I painted my Tyranids Red Base already but I can still modify it...I was having second thoughts and I was wondering which one of these 4 schemes do you guys think I should go with? Don't know if this will affect the answer but my hive is called "Hive Fleet Release the Kraken"

(look at the individual carapaces. I tested them out on separate scales)

I am also thinking of possibly coloring every other scale differently...saw hyvemynds army like that and it looks pretty cool.

Appreciate any input on which to pick but would also LOVE any tips or advice on painting my guys better.

Hah thats the second person whos told me that so far. That would be the easiest scheme to do since I already have them all based red....

Anyone else? I want to compile the ideas tonight and start painting my army tomorrow!

since blue is my favorite color, i have to say i like the blue and white, but the red looks cool tooo...

So far blue>white and red>orange>white are in the lead!

I posted this on another forum as well and someone said they liked the red>orange>white because it reminds them of a crab. Crabs reminded him of the sea. The Kraken is in the sea. lololol

Since the skin looks like bleach bone, I prefer the purple in either picture 1 or picture 2 as having white edges makes the carapace lose some contrast with the skin. The model could end up looking a little flat. Try a full model and see how it goes.

Yay! Thanks for the help guys! I compiled all the votes from all the places I posted and Red got 11, purple got 5 and blue got 2.

Considering your alternative routes I'd say you are going for the best one. Even though I prefer the black, wet, alien look myself.

Yeah this would have been a great poll thread. I like the red and white the best as well.

The black and white with small layer of purple in between is PERFECT. Such a great color scheme.

Truthfully I like your last idea of making each scale differently. I would just have them fade into the next color i.e. one scale is red into white then the next scale would be white into blue, then scale 3 is blue into purple. Obviously the color choices are up to you
