I love all the cocked heads adds a lot of personality. I modeled my crons a bit similarly kinda like they're curious about what they're about to vaporize. Also paint job is swell.

What a fun paint scheme you have chosen and well executed. Do you have a background reason behind the tree "camouflage" of your destroyers?

First off, thanks to everyone for your comments.

Actually, the effect I was going for was like that seen on the Vorlon ships and encounter suits in Babylon 5. The bladed "leaf" pattern evolved as I painted, quite without intention. The reason for that, I think, is because I was painting something else with flames at the same time, and muscle memory caused a blending of schemes. The intent was to reflect that the Necrons are made of living metal. That is the same reason I went with green and tried to make them somewhat iridescent - beetle-like. The paint scheme for my army is that Warriors and simple constructs are metalic green. Leaders and "advanced models" (currently only Wraiths) are cobalt blue. My Monolith I painted with color change paint (an idea I entirely ripped off from "Starship Modeler" - see http://www.starshipmodeler.com/other/jw_mono.htm).

I'm in the process of painting a Destroyer Lord, and for this I'm studying the patterns on the Poison Dart Tree Frog:

When I get that one finished, I'll post it. I've not yet started on the abdomen yet. I'm hoping the effect will be much cleaner and clearer.

Thanks for responding. Very interesting, while I paint my necrons in a more traditional way, it is always nice to see someone do something completely different.

Look forward to the blue paint!

An interesting colourscheme. I especially like the destroyers. Look forward to seeing the destroyer lord.

Necron Tomb somewhere in Scandinavia.

You have many bright colours but you have painted 'em well! Still cos they are bright coloured they lose bit of their scarynes and they should be scary and fearless killing mashines from hell. Destroyers look more like nice little mashines from rairyland but thats ok. Its nice to see someone to paint their necrons with bright metallic colours and you have done it well!

Not my preferred colourscheme, but well executed nonetheless. I think the Lords robe could do with deeper shading a sharper highlights however, nad the the skull bases could do with a wash to take the glare off them.

I second the lord robe comment. I LOVE the green leafy pattern on the destroyers. But he lord doesn't feel like he fits with the rest of the army. He looks too blue compared to the yellow/gold green of the rest. Also his robes could use more depth from shading.

First, thanks for everyone's comments. The suggestions regarding the Lord I will consider as I paint its replacement. I'm not precisely thrilled with how it turned out either. Plus, I want to paint the one with the Res. Orb.

I will, in time. I've got most of my army to a playable state ... not necessarily to a displayable state. I'm just not ready to show everything off yet.

I like 'em - but I agree that the lord doesn't quite have the same alien feel as the others. To me he looks more like somebody wearing armour rather than something made of strange freaky metal.

As an addition, this is a work in progress. I still need to finish its base, which I'm in the process of customizing (i.e. I'm sculpting up a mess of skulls/skeletons).

The green and purple work quite well together and loving the free hand on the carapace!

Are you planning on doing a similar sort of scheme for a monolith?
