SickBunny wrote:Another thing to consider is that when the actual Kingdom Death: Monster Kickstarter campaign was going on, the assumption was that the miniatures would have been softer plastic, like in the "Experiment of Death"-kit which was similar to the material of Reapers Bones-models. Poots then proceeded to throw in enough of his own resources to upgrade each and everyone of those miniatures into proper (and vastly more expensive), incredibly high quality HIPS-models. So him not being able to deliver the same quality for the biggest individual expansion of the game for 45$... I have no problem believing that. Also he had cited gameplay-problems with the expansion from early on, so his own dissatisfaction with the product was well established and it is obvious he really wanted to deliver, but in the end, just could not justify the final product for the cost involved.
I personally do feel sad for not getting an extension to the campaign play as admittedly, it is a harder sell to my regular gaming group to hurl them into that dark purgatory with only the promise of miserable death at the end when the lights go out/Mother Sun devours/Dragon detonates. So, personal loss but one I can completely understand from a delightfully mad Poots.
And I shall be throwing more money his way come the second Kickstarter simply for the appreciation I have for his pursuit of perfection in a time when so many Kickstarters fail even the most basic expectations now that you really cannot say that we all are not aware of all the pitfalls of kickstarting a boardgame or any other project.
Kingdom Death, to this day, still stands as the single, sole project that always overdelivered on every facet of the game. All you need to do is compare the original kickstarter notes to the final product and the mind simply boggles at the scope of enhancements done, mostly on Poots' own resources and money and time and effort.
Pretty sure that you're mistaken and that it was always planned to be in hard plastic (HIPS)
Edit: Just checked and you're actually right. It was originally planned to be PVC.

Yeah. Somewhere there is a huge pile of PVC Phoenix models that just didn't meet Adam's standard. That would have been some fairly expensive brass / aluminum tooling to cut, and the result would likely have been Bones-like, with the sorts of softness, sink and shrink that is common to the medium. For how much Adam is a perfectionist, moving to the crispness and precision hard plastic was pretty much a given, even though the steel tooling wrecked his original cost case by several $100k.

I don't think those models would work in PVC. especially the Phoenix.
I'm grateful for his change of design.

I didn't back the project for this exact reason. I bought the experiment of death and was so sad about the "quality" of the minis.
When he changed to styrene, and the final price of retail started to come to light, I was kicking myself :(
I've got a few of the resin figures, and the styrene set of the various female sculpts, but I don't know I will ever own the game, which sucks as I love the world that is being built here.

The launch date is the 25th, Black Friday, as confirmed on KD's official Tumblr. I'm not sure where you would have heard the 10th.

There are LOTs of KS launching right now. Of all of them, I'm most interested on KD2. If, for some reason, I'm not happy with it, I guess I can find another place for my money...

Anyone see the Storm Knight sprues that have popped up on Facebook and ebay?
This is from the Facebook group who got it from 4chan. Supposedly came in one of the armor kit bundles.
Notice the names of the sprue there. Hmm....
Isn't the first time Poots has teased sprues of upcoming kits.

Not a surprise at all. I think most people expected this move from Poots was nothing more than a money grab for KS 2.

Just glue them together, they come with different inserts though, so you can go for the stone faces or, the more plain ones.

If you happen to be awake and interested the core game is a pretty great deal on the Early Bird which will last another 5 minutes or so at this rate.

Yeah, next KS is up.
Not liking that the pledges aren't too detailed on what is fully included in terms of stretch goals, nor that there are no visible stretch goals. He knew that this was going to fund pretty much under a minute. More details would have been nice.

Yeah I grabbed a Silver Lantern pledge.
I was looking at potentially upping it to the Black Friday Lantern since it was only a difference of $15, when I noticed that didn't have any of the new stuff listed with it, and wasn't sure what was included in the pledges.

Well, the Silver Lantern is the *upgrade pack* so would be for anyone who owns the game, and the Lantern is the *core game* so would be for n00bs. The Silver Lantern has the Gambler's Chest and First Hero Expansion, while the Lantern does not.
Note the Wave shipping costs. Frex, if you're buying the Silver Lantern, you'd be paying shipping costs for the Update Pack for Wave 1 *AND* the Gambler's Box for Wave 2. Not clear which wave the SG's will be shipped in?
So, as a n00b here (: do the Armor Kits each create their own figures, or do they only add parts to modify the 4x Starting Survivors? TIA!
EDIT: BF Gold Lantern no longer available!

Going to suck it up and get the gambler pledge.
Probably spent more than that last time around over the various waves, let it be one and done and snatch everything all up at once.
Also the black friday ninja is a pretty cool figure.

Having read the campaign site, I'm somewhat baffled by the enthusiastic backer response. The first campaign was exciting and bold, where as this one is shrewd and deliberate. You can almost see the bets being hedged.
Also, am I reading it right where it would cost $60 (base pledge) plus $15 plus $2 just for access to buy add on expansions? What is he planning to offer backers who are good without buying a/another base game but who want to buy expansions or armor kit add ons?

Funny, when I finished my pledge, it said I and 47 other backers had pledged, which should mean I was number 48. But, my confirmation email says I'm number 275. :(
Anyway, in for the black Friday silver lantern for the upgrade and the stretch goals.

No, I'm aware of that part. It's the range of inclusion each pledge will have for stretch goals I'm wondering about, and annoyed that the kickstarter page didn't list either the stretch goals (everyone knew this was going to hit over $2 million tonight alone.
Stretch goals should have been listed from the start, and to what extent will be additional purchases or included with which pledges.
