Curious about Dakka's favorite holiday songs if any? or if anyone has disdain for holiday music.
I worked in retail for 5 Christmases and I had to listen to Christmas music for six hours straight for a month at a time, and so Winter Wonderland fills me with dread.

I'm loving the idea of Cthulu Christmas music. that's really funny.

I got it off a friend of mine - don't know where she got it from.
She generally listens to punk a lot though (and her hubby is more classical music) and was quite shocked to discover that several musos she listened to in her youth died this year.
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I too worked retail for a number of years, and to this day, I still cant stand hearing christmas music. I havnt worked in retail in about 4 years ish, but still that cold chill hits my spine when it comes on. Thank god for Pandora, my christmas music is whatever I want it to be
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG
-"Don't mind Frazzled. He's just Dakka's crazy old dude locked in the attic. He's harmless. Mostly."

Father Christmas- The Kinks
Christmas Wrapping - The Waitresses
I Won't Be Home For Christmas - Blink 182
Those are three alternative/pop ones I dig, off the top of my head.
I've never worked retail yet, though, so a lot of the classics are still enjoyable to me. The Boar's Head Carol isn't too common in America, but I've always loved it.
When I was a teenager we were friends with a bunch of the Greenwood Singers in Seattle (though I see a professional outfit from Alberta is using the same name now), a bunch of amateur pagans, Wiccans and Druids, who released a nice collection of carols with adapted lyrics, which my family always listens to at the holidays.
Gods Rest Ye Merry Paganfolk is probably my favorite, and I still sing it from time to time.

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
Excellet choice. Fairytale of New York is awesome. I should have thought of it; I usually think of it more in context of Irish music than of Christmas songs, but of course it fits.

My husband and I just watched that Patton Oswalt video that was posted on here. That was hilarious.

My husband told me that last night the radio station was going to play the Corey Taylor Christmas song and that someone called in and said I'm glad you're playing that song because I've been shopping in Walmart and I just switched all the radios to Project 96.1 and turned them up. I love the idea of the holiday shopping population of Walmart being subjected to that.
