I never fielded one but players suggest that I do.

What do y'all think? Are they great, deadly, mediocre or what?

There are some good tactics here on how to gear / use them

That link summed it all up. Thanks man.

Because of the way many people want to play the first turn assault rule, single deff koptas with rockets and a saw are probably a very good investment. About two thirds of the players go with the idea that assaulting a vehicle on the very first turn auto hits, so a single deff kopta with a buzzsaw is a tremendous tank buster.

Why does my eldar army run three fire prisms? Because the rules wont let me use four in (regular 40k).

They can be very useful, against a player who knows what they do however, theyre less so.

The turn 1 buzzsaw assault can be nasty, until they let you go first and deploy away from them, your koptas are just free kp then, as tl rokkits aren't at all reliable 9/10.

Even if they go first, they can stop you from assaulting what they want you to turn 1 fairly easily, just wrap a crappy infantry unit around the priority vehicle, e.g some kind of artillery.

But I do like it when my Tau friend reserves 3 Hammerheads and a Piranha to avoid a turn 1 assault from two Deffkopta units

My bro launched 3 of 'em with the 2 TL'ed rokkits on each...due to ork shooting barely any of 'em hit and the ones that did, well, glancing hit. But they do have that potential to be extremely deadly, if I played orks I'd take em.

Sounds good.

The rokkits are very good, in my opinion, and moreso against meq, since they get no save, and are insta-killed.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I use two individual units of one with twin-linked rokkits and buzzsaws.

The most prevalent top tier armies: Space Wolves and IG.

A Deffkopta can tie up and potentially wipe out a long fang unit - those are long fangs not shooting at your battlewagons / kans. Shake/stun - even if you don't get a destroyed / wrecked result, shaken/stunned is good enough on leman russ tanks, vendettas....

You can hit up razorbacks and take down their weapon, wreck them, empty a transport....

Definitely useful.

Ooh i like that idea , would it also be effective against gunlines? Just charging into the front center and block LOS by been in combat?

I'm using 3 individual units of them. TL rokkits and Buzzsaws.
