For me... Sean Connery IS Bond.

I'll give Roger Moore a distant second.

Yeah some of Roger Moore's bond movies were pretty cheesy and over the top, even for a James Bond film (Moonraker I'm looking at you).

People may call me a heretic, but I'm torn between Craig, Brosnan and Connery.

I much prefer the movies Craig was on... and his grittier Bond. Brosnan had style, and I thought he was a good continuation of the Bond persona. Connery is just classic, and his image has been associated with Bond long before all the others.

I'm going with Craig, though. I don't know how much it derives from the books, but I found his movies more entertaining than any other James Bond.

Moore's first few Bond films were pretty good ( Live and let Die, The man with the Golden Gun & The Spy who loved me) but after that they started to go downhill quick IMO.

I thought "For Your Eyes Only" was pretty good as far as James Bond films go, it had a more realistic storyline.

Sean Connery is the classy original. Craig is getting closer to the books, but I'm voting for the classic.

You know how bond's one weakness is
Spoiler:

, and what happens to Craig's bond?
Spoiler:
he becomes cold and vengeful, with nothing on his mind besides brutal revenge

Well, in the original "Casino Royale"

Spoiler:
he just takes the news of her death and betrayal with a sigh, and gets back to work

For your eyes Only wasn't bad,but after Moonraker (which was awful) Moore's Bond just lost something for me.
Octopussy was Ok,and A View to a Kill had Christopher Walken...so at least it was partialy watchable,But IMO Roger Moore's Bond just lost his "oomph" after The Spy who loved me.

I like my Bond more like the books. More cold-hearted, less nice-guy. Craig is excellent, Dalton was better than he got credit for, and Lazenby was remarkably true to character but had the bad luck of following Connery; I'd have liked to have seen what he could have done with more of a chance to work.

(I think that's why Dalton was received poorly too - following on the heels of Moore the clown, he was just too brutal for people.)

I think it's hard to judge them though, as they're all tied to the era they come from. Connery is Bond in the 60s. Moore is the campy 70s, followed by a few edgier early-eighties films. Dalton is the late 80s, Brosnan is the 90s, and Craig is 2000+. Moore is my least favourite, but the scripts he had to work with were trash.

Which Bond would you want as a friend? Connery or Brosnan. Which would you want working for you as an assassin? Probably Dalton or Craig. It's a difference of approach. Connery and Brosnan were too friendly.

Connery is the all-time classic. But Craig is rapidly making a case.

And I write that as a reformed Moore fan, having grown up with him.

Well, I was one of them Dalton is far too underrated as Bond. He was cold and calculating as Bond should be. He is the only one not to have made a bad film (excepting maybe Lazenby and OHMSS). And contrary to popular belief, he does get lots of sex (well, at least two per film anwyay).

Dalton is underrated. I reckon if he'd been in more films then people would've warmed to him a bit. But I have to say it's between Connery and Brosnan. Moore was a bit too cheesy (I found myself constntly watching his eyebrows).

Connery played a sort of Good Cop/Bad Cop in one guy; he was pleasant and well-mannered when he wanted to be, and the complete opposite when he didn't.

Brosnan was less of a nice guy but made up for it in how he went about his job. He might not be the friendliest chap but you can't fault his work as a Double 0.

Connery all the way for me although I feel Daniel Craig is a very close second. He has the potential to be the best if the next few Bond films continue the good trend.

Thought Quantum of Solace (although watchable) was a sharp drop in the quality after Casino Royale. Respect to Jeffrey Wright though for being only the second actor to have played Felix Leiter twice. I'd really love to see a Leiter / Bond team up in the third Craig film.

I kind of agree although I think any Bond film would have struggled following on from Casino Royale which was a real tour-de-force. But yes, I think Quantum wasn't the strongest Bond film but Daniel Craig still impressed me - he just oozes 'Bond' whatever that may be.

I voted Daniel Craig. I just didn't like Bond films before him, but now having enjoyed Casino Royale especially, I'm keen to give them another look.

I guess I just 'buy' Craig, if you take my meaning. He looks badass. He's cold. He's the only guy who's played Bond that I would not relish the prospect of fighting. He just has that aura, and that's an absolute necessity if you're playing a cold-blooded government assassin, IMO.

Dalton all the way. Less campy (okay, ninjas), more down to business, before it went downhill with the Brosnan crap again. Casino Royale is a great revival of the franchise (if a bit on the long side near the end), but sadly ruined by Quantum, which is a massive drop in quality.

I was born in the 90's (well, 1990) so Bosnan was the Bond I grew up with.

I don't like Craig as Bond. He's a phenomenal actor, and he plays the role well, but he's never looked like a Bond to me. Blond hair, blue eyes... Too Aryan. Bonds, in my mind have always been darker looking.

Well I grew up watching Moore, but also respected Connery, as my Dad was a strong influence in supporting him as the best Bond. However, I seem to have drifted away from the movies after Moore until Craig. He renewed my interest and I thoroughly enjoyed the new movies and looking forward to the next one, so I voted for Craig.

I really liked Craig in Casino Royale. It’s a strange deal. When I dfirst saw CS I hated it. Saw it later while channel bopping and became entranced with it getting progressing better each time I saw it. Now its one of my favorite films. Then they did the second film and I thought it was absolute trash and boring has hell, vowing not to see another Bond film (it was like the old lame ass Bond movies)

I liked Craig better in Layer Cake regardless.

The Daniel Craig Casino Royale was the best Bond movie so far. Period. End of.

It had everything you'd want in a Bond movie, and then some. Quantum of Solace wasn't quite as good as Casino Royale, but it was still alright.

So I have to go with Craig, with Brosnan and Connery tied at second.

Craig's pretty darn good in everything; Layer Cake was indeed cool.

I agree that Quantum was pretty big disappointment after CR; that being said, it was still at or above par for quality with most of the Bond films there have ever been. I have high hopes for future installments.

I voted for Roger Moore - don't really know why, but he was always my favourite - maybe it was the eyebrows!!

I also liked Pierce Brosnan - he just seemed to fit the role somehow.

Never really like Sean Connery - he always came across as somehow flippant & disinterested - maybe that was his interpretation of the character, but it didn't do it for me.

I think the difficulty is that the Bourne films (and CR) upped the ante. Until CR I hadn't seen a Bond film in decades. They were utterly uninteresting to me. QS has returned me to that state.
