Depending on how strongly you feel about it you might consider making it specifically about repurposing a GW miniature for another system? That's a bigger statement/stronger theme which could be good or bad depending on your motivation. Also remember to include rules on bases and such. The DPC rules might be worth checking as they cover 99% of issues.
DPC? And I think I want to leave this open to folk as much as possible - there are people going both ways to and from GW, this is about spuring folk onto using stuff in imaginative ways. BTW, I got the enormous package from you thanks mate and got back from Spain to find the bits I'm sending you at the bottom of a suitcase - they are now definitely en route to you
DPC=Dakka Painting Challenge.
And yes, it has been said that I have an enormous package. Glad you liked, I got the bits through too thanks mate, well chuffed.
The competition sounds like great fun, I'm definitely on board but I'll be making a start near the end of this month if that's cool?

The enthusiasm for this is making me chuffed as chuffed thing covered in... chuff. Folk can start whenever, just want to set the ball rolling. Incidentally, the prizes are not "in order" - first place gets to pick theirs, and so on. I'll edit the main post. I may have more prizes in store if there's a particularly high standard/range.
In other news, I'm just about done with the non-modular SoB tank (the rescue one):
Still a wee bit of clean-up a gs work here and there to do.
But wait, graven, where is that tasty plough of doom? Ah, well, that's going to go on the heavily armoured & modular tank that is still to come. Should crank it out over the next couple of days, depends if I can locate a specific bit for it or not.

Thanks Vik, they do scream Ork don't they?! I converted/repurposed one of their weird skimmer vehicle things, into an early days of aviation/steam punk inspired Imperial Guard flyer a while back.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/496398.page
I was toying with redoing it for this competition but decided it wouldn't be much of a challenge as it's mainly a re-paint and just a re-sculpt of the pilot that I want to do.

Vik, the links below will take you to the site I ordered them from, the bottom link being the flyer thing.
http://www.miniaturemarket.com/manufacturer?manufacturer=253
http://www.miniaturemarket.com/rkhkac301.html
They do a single seat version with just one fuselage bit, but to make the tail part, I hacked up the 2 halves of the 2nd fuselage.
Though be warned, it was made from some sort of weird rubbery plastic that will gunk up files, razor saws, drill bits etc! And is a female canine to glue together without prep work!

Loving the Orkery! And meantime, tanks. Primed: And WIPs of the next one. This is to be more heavily armoured, more repressor style and will get the giant plough: The top section of this is going to be hell to build and has already involved the bone saw... inmygravenimage, the base for the Tempest is getting me all excited- much better than the bog standard plastic flying stands, and the Sisters tank is looking good, can't wait to see what style of painting you opt for.
I've finished the build and all the green stuffing on my Repurposing entry, filled gaps and made new straps for the armour plating and jetpack thingymajig, and made a nice and simple base.
Took me a while to find a suitable scaled Ork head, the plastic boyz just looked too small, kind of like the Goombas from the Super Mario movie.
This head looks a little too large in my opinion but it does give a nice, false perspective of him leaping forwards when viewed from the front. Now just to get him prepped for painting! (And it seems I am able to stop and do WIP shots- perhaps a blog of my many, many projects in the near future?)
