Subject: Ideas on how to make a mega armoured warboss?
I was thinking of expanding my Bad moons army to include a warboss in mega armour. The only is that I'm not to fond of the Ghazghkull model and I can't get the Nazdreg model anywhere.(which I like but would prefer to make my own)
So I'm wondering of any of you have ever done this could you lend me a hand and help me out as how to tackle this modeling challenge.

You would want to get a regular Warboss and add lots of armour plates using spare Ork parts and GS. Remember to keep the Power Klaw and Rokkits/Shoota.

I think with all the new plastic components between the new Kan abd dred kits that some pretty kick-ass Mega armoured warbosses could be made.
Either use some of them to beef up and kit-bash a Ghazkull model beyond recognition, or build an "ork in the machine" mega-armoured warboss conversion off of a deff-dread...

There's an older edition model that actually is a Bad Moons warboss in Mega Armour.

Troy Cukas, who I believe is the manager of the Castle Hill GW in Oz, did a kustom mega armoured boss back in 3rd edition that I saw in a White Dwarf during the 3rd Armageddon campaign many years ago. I always remembered that one... If I ever find the old rag I'll put the pic up.
It's not the most incredible thing in the world, but it's a prime example of what you can pull off with an Ork and some bitz.

thank for all the replies but I forgot to mention in the original post I have don't have easy access to plasticard but looking at these I might go the extra mile.
In case I gave the wrong idea in the first post I don't mind converting metal models like the mega nobs or even gazzy (but only the torso and maybe his left arm but other than that I really don't like anything else about him)

I guess this thread has regained some relevance now we have the plastic MANz kit, as that would now be the obvious conversion base, somehow bulked up to a warboss's size. Has anyone done so yet?
And has anyone tried converting a plastic Ghaz equivalent?

No feth that, this is a TRUE representation of a jacked, brutally powerful Ork warboss. Note the head of Thraka in the middle of the it, where the Piranha chassis is:
If you don't have the bitz box madness needed for this, I'd say buy something like a Transformer toy, and use it as a skeleton. Slap panels from all sorts of tanks, use various cannons, enormous claws, etc. Put Ork symbols and hawtness all over it, and basically put a mean-looking Ork head somewhere in the middle of the torso.

The shoulder pad looks like it might be .040" but the gob looks thinner - I'd guess .020". Luciusletroll doesn't go into thicknesses in his tutorial, but I didn't dig through the Dakka thread linked under the picture - might be some info in there.
More generally, on bending plasticard: Styrene has a degree of memory, but not a large one. Shallow curves can frequently be made simply by bending the piece much farther than you want, causing it to settle into the desired shape once it mostly, but not entirely, springs back.
For tighter curves, there are two main options. The first is to use thinner sheet and simply anchor the two ends with glue. The increased flexibility of the thin stock means there's little stress on the joins - just make sure it's a protected area, as it can still flex during any handling. Thin sheets can be laminated to stiffen them up. The second method, which is needed when curving thick parts, involves heat. Styrene is a thermo-formable plastic. Heating it softens the material and it will maintain the shape it cools in. Hot water, a heat gun, or a flame can all be used to soften the styrene, but take care - you want to heat the material evenly and thoroughly, not scorch the surface and leave the core cold.

how do you get the plasticard to bend and curve like that on that iron gob and shoulder pad?
is that .40"/1mm thickness plasticard?
They are made from recycled scrap packing, so I don't know the actual thickness.
Oadie has the right idea. I curled it around around a screwdriver, and it opens up a bit, but retains some curvature.
I use pliers to make that BUT : If you go too harsh you can broke the plastic card and if I must re-do that, I think it's better to heat it with hair dryer before and bend it after
I'd recommend buying a few packs of plasticard, and just having fun with them on a few other projects. Make some Kans, some mek guns, whatever, just to get comfortable working with the material. Then, when you feel confident, go for the warboss. My first plasticard attempts look pretty awkward, but it got a LOT better quite quickly.
Also, rivets. Adding rivets makes EVERYTHING look better.
EDIT: I just realized I'm trying to give advice that was asked for four years ago.... but I stand by it!
