What is your favorite 40k unit? It could be just a codex entry, or something much more specific. I'll list mine as an example:

Simple: Grey Hunters, Codex Space Wolves

More specifically, my preferred loadout is:

9 Grey Hunters, Power Fist, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Mark of Wulfen, Rhino. Attached Wolf Guard in power armor with Power Fist & Combi-Melta.

It's mobile, tough, scoring, and is more than a match for other armies assault specialists. I used to take four of these units in my Space Wolf armies, but now I'm thinking of dropping terminators/land raider and taking taking 6! Squads of Chaos Marines, Daemon Princes, and Obliterators just bounce off these guys.

Anywhere worth being

Diversified Nobz with Ghazghkull in a battlewagon covered by a KFF.

Name a unit. Any unit. This will kill it. And it has a 23-28" charge range, depending on what Ghazghkull rolls for difficult terrain.

Sternguard. They're just cool.

Of course, Nobz (especially with the delicious kit they have - ok, it doesn't cover every option, but they have the best CCWs I've ever seen. No, not the powerclaws...) are just made of win.

Chaos Sorcerer.

Nothing screams arrogance and sheer, unbridled power like a Chaos Sorcerer. I could be biased due to the sheer amount of fluff I've generated for Levistus, The Dread Sorcerer, but I guess that's what this thread's all about: bias!

In second place: The Archon. Equal helping of arrogance, only flaw is no sorcery.

Inquisitors have to be my favourite thanks to how customisable they are; while also Grey Knight Terminators and Sisters of Battle Celestians are pretty awesome too.

It would be a toss up between a couple different things......

full size FARSIGHT bomb, diversified nob unit, 10 man diversified chaos termie unit, GK Terminators or a standard Assault Squad from the BA dex would all get honorable mention.

I would have to say full size scout bike squad with all the trimmings!

Good trades: 8!!

Harker and Imp Guard Vets are my favourite... its a fluff based attraction mainly as my regular opponent knows how demoralised I become at there loss and they rarely make it through 2 turns...

My Imp force never seems to be without ratling snipers... cheap and if they are unmolested by the opposition then they can take down many opponents.

I'm going to say that I love units that are mobile. Orks in wagons. Eldar vehicles. Bikers. Landspeeders.

40k is a game about movement. Being just out of charge range, or landing on the objective on the turn you want, etc. More movement means more options which means a greater ability to make the game yours.

Mega nobs: over looked unit, preforms well, cheap power klaw, cool model.

Wyches and bloodbrides: T3 6+ save unit that isn't afraid of much of anything in CC. 3 shardnets, a ton of attacks, 4++ in CC, agonizer sarge, and the ability to earn or receive FNP makes many units double or triple their points hesitate about being near this unit. I don't even hesitate (much) charging gene stealers with these.

SM Scouts. Infiltrate, scouts, move through cover, can get stealth, and a decent assortment of weapon options. In a game about missions, these guys have some good utility towards achieving victory. Even the scout bikers can be potent. The Space wolf version of scouts is downright mean.

Null zone librarian. Null zone might be a dead power against many opponents, same with the hood. But when you need either, they do such a great job it isn't funny.

Imperial Guard Hellhound w/heavy stubber and smoke launchers

I have always liked the story behind the Hellhound. Now they even look better with their new models. A fast tank armed with a heavy bolter, heavy stubber and an inferno cannon (arguably with the best flamethrower weapon in the game) is a model to be reckoned with. I generally run two in my army so that they can support one another. I usually keep them in reserve as a rapid deployment force to keep my opponent guessing.

I'm going to actually second the chaos sorcerer. Specifically, the one you give "gifts of chaos" to.

Hey, Ghazkull! You're a spawn now!

Hey, Carnifex! You're a spawn now!

Hey, Mephiston! You're a spawn now!

Hey Kharn! You're... well, you're still cool...

No matter what ultra scary crazy whatever your opponent throws down, you've got at least a 1 in 6 chance of turning it into a chaos spawn.
