the codeces we had. Of course only one of us had actually read the rules, and he left after about half an hour. So cue a big 5000+ point per side 2v3 or so where the one guy who'd read the rulebook is gone, and I only remembered a bit of the rules. Needless to say, it was a confusing mess. I think we won though.

Hmm yeah I do remeber my first game. I learned to play the game with the 3rd ed? I think starter. Had SM and DE in it. Me and 3 other friends played about 15 games with it to learn the game before we went on to our own armies. Was tons of fun!

Both sides were small so there was never any terrible moments and we all had the same amount of exp with the game at the time. Whish was zero!

Can't you see we have been abandoned? Forget matters of duty and honor to the emperor this is now a matter of pride.

Not my first 40k, Epic or BB, but I remember my first game of Warhammer. 3rd Ed, just after it came out (I owned 2nd Ed for years, but never had a chance to play. Starter sets rule.) I was using Gobbos vs. High Elves. I won, and my best mate got really pissy. But he was like that.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

I can. It was a game with messed up rules, as we didn't have a rulebook and didn't have a clue how to play. That was about 5 years back or so. We just made up rules as we went.

Yup, back in 2nd edition.

I painted up the SM's from the box set using Testors gloss paints, man did they look bad. Played my first game against another kid a little younger than me, it was his first game too. His uncle was a veteran player and overlooked the game, it was nice, he knew the rules so could correct us. My opponents army was beautifully painted; by his uncle of course. I can still picture them quite vividly as well as the terrain.

I don't recall the battle turn for turn, but I know I lost.

Yes, I do. Back in third edition, I was using a borrowed Raven Guard army to play out my first game, and I was making up names for the sergeants and captain. Then my opponent got pissed off at me because I used female names, and the game broke up after the second turn because I didn't want to listen to him. I suppose I should count that as a loss, as I basically forfeited.

My first 'game' was on the same day as I was introduced to the hobby, played LoTR... Had no idea what I was doing obviously, used borrowed models and had a more experienced player saying "Roll this, roll that."

Still lost!

It's not a story to be happy about. Elitist trash like this could have caused another person (who isn't as stubborn as I) to simply quit the hobby.

Yes, but those people will always exist. It's fortunate that someone as stubborn as you was the one who took the brunt of it that time.

Some people are pathetic. My first game was Tau vs. CSM. I remember my opponet laughing when I asked what my Kroot needed to roll to hurt the drednought they were in combat.

My first game ever was a 42 point game with my brother. 7 guardsmen on 7 guardsmen and you had to roll to move:
= 1 inch
= 6 inches.

We called it twig combat because we imagined that the field was covered with twigs that suppressed movement.

250 points of Dark Angels

Well, it counting as a loss depends on who was first to take the models away.

My first Warhammer game was Fantasy, and I took an Black Orc Warboss (I.E. The biggest Lord in the Orc Army) on accident and he won the game for me . What? I was nine at the time.....

My first 40k game was Guard + Chaos Space Marine vs Tau and Space Marines, 500 pts each. We won, but it was a hard fought battle.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

Can remember, but I remember the first time I walked into a store(gaming store)

1500pt O'Vesa Star W: 27 D: 2 L: 1
The challenge: in a 1500pt game I will play 900pt + D6x100 pts, if I roll a 6 I reroll and -100 to that second number (down to 1000pt minimum)

I can't really remember the first time I ever played (learning game) but I do remember the game right after. (I think it was right after ) It was (I believe) about 200 or so points of Eldar (him) vs SM (me) with no force organization chart. This game was with the SM I got in the 4th edition starter set, before I started my Tau army and the armies consisted of only Dark Reapers for him vs one Tac squad for me. Needless to say who won

Tied and gagged in the back of your car

Was at a GW. Neither my opponent or the members of the store knew the rules proper though.

Was my Grey Knights against Daemons, and the Daemons ended up getting FNP against power weapons, his entire army got sustained assault (a rule that doesn't even work at all anymore, let alone for his entire army). Basically, I was fethed from the get go.

I knew the rules better than the guys who worked at the store, and it was my first game. Of course, being my first game, it's not like I was going to question their rulings. They had supposedly been playing a lot longer than I have, right?

Of course, that's only one of the many reasons I don't go back to that store. The people there are generally grating and tend to be the kind of people that prove all the stereotypes right.

About a week ago. 500 points, no particular mission, my IG vs his SM. I played slightly less ineptly than my opponent and ended the game with 30-something models on the board to his 1. While my opponent had played the game before I got the distinct impression that he was new to Space Marines.
