I know that many of you were very interested in our Super Dungeon Explore line of models. We just finished catching up with some orders we had to fill from Gen Con and it left us with 20-30 of each promo model left. These are the convention exclusive promotional models that are about 20% larger than the actual release models will be.
I just posted them last night (US MST) and we are nearly through half of them already. So, I imagine they aren't going to hold out for a long time. Dakka readers have been great customers and supporters of us so far and I wanted to make sure you all got a chance if you wanted in on these collectibles.
Also, of note, we just released our new model for Relic Knights, The Iron Chef.
He's also currently available at the Soda Pop Store
Thanks as always!

Curse you Soda Pop!!! CURSE YOU!!!
I'm now $53.50 poorer, but will soon be five gorgeous minis richer.
Edit: I'd also like to personally thank you for letting us Dakkites get early dibs on these, I've been wanting them ever since I saw the gencon pics!

Agreed! I just hope the baddies are still there in two weeks on my next paycheck, doubt it though. I'll have to settle for just the good guys.

I should have pics of the two Super Dungeon figs I painted up some time in the
coming weeks. Today I just ordered the kobolds (they didn't have all of them at
Gencon).

The promos are a touch smaller than the old metal terminators. The normal production models are closer in size to an old space marine or old night goblin (with a bigger head).

Dun dada duuuunnnn
Thief, Trusty AoBR missile marine, dwarf, elf, paladin, and Lorenzo Lupo.
The thief I got at GenCon, assembled, primed, and am waiting to paint until I can do it justice. The others I just received from the second casting run, and I haven't assembled yet for similar reasons to not completing the thief yet.
Great minis though, I'd definitely recommend them and I'm really looking forward to the full release!

Do you know what the standard sized figs are going to cost? The game looks fun, but $10 a fig is a bit much for me.

I like these. A lot.
How many Baddies do you need?
Is it wise to get a couple of each warrior-type kobold, or is one each sufficient?

malfred wrote:Awww, why are they 20% larger? I love how they look now!
Cost is sort of the reason for the size reduction. Production, shipping, and cost to consumer are all much higher than we'd like for our plans with the game. In a system where you could field as many as 22 kobolds, a few drakes and a dungeon boss to take on five heroes. $10 a model is tough. Then there's the undead......
I said "sort of the reason" above because we never actually planned for them to be this larger size. These were something of a happy accident that we thought our customers would enjoy. It has been our intention from the beginning for them to be smaller. Trust me, they're just as cute and in many ways cuter in their impish smaller form.
The big reason though is this size actually doesn't work very well for gameplay. The models are big enough and heavy enough that they spill out of their bases and when you get a mob of kobolds all horded around a hero you get battered and chipped models very quickly. Being hobbyist ourselves, who love our painted models this makes us .
skrulnik wrote:

For the demo rules we recommend 11 Kobolds. 1 Shaman, 2 Ironscales, 2 Slingers, 3 Warriors, 3 Gougers. This is enough to give two Heroes a reasonable fight, while giving the Consul a enough kobolds to spawn with a challenging mix of abilities. We are planning on releasing the Kobolds for December just a couple weeks after the Heroes.
Zefig wrote:Terrainguy, are you guys planning on releasing the sample rules that you were using at GenCon?
We are. Though the game has undergone a lot of refining since then and the demo rules keep expanding on me as I write them to reflect that. We're close to being done though and I feel the demo rules will give you a nice foothold into the potential the game has to offer. We will release the demo rules right around the same time as we release the Hero models. Which are currently scheduled after Sebastian Cross, who releases next week. So, we are very close.

I wish I knew! We're still sorting that out actually. As soon as I know you will.
skrulnik wrote:Thanks for the response. Are there going to be multi-packs for the Kobolds or a starter set?
Eventually once we launch the full game there will be. Right now they will just be in blisters.
Platuan4th wrote:Will you guys be adding new heroes later? Maybe even a way to build our own heroes?
Definitely new heroes! Just playtested 4 of them on Sunday actually. Building your own isn't currently planned, but I'd not rule it out. We've given serious thought towards a campaign expansion that would marry to customizable heroes nicely.

Yeah... I was definitely thinking about this after I ordered the set of Heroes. I remembered seeing 10+ Kobolds in the demo shots and thought to myself "Wow, that's $130 of product in that picture... and this is a demo game... Hm."
Like the others, I do wonder how much these are expected to be in the proper release. I mean, even at half the consumer price (which I would not expect), $60 for the Kobold side of a demo-sized game is doable but I fear for a larger game, much more with a game featuring an undead horde against three-four heroes.
