I suspect the Twilight Knight will be a direct from SPM only type miniature in the $12.95 to $15 price range (depending on if there are licencing fees)

Holy cow! That's an incredible dragon model. I have to admit, I passed on the Kingdom Death KS because the female characters aren't something I'd want to game with.. but their range of monsters are super impressive!
Of course, while I might be able to get away with most of the (non-pinup) survivor characters on the tabletop, which are pretty much the only ones you can actually use in the game, there is no chance in hell I'd be able to bring out a dragon that is a gigantic tumescent penis with a Prince Albert! Ah Kingdom Death, you have a singular artistic vision.
Also, I actually prefer the original plastic Starfire to the resin!
Hah, yeah. It's something I really like about KD. Sure, not all of it is my cup of tea but I am glad that it can exist, and that there is someone behind it who is willing to keep delivering on that same style instead of homogenising it with something tamer and more mainstream to pander to a wider audience.
Mind you I really like the guys over at Raging Heroes so what do I know?

That puts the RK minis issue to bed it's fair enough I don't have an issue with that as an RK backer
Creator Soda Pop Miniatures less than a minute ago
The Relic Knight SDE models will not be part of this Kickstarter. However, we have come to the decision that AFTER all Relic Knight backers have received their entire pledges we will make them available through our web store.

Heh, you just beat me to it.
The news that they will become available makes my inner completionist happy, but I'm sure there are also people who are going to be pretty annoyed at this.

The only people that will be unhappy are those that bought them to sell on at a profit no more $200+ sets on eBay. I got 2 complete sets myself but mainly because I juggled around my order when the CKPM open and ended up with spare funds to allocate I hadn't intended to sell them and was keeping them as a gift.

There will be - but meh. I ordered them and I'm fine with it.
I'll get them early, and a fair bit cheaper than they'll otherwise be available. That seems fair enough to me. I know I hate it when I discover a line only to find that half of the coolest stuff was limited edition.

So, I need some help here.
Given how delayed Kickstarters can be in general, and SP's KS in particular, and that there is nothing here that is KS exclusive...
Is there a really compelling reason to pledge for this now, rather just waiting until it hits retail and pick it up from, say, the Miniature Market at a discount and with free shipping if the order total is over $100?

Keep on eye on it, it depends where it ends up in 29 days I guess the $100 could have a lot if added extras (or not). There are probably going to be a few minis in this like Brave Candy and Twilight Knight that might only be available direct from SPM later so higher cost plus shipping really at this stage it's to early to tell.
I've already compared what it would cost me retail to KS and even with VAT which may not be an issue soon the KS is still slightly cheaper but that's probably different for US backers as the game is easier to get at discount and with lower shipping costs.

At the moment, no*. This may change over the next 30 days if more of the Loot is applied to the pledge level and not just the TFK box itself.
* except to support the game. It's already funded so we can at least be sure that it's going to exist at some point.

Out of curiosity, whats the distribution look like for Tentacle Bento?
Much like this, it was put out by Soda Pop without CMON... so its likely that however plentiful TB is currently is how SDE will be in the future.

That said - and thinking about the discussion with Salacious Greed earlier in the thread - I have to ask myself this:
Why do I ever buy a video game at full price, let alone pre-order one, when I know that in 2 years I will be able to get it for £5 or less in a Steam sale?
Partly it's because I want to play the game immediately.. and partly it's because I want to support the people who made it. I would like to think that their cut of £5 is not as high as their cut of £30. I guess for me, the same logic applies here, albeit with a higher dollar value.

That analogy doesn't fly because usually old board games and old miniatures don't go down in price at retail due to time passing. In fact, when they go out of print, they go up. If we were getting the 3+ year old core boxed set for 30$ now, then your analogy might hold water.
Also, with a lot of these KS, the manufacturer is so starved for money, they often prioritize retailers to get product as fast as possible so they can get that additional cash influx so often we will see KS product in stores at the same time or slightly before backers get theirs. Almost every KS I have backed, I have seen the stuff I backed available at conventions BEFORE I get my product and often available at retail or online from stores before mine has shipped.
If you are international, the chances you will get yours a month after retailers have it often means KS is the slowest path for getting your minis... May be the cheapest and be a deep discount but it is the slowest option for most people.

I suppose the difference is that recent video games tend to become both more available and cheaper over time. Board games may receive an initial retail discount, but then often become less available over time. They are also not as cheaply distributed, so buying them frequently incurs postage charges in the UK regardless of base discount. I don't buy a £50 game when it'll be £5 in a year, but I will buy a $150 kickstarter board game if I think it'll be a royal pain to get hold of later! Tried ordering Von Drakk Manor lately?

True, but the comparison is only relevant when you consider the Steam sale as the point in time where you can obtain the game as cheaply as it's ever likely to be. The same is still true of boardgames but that's likely to be in a different window (let's say 9-12 months after release when sales have started to drop and it's just taking up shelf space)...and of course, the price reduction is not going to be anywhere near as significant.
But if it's something you can count on happening, then I think the question is still valid. Why buy the product for X amount now when you know that at some point in the future it is going to be available for Y (or less)?
For me, I can just about justify it for no other reason than to better support SPM. The idea that you aren't necessarily getting it sooner than retail is certainly true though! I wonder when I'll get my copy of MYTH..

I know they usually sell them at Gencon, and I want to say it's available in their webstore. I haven't seen any other copies out in the wild myself. Of course, TB may be a unique case- it had a bit of a kerfluffle when they first brought it out... It may be something they offer, but don't push.

You can get Von Drakk to the UK immediately for 70 bucks (including shipping) from retailers. (I did UK, London for shipping costs)
I suspect you can also find it on ebay slightly cheaper too.

Don't think it'll take that long to unlock everything. Half of the stretch goals have already been hit and we're a day into this KS.
Edit: That's assuming, of course, that there's not another tile with more goals waiting to be thrown up on the KS.

I'm almost certain there will be - given how the dotted line leads off the map at the end. IIRC I worked it out the other day, if there's a second map that also has 10 stretch goals, and they stay at 25k a pop (which they should, since they are relatively small additions, and half of them are paid add-ons) it would take $600k to unlock them all.

Hard plastic similar to the stuff used in new FFG games and in Zombicide.
Any primer you'd use for a mini works here.

So once these are unlocked, that brings the total character count across all releases to 26 non-exclusive minis.. and that doesn't include any future unlocks or the RK SDE minis which were exclusive but won't be once all the RK pledges are delivered. That's pretty awesome!

These new heroes in this KS. Are they exclusive-gone-once-this-is-over type things, or will they show up for general release a while after this is done and dusted? [EDIT]: Should'a read the FAQ I guess... No. Soda Pop Miniatures is dedicated to the long term viability of the Super Dungeon Explore community. Every model funded by this Kickstarter will also be available after the Kickstarter. We want people to be able to join the game and have access to all the models no matter when they discover it. Even without exclusives, backers will be receiving their items early as well as at a significantly reduced price. I guess I'll ask a different question: I felt pretty burned by my original Super Dungeon Explore purchase. After spending hours putting together those God-awful designed miniatures the last thing I wanted to do was play SDE, and in the time since I've had it I've played it once and it did not go well. Some of that was our fault - we weren't totally up to speed with the rules - but nothing about the game was intuitive that first time around. I've wanted to go back to it since, but as the bad taste in my mouth from my initial impressions was so strong I've been wary of trying again. I really like the aesthetic, and I want to get back into it. I'm also a completionist, so I'd be getting everything. Also keep in mind that I backed out of the RK KS after pledging over $600 to that, and don't really feel like dealing with a year+ of delays again. So, my question: Why should I back this?

If you have money to spend now that you won't be able to spend later, if you're a completionist, if you have faith that the new and improved rules and game types will actually be new and improved. If you like/have faith in Sodapop and believe that they'll deliver, and want to support the project. Oh, and if the $100 package in 28 days time actually represents a significant value level for you - including the potential costs to ship to Australia.
As far as I see it, the current backers are either people who own the previous game/expansions, like them, and are up for anything else in that line, or people who are interested in SDE and this represents a good jumping-in point. Later on I'm sure we'll get the "it's just too good an offer to pass up!" crowd, and hopefully between these the project will keep up some sort of momentum.
