I was originally thinking Post-Humans, now I'm starting to think Shaltari...

Dare I say... both?!?

New units from the video:

Shaltari flier - has the same "wing paddles" as a gate ship, but appears to lack the gate. Different from the heavy fighter.

Scourge Flier - doesn't look like much, no visible weapons.

Colonial tanks - one that is probably the tank destroyer, one that might be some kind of artillery, hard to say. Also interesting to see the scale between the buggy and the APC - the buggy is tiny!

Post humans show what looks to be an air superiority fighter.

Well, you need two armies for a new game, so you can rope somebody else in. : )
No sign of any command figures. That implies that either a unit maintains coherency and functions together, or every model functions independently, but activates together? The number of units seems small (4-6 has been mentioned) for having to stay in one group.

There is this, but that's the only one that catches my eye.

Hmm, I'd forgotten that one. Still, it seems to be a fairly rare unit.

Also, does anyone see any difference between the Jaguar and the Occelot (apparently armed with a particle cannon - the most powerful line of site weapon it seems) other than the weapon loadout? I think they are the same figure.

Scourge Flier - doesn't look like much, no visible weapons. Corsair: Scourge fighter

Colonial tanks - one that is probably the tank destroyer, one that might be some kind of artillery, hard to say. Also interesting to see the scale between the buggy and the APC - the buggy is tiny! I spot the Scimitar Tank Destroyer, the Sabre's MBT chassis with AA weapon and the Command vehicle. No sign of artillery

Post humans show what looks to be an air superiority fighter. Triton: Strike Dropship, so I guess an air unit with both ground attack capacity and limited unit transport. The air superiority fighter is the Athena already previewed.

Actually not really new as they can be clearly seen in the BoW video in the OP.

I'm totally digging this. Very interested. Plus my best bud dropped GW years ago and got into smaller scale gaming. This will give us both something to start in on!

The fighter is clearly NOT the athena. Check out 2:50 in the video. Much smaller, totally different shape, comes in a squadron (heavy fighters seem to be singles).

I think you're right about the other stuff.

Eeer, I was saying that if you talk about Air superiority fighters for the PHR, the Athena takes that spot.
The airship you mention is the Triton Strike Dropship.

I don't see those things carrying a heavy walker. Maybe a unit of immortals or a recon walker. The set up is totally different from the Neptune.

Just beautiful!

This is another part of the beauty of this scale; they said at Salute that it's been designed in 10mm so that you can use N scale train buildings and scenery, such as the trees from Timecast Models

UCM appears to have an infantry dropship in the salute pictures. It seems to ether carry a box with guys or a single tank.

That's a good idea. I was doing the same thing with my game at first, telling folks to use O gauge model railroad buildings. There's SO much stuff out there for trains and a lot of it is pretty cheap too.

This is something I've wanted for a long time, as I have this urge whenever I have enough money, time, and space for the project to use N scale train terrain to make a scale model of whatever city I live in and then let two armies battle over it.

At this point, I've seen more than enough models and would like to see something regarding the rule set. Eye candy only gets you so far.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Well, you've got six more days of eye candy.

Its fun to speculate, even if only for a few more days. Do you think the relatively heavy emphasis on terrain we've seen means that weapon ranges are long and you are limited more by line of sight than anything else?

And am I the only one who can't figure out how the Shaltari striders actually walk, given their 3 legs and apparent center of gravity?

Dave says 4x4' is the default table size. Given that this is a game about dropships, an emphasis on long-range fighting would seem counterintuitive (except for AA).

we played 6X4 (Dave said first time tried at that size) seemed to work fine...

Even still, if I have aircraft used to quickly move land vehicles ... why would I bother landing them way far afield? If that's how the game works ... well, it'd be disappointing.

i dont know how much i can say without getting in trouble here but i will just mention that looking after dropships is paramount. Ground units are not all that fast. Long range shooting is not the norm... I have messaged Dave to see if he objects to me dropping more hints but no reply as of yet ( i would think he is VERY busy atm :p )

Obviously i only played a rough ruleset anyway but i was impressed, looking forward to the final rules... i dont want to say more because i would hate to give people the wrong impression.

Echoing A2 above, I am a little puzzled as to the silence on rules. Surely, there can't be playtesting all the way up to accepting pre-orders? I mean, this process has already taken two years.

I hope the full website launch entails a vid giving some sense of what gamers can expect from play.

Ok, i have received a message from Dave. i wont be talking about the rules but what i will be talking about at length are the models.

Now i know you've all seen the stuff posted on here but that is nothing compared to what is to come. As i recall every faction has about 54 models and you've seen hardly anything yet... There's infantry, heavy infantry, tanks, AA, heavy tanks, APCs, Dropships, Heavy Dropships, Gunships, Fighters, Bombers, recon vehicles, walkers, heavy walkers (thats just off the top of my headand it all looks the nuts,)

One thing i want to mention is the quality of the casting, it is excellent, i was blown away by the detail on all the models. Its ultra crisp too, Dave mentioned there is little to no flash on the resin as they are cast and everything looked amazing. not just the big stuff either, Down to the smallest models the detail held up. Its a real indicator of what CAD and a talented designer can do. The vehicles the dropships are designed to carry actually fit on the models on specially designed points which is very cool (bet you could do some great stuff with magnets)

The infantry is metal not resin and these were hand sculpted, these look great too and there's some awesome looking elite scourge infantry that i dont think have been revealed just yet. Again the detail and variation that he has managed to get on these tiny models is great considering the scale, as you'll have seen from the pics.

Another thing is the material itself, i've not seen anything like it,. Not only does it hold the finest detail, its really good quality. Not brittle, it's lightweight, it flexes and has memory return so wont go out of shape(no broken models in carry cases) but will hold up better in heat than finecast (although excessive heat is obviously not recommended) but amazingly, IT BOUNCES. im not kidding, Dave bounced a shaltari gate off the table and it was fine (even with the feathery bits sticking out of it). The only thing broken was my mind as it imploded. I honestly think this is going to change resin model production as we know it. These are without a doubt the finest gaming grade resin models i have ever seen. The amount of interest the models have generated speaks for itself.

Speaking of which, the game we played i used UCM and dave said he was using the models that didnt quite make the cut quality wise as it didnt matter if a mishap happened. Damned if i noticed, Dave had to point out any defects and even then i would have not recognised them as such really, if they are any indication of the quality then everything for sale should be nearly perfect with only minimal preparation.

The only other thing im not too sure on is i think he said there was no release agent required so no need to wash the resin (but i cant be sure on that, its a bit hazy so i could be wrong/thinking of something else)

Two things i ask:

1. Do NOT take this as official from Hawk Wargames, these are MY recollections and MY descriptions.
2. Please do not press me for details on the rules and the game. I signed an NDA and even if i hadn't Dave is a top bloke and this is his baby, his call, i dont want to inadvertantly hurt DZC by giving out info that may have changed.

Under a week till pre orders.....
