I was just wondering after looking at the grot tanks form forge world what build would incorporate them the most, are the rules fore the list in an Imperial Armour book or are they in the ork codex and is a list with them viable
Thanks for all replies in advance

no, they arn't in the ork codex.
they are in the newest IA book(can't remember the number)
the build that would be fluffiest for them would be 4 maxed out squads of Grots, 2 Big Meks with KFFs, 2 Deff Dreds(just say there is more then 1 grot driving), and your Heavy Supports filled with the Grot tanks.
the list would be fun to play and potentially good.

Yup IA8
Actually Fantasical IIRC the dread mob list in IA8 makes Grot Tanks Fast Attack, elites is for normal ork armies. Plus their grots are a bit expensive just for grenades. A normal ork list with grot tanks can have more of them along with kans.

They are tanks manned by grots
Pretty cheap too. Around 40 points for one with grotzooka. 6 in a mob so you could have 18 grotzooka armed tanks rolling around. Only downside is they have very little armor and move 2D6

But they do get a 5+ Inv... and can go 3d6 flat out... They come as Fast units but they can be made into Elites if you have a Big Mek
They're pretty nice, and I plan on running a Kan/Grot Tank list soon because I like the idea of 36 Grotzooka attacks per turn.

I'm converting my own (I'm too cheap to buy FW, but love the look of the grot tanks) and will probably just use them to count as Kans.
Some of the rules mentioned above do sound tempting though...

I've totally got you covered. I've gotten a look at the IA8 book, and it puts all the Grot Tanks, Grot Mega Tanks and Killakans in the Fast Attack. Imperial Armor 8 is more concerned with walkers, spreading those out across all your slots. As others have said, there is a note in Imperial Armor 8 that lets you take Grot Tanks as Elites in the standard Ork Codex. The Grot Mega Tanks remain Fast Attack, and the Killa Kans are naturally Heavy Support.
Grot Tanks seem underwhelming when you take each of their properties individually: low armor, low customization, variable movement, and only a single gun? The trick is understanding they are faster than anything sturdier than them, but more importantly, sturdier than anything faster than them. They also have a hidden bonus which became more apparent the more I played with them: their squadron sizes are huge! If you've ever played parking-lot Guard you know that you are as much a detriment to your firing lanes as the terrain is. Squadrons can fire through each other, which means you have much more freedom in your deployment. Larger squadron sizes also let you allocate damage. Where normally an opponent can fire just enough to silence a tank and move on, the Grot Tank Mobs can absorb tons of damage between their 5++ and dumping damage on already damaged tanks.
As far as equipment is concerned, Big Shootas are the way to go. Grotzookas have far too short a range, and I'm even reluctant to take Rokkits. RPJ and Skorchas is something I'd be interested in trying, but Big Shootas do essentially the same job at a longer range.
