Aduro – Please have patience – We have a LOT of work to do yet – especially on the top section. As I said earlier, these models are at least a month away from completion.

Kid_Kyoto, Covenant84 – Thanks for the kind words & comments! As far as the screws, has anyone ever looked at the bolts on the jumbo earth moving equipment? They would be roughly about the same size as a Warhound. The screws that hold the shin armor on are not as large as a character (see the photo of armor, character & screw).

I’m 6’3" and I have personally seen bolts larger than me in real life. They were taller than me, and wider than my thigh. I saw the wrenches and air tools that worked with them.

Covenant84, As far as the molds, there is a lot of undercutting on these, and as such, we have only found Greer’s silicone rubber would do the job. Even with the best products, eventually small chunks start tearing out of the molds due to undercuts, or they begin to tear in the corners. I wouldn’t even attempt these type molds with Alumilite – some would break during the first pour. We do have the masters, so we can recreate any mold, if we need to make repairs later. The cost of creating a new mold is a prohibiting factor, if we don’t need any more copies of an item. The mold for the shin guard cost over $25. It was about the same each, for the cockpit and cockpit cover. At those prices, a lot of time is spent on original design, and changes are not made on a whim,

CrimsonFist – I paid $16 for the little Allen screws for 4 Warhounds’ toes. I was also not able to easily find the correct size, however, I suspect they would also be cost prohibitive. Perhaps we are trying to over-engineer a model of which the imaginary original was under-engineered

ZamboniKnight - LOL! Trust me, we want them done, too! However, the biggest problem I see with most modelers, is they do great work until they get tired of the project, then turn what could have been greatness into just another model by getting in a hurry to finish. This final stuff takes a lot of self-control, but pays big dividends in the end. Besides we don't have a game room that can support a 14 foot tall imperator.

Screw Comment - I have spent a lot more time spent on screw rebuttal than I planned. Since apparently most don’t believe me, I did a quick Google:

http://www.bigbolt.net/large-hex.htm

1/4" diameter up to 20" long, through 3 1/2" diameter up to 30" long Metric sizes: M6 x 350 through M64 x 600. I can find larger, but hopefully you get my point.

If I can find Allen screws that small, I will probably change them out. But, bottom line - while I appreciate all your comments, we’re satisfied with the screws in aesthetics, scale, and functionality, so they stay. In the grand scale of things, I don’t have a major problem with a couple of miniature #2 screws 5/16" long on shin armor. Looking at the photo of the character and a screw with the armor, I don’t have a problem with scale either. That’s a pretty big piece of armor those 2 screws are supporting. In reality, the two screws would make it very easy for maintenance to swap out a damaged shin armor after a battle.
Don't Imperial battle cruisers have torpedos the size of 747's that have to be loaded by hand? Its not that hard to imagine "The Emperor's Shin mechanics" who run out with the "holy giant screwdriver" and get to work fixing the titan... come to think of it that wouldn't be that hard to model.

After a flurry of late night assembly we now have feet:

Some comparison shots with the screw and a marine:

Here's a pic of the other 3 titans:

All round awesomeness! Good point about the extra decoration to the shins/the available space, I'm especially looking forward to that stage when you add individuality and extra personality to the titans. But I appreciate the difficulty of the task, so no rush!

Well enough with screw problems lets get on to some real pictures!

First up is a close up of the waist and spacer/waist pivot point. We never really had a nice pic of it in here:

And now for the "Band of Brothers"

And a pic to show you how posable and well balanced the titans are:

The toes are locked into place so even if you tried to rock him he woun't fall over.

I've been following this thread for some time, but I told myself I wouldn't comment on anything until I'd seen all 4 titans together. Now I have.

You, sir, are ridiculous, in the very best possible sense of the word. Your artistry in designing and building these bad boys is exceeded only by your technical proficiency when it comes to casting.

They looks great, the posability is awesome, and there's four of them. You'll have to let us know how many quarts of paint it takes to cover them.

That last image is amazing. I cannot wait to see your 3000 points of Titans in a battle some time. The Idea that you could have an apocalypse battle with a force composed entirely of titans is amazing. Screw the FOC!

Awesome work. And just think, this project is only about half done. There's still detailing (don't' forget those cup holders) and paint. Lots and lots of paint. And then paint detailing.

Looking forward to page 24 of this thread.

When you get done building these, you will have to move on to build the army of servitors (some with giant allen wrenches and spanners) to follow the legion into battle.

Side note. I know you're getting some damage on the molds. Obviously the subsequent miscasts can be used to build cool terrain, but do you think you could pull a few chaos titans out of them? The miscasts might make characterful mutations or at least the basis for more mutations.

3000p of titans... To add to any existing force, sweet!

I'm pretty sure it will never come to that for me, sadly.

But I'm considering building a flyer.

malfred - LOL! Thanks for the compliment and letting me try to explain who Chinesus is to my father.

N1NJ4 - Thanks!

TragicNut - Thanks! I think the weapon in question is on page 6.

DFo - Thanks! Its a good thing I bought a small car spray gun when I did my armored company. Nothing like painting 16 russes at 1 time.

blinky - At the next mega game I'm running there will be 4 other titans on the "good" side and apparently evil is going to have 4 or so of their own. Nothing like 12 titans on the table.

Vandez - Thanks! If only forgeworld could catch up to us

Symbio Joe - Thanks! Its hard to believe that just 12 pages ago the titans were just starting out.

CrimsonFist - LOL! Thanks for the reminder Sometimes I wonder if this project will end. Before paint and detailing its time to add the electronics.
I've been contemplating building an Adept Mech force but I have some many other armies in the works (see my signature) that they may be WAY off in the future.
The miscasts are indeed becoming cool terrain. I don't think that I'll be building any more for a LONG while though as I still haven't figured out where these 4 will rest when not on the table top.

Azmodai - Thanks! I totaled up what I currently own of IG and with these 4 titans (and the warlord) I will have 10,000 points of IG. Kind of makes me think I shouldn't buy any more IG for a while!
Now don't give me ideas for other crazy projects. Since 5th Edition is going to have flyer rules its making me think about building up a few.And don't ma

tinfoil - Thanks! I'm really liking following your thread on the demon army, and I'll be following your example of turning LATD into demons.

You win!

I am so, so looking forward to seeing these guys in a batrep... alongside the Warlord. Now all you need to do is find a worthy opponent. My guess is that travel would have to be involved, or perhaps playing against someone from GW US.

Have you considered soliciting GW to give you a batrep (or at least an article) in White Dwarf once all of this is done?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Some backwater sump

First, the pics of the four brothers make my head a-splode. Breathtaking.

But... I think they need longer toes in the front. Maybe a 1 inch spacer. As they are it looks like they got the ends of their toes cut off.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the compliment!
Lengthening the toes really wouldn't work for a couple of reasons:
If you look at the toe as starting from the base of the foot and extending up to the knuckle and to the tip it's already almost an inch or two.
Look at your own toes you'll notice that after the knuckle there isn't much more to your toe, this is also true on our titans feet.
You'll notice our titans balance in any pose (including 1 footed). Something the flawed forgeworld and cardboard plan versions simply will not do without support.
Please look at the photos where the titans are standing with their feet next to each other you'll notice that if we add 1 inch to the toes they'll be stepping on each other.

Savnock - Thanks! I don't think I'll have to go outside my FLGS. Many gamers there have multiple 5000 or more point armies.

DaMaGe - Thanks! I'd love to be in white dwarf but we've had some bad histroy. When took the Warlord to the first Dallas GT "Dirty" Steve Fuller took almost 100 photos of it, and said we would have a bit in white dwarf as well as a whole multiple page spread on the GW website. Well nothing ever came out of it, and Steve never returned my e-mails. The best coverage I ever got was on the New Wave website, and we all know how nice they were.

They look good, I think the toes look fine. I've been inspired to attempt a Stompa/Gargant project on this scale. It will probably begin in Aug. Thanks alot, just what I needed more crap to get done...

also, those pieces go on the front of the cockpit...

now that I look at it I think they are going to be a new weapon...

It could be a reactor for the back, but I'm not sure if the back is large enough for it to fit.

Possibly a weapon mount, but I think that they already have good enough mounts and more would look silly.

Anyway, looks great, keep up the good work.

Whether or not it is deserving of a feature in WD is imaterial (although I agree with you).

The very fact that Foda has created these from scratch and not spent X amount of pounds on GW products, pretty much gaurantees that it'll not feature in WD. After all it is a big ads mag for GW/Forgeworld products.

Awsome as they are.

Yep, I did.

My guess is that it's a piece for behind the cockpit, that light will illuminate the cockpit, and that door's the entrance.

Really though, I didn't understand all that screw-haha, they've built a giant walking death-machine, they can build a biant screwdriver! The attention to detail on this never ceases to amaze me, I can't believe they're posable and can stand on one leg! That's just mental. Really, even concieving of such a project is borderline psychotic! Keep it up.

The point is moot to be quite honest. WD has not had any articles like this in a very very long time.
