OK the point of this thread is to get the DAKKITES view of what their top 20 (LIVE ACTION) Super Hero movies are. (If you don't feel like doing top 20, just do top 10)
I will keep a tally and report statistics from time to time as people make their opinions known. Also we can revisit the list as the years roll by.

Remember... LIVE ACTION super hero movies only.

Here are mine

1) Iron-Man I
2) Spider-Man II
3) Watchmen
4) X-Men II
5) Spider-Man I
6) X-Men I
7) Hulk I
8) Batman (1989)
9) Iron-Man II
10) Superman II (1980)
11) Batman Begins
12) Spider-Man III
13) Superman (1978)
14) Fantastic Four II
15) Ghost Rider
16) Hulk II
17) Fantastic Four I
18) Daredevil
19) Hellboy II
20) Hellboy I

You will notice I left off Batman the Dark Knight, as I didn't particularly enjoy ledger as the "Psycho" Joker. Don't let that keep you from voting for it though.

Whoo! Watchmen!

Also, no time for rankings, but I'm interested in what others' rankings are.

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

I absolutely loathe a good number of those movies, so this will be easy.

1. Dark Knight- Heath Ledger was awesome.
2. Kick Ass- Big Daddy and Hit Girl... 'nuff said.
3. Watchmen- The opening credits alone put them in the top three.
4. Iron Man- Downey Jr. makes anything worth watching, IMHO.
5. Daredevil- Kevin Smith was in it! It should have been you, X-men. How disappointed I am in the way those movies turned out...
6. Batman Begins
7. Batman 1989
8. Batman Forever- Max Shreck has gotta have more cowbell!

Honorable Mention- Hellboy II and Hellboy, in that order. The rest are just not up to snuff, IMHO.

In no particular order:

The Dark Knight (Dir. Nolan, 2008)
The Watchmen (Dir. Snyder, 2009)
The Hulk (Dir. Lee 2003)
Spider-Man 2 (Dir. Raimi, 2004)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (Dir. Radomski & Timm, 1993)
The Incredibles (Dir. Bird, 2004)

If we include movies based on comics, but not super hero comics, I'd have to add A History of Violence (Dir. Cronenberg, 2005).

I need an order for statistical reasons.

Also you listed 2 animated movies.

Than just take them in the order I put them in and remove the two animated features. I forgot about the ban on animated.

1. The Dark Knight (Dir. Nolan, 2008)
2. The Watchmen (Dir. Snyder, 2009)
3. The Hulk (Dir. Lee 2003)
4. Spider-Man 2 (Dir. Raimi, 2004)
5. Iron Man 2 (Dir. Favreau, 2010) - I thought they were both decent but liked Rourke's performance as Whiplash, so I guess it slightly edges out the original.

Does Boogie Nights count as a super hero movie? Dirk Diggler did have special powers after all.

I thought William H. Macy's character had a bit more of the "brooding anti-hero" that I tend to root for.

Spiderman 3 doesn't deserve any awards but it wasn't as terrible as everyone always says it is. It was an enjoyable movie; not a great one, but good enough to watch.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Yeah, Spidey III ahead of Superman and only just behind Batman Begins is something I'm just never going to agree with.

I'll have to mull mine over too.

All right I did some quick tabulation using excell. Since not all of you gave me top 20, I decided to use the number 21 for any movies that were left off of a true top 20 ballot. This means that if you left a movie off of your list I am assuming that you didn't deem it worthy to go in a top 20, therefore it defaults to 21. Even if you gave me only 5 votes the other films that you left off are assumed to be 21.

Also some of you didn't designate between HulkI or Hulk II, X-men I or X-men II so if you said Hulk, Am assuming you mean part I. If you vote " X film series" I am assuming you mean X film partI, prtII prtIII in that order.

You can update your votes, if you do, just post a new reply so I can keep track. So for example if you want to give the rest of your top 20, to help get a more accurate[u] DAKKA top 20, go for it, or if you want to clarify, go for it.

Also, if I only got 1 vote for a film it won't be reported.

So with 10 voters so far, this is what we have.

1) Iron Man
2) The Dark Knight
3) Watchmen
4) Hellboy
5) Batman Begins
6) Spider-Man
7) Hulk
8) X-Men
9) Hellboy II
10) X2: X-Men United
11) Spider-Man II
12) Batman (1989)
13) V for Vendetta
14) Kick-Ass
15) Unbreakable
16) Iron Man II
17) 1978 Superman
18) Hulk II
19) Mystery Men
20) Superman II (1980)

Keep the votes coming in I will update as I get more.

GG

Would it be possible to actually make this a poll? If everyone voted for their favorite it would still give an accurate ranking. Then you'd have an overall dakka top 20 based on the votes. Picking 20 options might be hard though. Just my thoughts.
