Ha!Ha! I thought I'd go easy on you I'll look out for you next time.

I've got rid of the StuGIII and bought a shiny new JagpanzerIV.

Great, make it harder for me. I was watching you the entire time I was reloading thinking, that has to be a dakka member, and then you got blown up. :p

As far as heavy killing goes I still can't do much but enjoy smacking them with my shots, but when they're at 14 health and drop to 4 right before I launch I usually get the kill. Satisfying a boom if any.

Yeah, it's sad that there's often very little I can do about heavies as a tank destroyer. I can't wait until I get to the upper tiers.

edit: I dunno, I've kinda slowed down my playing of this game. BUt I'm still playing it... occasionally. Kinda like Global Agenda.

Tank destroyers can be taken from the side and rear, heavies should be avoided if you can't kill them. Remember you get XP for spotting.

I don't have a problem against tank destroyers... just a problem with being one and being unable to hurt a heavy.

Man, I hit a KV using my Grille today. I managed to hit the rear armor and brought it all the way from 100% to 1% while another tank finished it off. I think I died a little on the inside after that.

I also learned that when going head to head against a jagdpanzer using a grille, don't

Another hint of advice to you TD players from an SPG guy, if you're big enough we will tear down the house you're hiding behind. Rocks are pretty neat cover, but sometimes shots can be angled just enough to hit you.

A note to all SPG players, if you're playing himmelsdorf or some other city map act like a TD. Sure you have less armor than a TD but you still pack a hell of a punch and can rightfully pop someone should they come into your direct line of sight and yes people do come into your direct line of sight because the floating red square is an incredibly tempting target.

Well you could mod skins, add some insignias and do some popular color schemes

No idea how to import models (not to mention hit boxes would be horrendous to match since 40k proportions are unrealistic)

Saw a guy with a Tiger mod and it looked pretty good, forgot what site he got it from though.

Look for my first post in this thread. It has a link to WoT skins. Probably got it from there. Does anyone know when the French Tanks roll out?????

Got my first "Top Gun" badge with my SU-85 today. Middle-tier game obviously but I'm still happy.

Eh, given how much gold they blew on a dead end tank that's really not all that great I pity them more than hate them. I see a good number of Valentines which are surprisingly durable. In lower tier games they can be a bitch but in higher tier games is more like, "Heh, aren't you cute." *88mmBOOOOOM*

Why would you ever sell your StuG, most fun I've ever had has been in a StuG. I ask that especially now since with the soft wipe coming you could have gotten full price for that StuG rather than 1/2 price you get for selling it back.

I've got an Ork T-28 and a KV made up in Imperial Guard colors. Model swaps are possible, a popular one is to fix the Panther's hideous upgunned model.

There's a bit of difference between real life models and vehicle models though. A 1/48 Tiger 2 is a great fit for a Leman Russ(about 2 inches longer), but a 1/48 Sherman is smaller.

It'll be difficult as I think WoT would have the same scale for every tank.

Anywho, played a game with my team consisting of 6 Marder 2's and 6 Arty's. We had 3 heavy tanks compared the enemy that was just mediums and a few heavies.

Matchmaking can get wonky at times. I with they'd cap arty to 4 pieces per battle tops. Rolling into things with 5 or more arty per side turns it into less World of Tanks and more who's got the best cover.

Two things:
1) When will faction on faction battles start?

2) Playing in a platoon with arty on skype is lots of fun--concentrated fire FTW!

Historical battles? I haven't heard a date set yet. I pray they are actually historical with dates imposed instead of tiers.

tyyr, not historical, just faction vs. faction. Surely these must be in the pipeline.

Haven't heard anything like that and I hope they don't do it. If they do you'll never see anyone in those battles but Russian tanks. The maps aren't big enough for German tanks to strut their stuff and American tanks can't bring 20 to the field like the need for parity.

This was from back in June:

Information on clan wars and historic campaigns is now available
03 June 2010, 15:10

At its release, World of Tanks will feature Clan Wars and Historic Campaigns modes that will gather thousands of players around the global map fighting for world domination. We have prepared a brief description of what these modes will be like.

Clan Wars
There is a global map (Earth 1940’s, similar to that of Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, or Total War) divided into hundreds of provinces. There are several economic categories of provinces, from basic ones to “capitals” that will give most monetary benefits to their owners.

Once per day Clan Masters declare attacks on neutral or enemy provinces, and a corresponding number of battles are scheduled and take place accordingly. The bigger your clan is, the harder it gets to repel attacks and expand your empire. That’s why diplomacy is of great importance. Clans can sign treaties, non-aggression pacts, become vassals, etc. Having a couple of solid alliances will help protect the Clan’s flanks and rear. But we also expect a lot of treachery, changing alliances, double-agents, stubbing in the back and other political tricks.

New clans enter the map by having a chance to fight a battle for one of the “coastal” provinces. If they kick the owner out, that province will be their new home, from where they will expand deep into the continent. In order to start fighting and capturing the provinces you should gather a team of 15 players.

Clans can also participate in Clan Tournaments; those will last for much shorter time: from a couple of hours to a couple of days. The development team will be coming up with dozens of themes and formats of such tourneys.

Some players may choose to become mercenaries rather than being in a clan. There is a Mercenary market, where Clan Masters can recruit such players for reinforcing their clans in Clan Wars or other events.

Historic Campaigns
Historic Campaigns will have mechanics different from those in Clan Wars, they will also be much shorter and will include less building options with no diplomacy: typically, such campaigns can be completed within a couple of hours. They are designed for the teams which are formed on the spot and will last for just one evening (who knows, maybe they will evolve into a new clan). Obviously each campaign will have its historic sets of available tanks.

So you could have faction on faction but that would require the clans to agree before hand to limit themselves to the tanks of a single faction, and good luck doing that.

Checked up some more on the soft wipe. It's apparently tied to the release of the clan wars. Mods are saying January is a long shot, most likely February for the server split and softwipe.

Yeah, I'm just using the time to build more xp. I have pretty much all of my original target tanks, so at this point it's just putting xp in the bank. I'm hoping to pick up an IS-4, T-54 (assuming they aren't nerfed into the ground..it's russian, so not likely), an ISU-152, and a cash earner medium..probably T34-85.
