So I've had a savage orc army for a while. It was a lot of fun to put together, and pretty fun to play in 7th edition, but it's languished unused for the last half year or so. Having read the recent rumors about the upcoming O&G release, I figured it was time to bring out the ole' savages and give them a few new friends, while simultaneously cleaning out a few units that have been sitting in a drawer of my paint station for a while. I can't wait to see what the new plastic kits look like! I'll definitely be picking up a few to add to the army.

You can see the entire army in my gallery, but here is the overview pic to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:

First up on the updates is a unit of goblin stikkas (as they were called when I bought the models). Basically, they're just forest goblins with bows.

More to come - I've got a good number of spider riders to add, as well as another 14 boar boyz (bringing the total in the army to 40ish)

Dan

Here's update number two for the savages. I usually prefer the old metal sculpts to the newer ones, but in the case of spider riders I really like the plastics - all 1 piece of them!

So here's 10 to provide a bit of scuttley support to the jungle boyz:

More to come soon,

Back from the field at last - and only a few short weeks until the new orc releases! I'm going to have to kick it into gear to finish up the guys I already own it seems...

on that note, here is a goblin boss to join the spider boyz. The bright colors are a blast to paint, this army is really a lot of fun to model:

More goblins to come - this time they're on foot! I've got a unit of 80 or so to finish in the next 2 weeks. Hopefully I'll get it done.

Hehe. He's got a blue skull on his bum.

On a more mature note, I love the colors. I'm not crazy over the Orcs and Goblins (not that I don't like them as I have my fair share) but I'm quite intrigued by the new releases. I'd love to see what you do with those, especially the Arachnarok. Hoo, that one looks like a doozy.

Well, it's been a busy couple of weeks, but I've managed to add a few more dudes to the tribe.

First up is the first 19 of a goblin horde - there's nothing too special about them except that most of them are the old metals, which I dig.

And next up is a brand new arachnarok spider. What a kit! The spider itself was both easy to build and well sculpted & cast. The howdah was a bit more painful, but still easier than comparable machines like the scraplauncher (my personal least favorite to build). I left him pretty stock standard, although I did reposition his front legs to be a bit more grabby.

Here are the pics:

Next up are 20 of the new savage boyz - let me know what you think.

The orange is blazing orange, washed with Bhall red, and highlighted up with blazing orange/badmoon yellow. I think I did 2 highlights on these guys.

I'm glad you like them! At first I thought they looked crappy, but the scheme grew on me, so I stuck with it.

Hate to add to the broken record but those oranges really are wonderful. The bright colours really I orcs and goblins I feel when they have time to prepare for war!

I look forward to seeing more of this as it goes along.

Love the bright colours on your savages, the orc and goblin sculpts really lend themselves to a vibrant, cartoony style. Can't wait to see what you do with the new savage orcs.

Huzzah! I finished up 20 of the new savage boys - 10 with 2hw and 10 with bows for a little variety.

The kit is great - my only complaint is that there are no extra heads. Given that they included all the weapon options, from bows to spears to shields, I can forgive them though. I've got more strange bone/stone spears and shields now than I know what to do with.

Here are the pics:

And now this army is on hold for a bit. I don't really have more to add until I stop being cheap and order 12 river trolls. That might be a bit. Until then, it's off to work on some malifaux stuff.

Thanks for the comments & thoughts,
